1 Demboréz eta momentéz den becembatean, anayeác, ezta mengoaric scriba dieçaçuedan.
But of the times and the seasons, my brethren, you need not that I write to you;
2 Ecen ceuroc badaquiçue vngui ecen Iaunaren eguna ethorriren dela, ohoina gauaz beçala.
for you truly know that the day of our Lord as a thief in the night so cometh.
3 Ecen erran deçatenean, Baque eta segurança: orduan gainera ethorriren çaye vstegaberico destructionea, içorra denari mina beçala, eta eztirade itzuriren.
While they shall be saying, Peace and tranquillity, then unawares will destruction arise against them, as distress upon the child-bearer, and they shall not escape.
4 Baina çuec, anayeác, etzarete ilhumbean, non egun harc, ohoinac eguiten duen beçala, ardiets çaitzaten.
But you, my brethren, are not in darkness, that that day as a thief should overtake you.
5 Çuec gucioc arguiaren haour çarete, eta egunaren haour: ezgara gauaren edo ilhumbearen haour.
For all of you are sons of light, and sons of the day; and are not sons of the night, nor sons of darkness.
6 Ezgaunçala bada lo berceac beçala, baina gauden iratzarri eta garén sobre.
Sleep we not, therefore, as the rest; but be wakeful and sober.
7 Ecen lo daunçanac, gauaz lo daunça: eta horditzen diradenac, gauaz dirade hordi.
For they who sleep, in the night sleep; and they who are drunken, in the night are drunken.
8 Baina gu egunaren garenoc, garén sobre, fedezco eta charitatezco halacretaz veztituac, eta casquet orde, saluamendutaco sperançáz.
But we who are sons of the day must be wakeful in our minds, and wear the mail-coat of faith and of love, and put on the helmet of the hope of salvation.
9 Ecen ezgaitu ordenatu Iaincoac hiracotzát, baina saluamenduaren vkaitecotzát Iesus Christ gure Iaunaz,
For Aloha hath not appointed us to wrath, but to the possession of salvation in our Lord Jeshu Meshiha,
10 Cein guregatic hil içan baita: bagaude iratzarriric, ala bagaunça lo, harequin batean vici garén.
who died on our behalf, that, whether we wake or sleep, together with him we may live.
11 Harren, exhorta eçaçue elkar, eta edifica eçaçue batac bercea, eguiten-ere duçuen beçala.
Wherefore comfort one another, and edify one another, as also you do.
12 Halaber othoizten çaituztegu, anayeác, eçagut ditzaçuen çuen artean trabaillatzen diradenac, eta çuen gaineco diradenac gure Iaunean, eta çuen admonestaçaleac:
BUT I entreat of you, my brethren, to know them who labour among you, and stand before your faces teaching you,
13 Eta amorio handitan eduqui ditzaçuen, eguiten dutén obragatic. Auçue baque elkarren artean.
that they be esteemed by you in abundant love; and on account of their work be at peace with them.
14 Halaber othoitz eguiten drauçuegu, anayeác, admonesta ditzaçuen vicitze desordenatutacoac, consola ditzaçuen gogo chipitacoac, sustenga ditzaçuen flaccuac, çareten spirituz patient gucietara.
And I entreat of you, my brethren, (to) admonish the offenders, and encourage the little of soul, and bear the burden of the weak, and prolong your spirit toward every man.
15 Beguirauçue nehorc eztieçón gaitza gaitzagatic nehori renda: baina vnguiari bethi çarreitzate, bata berceagana eta gucietara.
And beware, lest any of you evil render for evil; but always follow after (those things which are) good (pl.) toward one another, and toward every man.
16 Bethiere çareten aleguera.
Be joyful always,
17 Paussu gabe othoitz eguiçue.
and pray without ceasing,
18 Gauça gucietan esquerrac emainzquiçue: ecen haur da Iaincoaren çuetaraco vorondatea Iesus Christez.
and in every thing give thanks; for this is the will of Aloha in Jeshu Meshiha concerning you.
19 Spiritua ezteçaçuela iraungui:
The Spirit quench not.
20 Prophetiác eztiçaçuela menosprecia.
Prophecy do not despise.
21 Gauça guciac experimentaitzaçue: on denari çatchetzate:
Prove every thing, and what is good retain.
22 Gaizquiaren irudi orotaric beguira çaitezte.
And from every evil thing flee.
23 Bada Iainco baquezcoac ossoqui sanctifica çaitzatela: eta çuen spiritu gucia eta arima eta gorputza hoguen gabe, Iesus Christ gure Iaunaren aduenimenduco beguira ditecela.
But the God of peace himself will sanctify perfectly all of you; and your whole spirit, and your soul, and your body will he keep without fault, to the coming of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha.
24 Fidel da çuec deithu çaituztena, eguinen-ere badu.
Faithful is he who hath called you, who himself will do it!
25 Anayeác, othoitz eguiçue guregatic.
My brethren, pray for us.
26 Salutaitzaçue anaye guciac pot saindurequin.
Ask the peace of all our brethren, with the holy kiss.
27 Requeritzen çaituztet Iaunaren partez iracur daquién epistola haur anaye saindu guciey.
I adjure you, by our Lord, that this epistle be read to all the holy brethren.
28 Iesus Christ gure Iaunaren gratia dela çuequin. Amen.
The grace of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha be with you. Amen.
