শমূয়েলের দ্বিতীয় বই 23
1 ১ দায়ূদের শেষ বাক্য এই৷ যিশয়ের ছেলে দায়ূদ বলছে, “সেই পুরুষ যাকে সম্মানিত করা হয়েছে, তিনি বলছেন, যাকে যাকোবের ঈশ্বর অভিষিক্ত করেছেন, যে ইস্রায়েলের মধুর গায়ক, সে বলছে,
Now these are the last words of David. David the son of Jesse says, the man whom God raised up, the anointed of the God of Jacob, the sweet psalmist of Israel:
"The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me. His word was on my tongue.
3 ৩ ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর বলেছেন, ইস্রায়েলের শৈল আমাকে বলেছেন, ‘যিনি মানুষদের উপরে ধার্ম্মিকতায় কর্তৃত্ব করেন, যিনি ঈশ্বরের ভয়ে কর্তৃত্ব করেন,
The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me, 'One who rules over men righteously, who rules in the fear of God,
4 ৪ তিনি সকালের, সূর্য্যোদয়ের দিন, মেঘ বিহীন সকালের আলোর মত হবেন; যখন বৃষ্টির পরে প্রাণ পাওয়া পৃথিবী থেকে নতুন ঘাস গজিয়ে ওঠে৷
shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun rises, a morning without clouds, when the tender grass springs out of the earth, through clear shining after rain.'
5 ৫ ঈশ্বরের কাছে আমার বংশ কি সেই রকম নয়? হ্যাঁ, তিনি আমার সঙ্গে এক অনন্তকালীন নিয়ম করেছেন; তা সব বিষয়ে সুসম্পন্ন ও সুরক্ষিত; এটা তো আমার সম্পূর্ণ উদ্ধার ও সমস্ত বাসনা; তিনি কি তা বাড়িয়ে তুলবেন না?
Most certainly my house is not so with God, yet he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure, for it is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he doesn't make it grow.
But all of the ungodly shall be as thorns to be thrust away, because they can't be taken with the hand,
7 ৭ যে পুরুষ তাদেরকে স্পর্শ করবেন, তিনি প্রেক ও বর্শার শাস্তি দেবেন৷ পরে তারা নিজের জায়গায় আগুনে ভস্মীভূত হবে৷’”
But the man who touches them must be armed with iron and the staff of a spear. They shall be utterly burned with fire in their place."
8 ৮ দায়ূদের বীরেদের নামের তালিকা৷ তখ-মোনীয় যোশেব-বশেবৎ সৈন্যদলের প্রধান ছিলেন; ইসনীয় আদীনো, তিনি এককালে আটশো লোকের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ করছিলেন৷
These are the names of the warriors whom David had: Jeshbaal the son of Hachmoni, leader of the Three. He wielded his spear against eight hundred whom he killed at one time.
9 ৯ তাঁর পরে একজন অহোহীয়ের সন্তান দোদয়ের ছেলে ইলীয়াসর; তিনি দায়ূদের সঙ্গী বীরএয়ের একজন; তাঁরা পলেষ্টীয়দেরকে টিটকারী দিলে পলেষ্টীয়েরা যুদ্ধের জন্য সেখানে জড়ো হল এবং ইস্রায়েলের লোকেরা কাছে আসছিল,
After him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, one of the Three warriors. He was with David in Pas Dammim when they defied the Philistines who were gathered there for battle, and the men of Israel had retreated.
10 ১০ ইতিমধ্যে তিনি দাঁড়িয়ে যে পর্যন্ত তাঁর হাত ক্লান্ত না হল, ততক্ষণ পলেষ্টীয়দেরকে আঘাত করলেন; শেষে তলোয়ারে তাঁর হাত জোড়া লেগে গেল; আর সদাপ্রভু সেই দিন বিজয় মহাজয় দিলেন এবং লোকেরা শুধুমাত্র লুট করার জন্য তাঁর পিছন পিছন গেল৷
He arose, and struck the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand froze to the sword; and the LORD worked a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to take spoil.
11 ১১ তারপরে হরারীয় আগির ছেলে শম্ম; পলেষ্টীয়রা এক মসূরক্ষেতের কাছে জড়ো হয়ে দল বাঁধলে যখন লোকেরা পলেষ্টীয়দের থেকে পালিয়ে গেল,
After him was Shamma the son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines were gathered together at Lehi, where there was a plot of ground full of lentils; and the people fled from the Philistines.
12 ১২ তখন শম্ম সেই ক্ষেতের মধ্যে দাঁড়িয়ে তা উদ্ধার করলেন এবং পলেষ্টীয়দেরকে হত্যা করলেন; আর সদাপ্রভু মহাজয় তাদেরকে দিলেন৷
But he stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and killed the Philistines; and the LORD worked a great victory.
13 ১৩ আর ত্রিশজন প্রধানের মধ্যে তিনজন ফসল কাটার দিনের অদুল্লম গুহাতে দায়ূদের কাছে এলেন; তখন পলেষ্টীয়দের সৈন্য রফায়ীম উপত্যকায় শিবির স্থাপন করেছিল৷
And three of the Thirty chief men went down, and came to David in the harvest time to the cave of Adullam; and the troop of the Philistines was camped in the Valley of Rephaim.
David was then in the stronghold; and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.
15 ১৫ পরে দায়ূদ পিপাসিত হয়ে বললেন, “হায়৷ কে আমাকে বৈৎলেহমের ফটকের কাছের কূপের জল এনে পান করতে দেবে?”
And David had a craving and said, "Oh that one would give me water to drink of the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate."
16 ১৬ তাতে ঐ বীরত্রয় পলেষ্টীয় সৈন্যের মধ্য দিয়ে গিয়ে বৈৎলেহমে ফটকের কাছের কূপের জল তুলে দায়ূদের কাছে আসলেন, কিন্তু তিনি তা পান করতে রাজি হলেন না, সদাপ্রভুর উদ্দেশ্যে ঢেলে ফেললেন;
The Three warriors broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but he would not drink of it, but poured it out to the LORD.
17 ১৭ তিনি বললেন, “হে সদাপ্রভু, এমন কাজ যেন আমি না করি; এটা কি সেই মানুষদের রক্ত নয়, যারা প্রাণপণে গিয়েছিল;” অতএব তিনি তা পান করতে রাজি হলেন না৷ ঐ বীরত্রয় এই সকল কাজ করেছিলেন৷
He said, "Far be it from me, LORD, that I should do this. Shall I drink the blood of the men who went in jeopardy of their lives?" Therefore he would not drink it. The Three warriors did these things.
18 ১৮ আর সরূয়ার ছেলে যোয়াবের ভাই অবীশয় সেই তিন জনের মধ্যে প্রধান ছিলেন৷ তিনি তিনশো লোকের উপরে নিজের বর্শা চালিয়ে তাদেরকে হত্যা করলেন ও নরত্রয়ের মধ্যে বিখ্যাত হলেন৷
And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was leader of the Thirty. And he wielded his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name beside the Three.
19 ১৯ তিনি কি সেই তিন জনের মধ্যে বেশি মর্য্যাদা সম্পন্ন ছিলেন না? এই জন্য তাঁদের সেনাপতি হলেন, তবে প্রথম নরত্রয়ের মত ছিলেন না৷
He was the most illustrious of the Thirty, and he became their leader. However he did not attain to the Three.
20 ২০ আর কবসেলীয় এক বীরের সন্তান যিহোয়াদার ছেলে যে বনায় যিনি অনেক মহান কাজ করেছিলেন, তিনি মোয়াবীয় অরীয়েলের দুই ছেলেকে হত্যা করলেন; সেটা ছাড়াও তিনি বরফ পরার দিনের গর্তের মধ্যে একটা সিংহকে মারলেন৷
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was a valiant man of Kabzeel, who performed great deeds. He killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow.
21 ২১ আর তিনি একজন সুপুরুষ মিস্রীয়কে হত্যা করলেন৷ সেই মিস্রীয়ের হাতে এক বর্শা এবং তাঁর হাতে এক লাঠি ছিল; পরে তিনি গিয়ে সেই মিস্রীয়দের হাত থেকে বর্শাটী কেড়ে নিয়ে তার বর্শা দ্বারা তাকে হত্যা করলেন৷
He killed an Egyptian, a man of great stature. And the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and grabbed the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and killed him with his own spear.
Benaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things, and had a name among the Three warriors.
23 ২৩ তিনি ঐ ত্রিশ জনের থেকেও মর্য্যাদা সম্পন্ন, কিন্তু প্রথম নরত্রয়ের সমান ছিলেন না; দায়ূদ তাঁকে নিজের সেনাবাহিনীর শাসনকর্ত্তা করলেন৷
He was more honored than the Thirty, but he did not attain to the Three. David set him over his guard.
Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the Thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo from Bethlehem,
Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,
Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,
Abiezer the Anathothite, Sibbekai the Hushathite,
Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,
Heled the son of Baanah the Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the people of Benjamin,
Benaiah a Pirathonite, Hiddai of Nahale Gaash.
Abiel son of the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Bahurimite,
Eliahba the Shaalbinite, Jashen the Gizonite,
Jonathan son of Shamma the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sakar the Hararite,
Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai the Maacathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,
Hezrai the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,
Igal the son of Nathan, from the army of the Hagrites,
Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, armor bearer to Joab the son of Zeruiah,
Ira the Jattirite, Gareb the Jattirite,
Uriah the Hethite: thirty-seven in all.
