< Joan 13 >

1 Eta bazco besta aitzinean, çaquiala Iesusec ecen ethorri cela haren orena iragan ledinçat mundu hunetaric Aitaganát, nola maite vkan baitzituen bereac, munduan ciradenac, finerano maite vkan ditu hec.
Now before the feast of the Passover, Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart from this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
2 Eta affal ondoan (deabruac ia eçarri çuenean Iudas Iscarioten, Simonen semearen bihotzean, hura tradi leçan)
By the time supper ended, the devil had put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, to betray Jesus.
3 Daquialaric Iesusec gauça gucia eman drauzcala hari Aitác escuetara, eta bera Iaincoaganic ilki dela, eta Iaincoganat ioaiten dela:
Jesus knew that the Father had put all things into his hands, and that he had come from God and was going back to God,
4 Iaiquiten da affaritetic, eta vtziten du arropá: eta harturic longerabat, guerrica cedin harçaz.
so he rose from supper, laid aside his outer garments, took a towel, and wrapped it around his waist.
5 Guero eçar ceçan vr bacin batetara, eta has cedin discipuluen oinén ikutzen, eta guerricatua cen oihalaz ichucatzen.
After that, he put water into the washbasin and began to wash his disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel that was wrapped around his waist.
6 Ethor cedin bada Simon Pierrisgana: eta harc erran cieçon, Iauna, hic niri oinac ikutzen drauzquidac?
When he came to Simon Peter, Peter said to him, “Lord, are yoʋ going to wash my feet?”
7 Ihardets ceçan Iesusec eta erran cieçon, Nic eguiten dudana, hic eztaquic orain: baina guero eçaguturen duc.
Jesus answered him, “What I am doing yoʋ do not now understand, but afterward yoʋ will understand.”
8 Diotsa Pierrisec, Eztituc ikuciren ene oinac seculan. Ihardets cieçón Iesusec, Baldin ikuz ezpaheçat, eztuc vkanen parteric enequin. (aiōn g165)
Peter said to him, “Yoʋ shall never wash my feet.” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash yoʋ, yoʋ have no part with me.” (aiōn g165)
9 Diotsa Simon Pierrisec, Iauna, ez ene oinac solament, baina escuac-ere eta buruä.
Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, then wash not only my feet, but also my hands and my head.”
10 Diotsa Iesusec, Ikucia denac, eztic mengoaric oinac ikuz ditzan baicen, baina duc chahu gucia: eta çuec chahu çarete, baina ez gucioc.
Jesus said to him, “He who has bathed has no need to wash, except for his feet, but is completely clean. And you are clean, but not all of you.”
11 Ecen baçaquian cein cen hura traditzen çuena: halacotz erran ceçan, Etzarete chahu gucioc.
(For he knew who would betray him; that is why he said, “You are not all clean.”)
12 Bada ikuci cituenean hayén oinac, eta bere arropac harçara hartu cituenean, berriz mahainean, iarriric erran ciecén, Badaquiçue cer eguin drauçuedan?
When Jesus had washed their feet and collected his garments, he reclined again at the table and said to them, “Do you know what I have done for you?
13 Çuec deitzen nauçue, Magistrua eta Iauna, eta vngui dioçue: ceren bainaiz.
You call me Teacher and Lord, and rightly so, for that is what I am.
14 Baldin beraz nic ikuci baditut çuen oinac Iauna eta Magistrua naicelaric, çuec-ere behar drauzteçue elkerri oinac ikuci.
So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.
15 Ecen exemplu eman vkan drauçuet, nic çuey eguin drauçuedan beçala, çuec-ere daguiçuen.
For I have given you an example so that you should do as I have done for you.
16 Eguiaz eguiaz erraiten drauçuet, Cerbitzaria ezta bere nabussia baino handiago, ezeta embachadorea hura igorten duena bainoa handiago.
Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.
17 Baldin gauça hauc badaquizquiçue, dohatsu içanen çarete baldin eguin baditzaçue.
If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.
18 Eznaiz çueçaz gucioz minço: nic badaquit cein elegitu ditudan: baina behar da compli dadin Scripturá, Enequin oguia iaten duenac, altchatu du ene contra bere oindogorá.
I am not speaking about all of you; I know those whom I have chosen for myself. But the Scripture must be fulfilled: ‘He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.’
19 Oraindanic erraiten drauçuet eguin dadin baino lehen, eguin datenean, sinhets deçaçuençát ecen ni naicela.
I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen, you will believe that I am he.
20 Eguiaz eguiaz erraiten drauçuet, baldin nic norbeit igor badeçat, norc-ere hura recebitzen baitu, ni recebitzen nau: eta ni recebitzen nauenac, recebitzen du ni igorri nauena.
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me.”
21 Gauça hauc erran cituenean Iesus trubla cedin spirituan, eta testifica ceçan, eta erran, Eguiaz eguiaz erraiten drauçuet, ecen çuetaric batec tradituren nauela ni.
After saying these things, Jesus was troubled in his spirit and declared, “Truly, truly, I say to you, one of you will betray me.”
22 Orduan discipuluéc batac berceaganat behatzen çutén, ceinez minço cen dudatan içanez.
So the disciples began looking at one another, perplexed as to whom he was speaking about.
23 Eta cen Iesusen discipuluetaric bat mahainean haren bulharrera iarria, cein maite baitzuen Iesusec:
One of his disciples, the one whom Jesus loved, was reclining on Jesus' chest.
24 Eta keinu eguin cieçón huni Simon Pierrisec, galde leguión, cein cen harc erraiten çuena.
So Simon Peter motioned to him to ask Jesus whom he was talking about.
25 Bada harc Iesusen stomaquera beheraturic, diotsa, Iauna, cein da?
Leaning back on Jesus' chest, he said to him, “Lord, who is it?”
26 Ihardets ceçan Iesusec, Hura duc nic ahamen trempatua emanen draucadana. Eta busti çuenean ahamena, eman cieçón Iudas Iscariot Simonenari.
Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I give this morsel after I have dipped it.” Then he dipped the morsel and gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.
27 Eta ahamenaren ondoan sar cequión Satan. Eta diotsa Iesusec, Eguiten duana eguic fitetz.
After Judas took the morsel, Satan entered into him. Then Jesus said to him, “What yoʋ are about to do, do quickly.”
28 Baina mahainean ciradenetaric batec-ere etzuen aditzen certara hura erran ceraucan.
(Now none of those reclining at the table knew why he said this to him.
29 Ecen batzuc vste çuten, ceren mulsá baitzuen Iudasec, ecen erran ceraucala Iesusec, Eros itzac bestacotzát behar ditugun gauçác: edo paubrey cerbait eman liecén.
Some were thinking, since Judas had the moneybag, that Jesus was saying to him, “Buy what we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor.)
30 Hura bada ahamena harturic, bertan ilki cedin, eta cen gauä.
As soon as Judas took the morsel, he went out. And it was night.
31 Eta ilki cenean, erran ceçan Iesusec, Orain glorificatu da guiçonaren Semea, eta Iaincoa glorificatu da hartan.
When Judas had gone out, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified, and God is glorified in him.
32 Baldin Iaincoa glorificatu bada hartan, Iaincoac-ere glorificaturen du hura bere baithan, eta bertan glorificaturen du hura.
If God is glorified in him, God will also glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him immediately.
33 Haourtoác, oraino appurbat çuequin naiz: bilhaturen nauçue: baina Iuduey erran drauedan beçala, Norat ni ioaiten bainaiz, çuec ecin ethor çaitezquete: hala çuey-ere erraiten drauçuet orain.
Little children, I am with you for a little while longer. You will seek me, and just as I said to the Jews, now I say to you also, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come.’
34 Manamendu berribat emaiten drauçuet, batac berceari on daritzoçuen, nic çuey on eritzi drauçuedan beçala, çuec -ere elkarri on daritzoçuençat.
I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you must love one another.
35 Hunetan eçaguturen dute guciéc ecen ene discipulu çaretela, baldin charitate baduçue batac berceagana.
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
36 Diotsa Simon Pierrisec, Iauna, norat ioaiten aiz? Ihardets cieçón Iesusec, Norat ni ioaiten bainaiz, ecin orain iarreiqui aquidit: baina iarreiquiren atzait guero.
Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are yoʋ going?” Jesus answered him, “Yoʋ cannot follow me now to the place where I am going, but afterward yoʋ will follow me.”
37 Diotsa Pierrisec, Iauna, ceren ecin iarreiqui naquidic orain? neure arima hiregatic eçarriren diát.
Peter said to him, “Lord, why can I not follow yoʋ now? I will lay down my life for yoʋ.”
38 Ihardets cieçón Iesusec, Eure arimá enegatic eçarriren baituc? eguiaz eguiaz erraiten drauat, eztic ioren oillarrac vkatu nuqueano hiruretan.
Jesus answered him, “Yoʋ will lay down yoʋr life for me? Truly, truly, I say to yoʋ, a rooster will certainly not crow until yoʋ have denied me three times.”
