< 1 Joan 3 >

1 Ikussaçue nolaco charitatea guri eman draucun Aitac, baita, Iaincoaren haur deitha gaitecen: halacotz munduac ezgaitu eçagutzen, ceren ezpaitu hura eçagutzen.
See what great love the Father has lavished on us: he lets us be called God’s children! For that is what we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it has not learned to know him.
2 Maiteác, orain Iaincoaren haour gara, baina oraino ezta aguertu içanen garena: badaquigu ordea ecen hura aguer dadinean, hura irudico dugula: ecen den beçala ikussiren duquegu hura.
Dear friends, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is that, when it is revealed, we will be like him, because we will see him as he is.
3 Eta norc-ere sperança haur baitu hura baithan, purificatzen du bere buruä, hura-ere pur den beçala.
And just as he is pure, everyone who has this hope, makes and keeps themselves pure.
4 Norc-ere bekatu eguiten baitu, Leguearen contra-ere eguiten du: eta bekatua da Leguearen contra dena.
Everyone who lives sinfully is living in violation of God’s law. Sin is lawlessness.
5 Eta badaquiçue ecen hura aguertu içan dela gure bekatuac ken litzançát, eta bekaturic hura baithan eztela.
You know that Christ appeared to take away our sins and that there is no sin in him.
6 Hura baithan egoiten denec eztu bekaturic eguiten: norc-ere bekatu eguiten baitu, eztu ikussi hura, eta eztu eçagutu hura.
No one who lives in him continues to sin; the sinner has not seen or known him.
7 Haourtoác, nehorc seduci etzaitzatela: iustitia eguiten duena, iusto da, hura iusto den beçala.
My children, don’t let anyone mislead you. The person who does what is right is righteous, just as Christ is righteous.
8 Bekatu eguiten duena, deabruaganic da: ecen hatseandanic deabruac bekatu eguiten du: hunetacotz aguertu içan da Iaincoaren Semea, deseguin litzançát deabruaren obrác.
The person who lives in sin is a child of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. To undo the devil’s work is the reason the Son of God appeared.
9 Nor-ere iayo içan baita Iaincoaganic, harc bekaturic eztu eguiten: ecen haren hacia haina baithan dago, eta ecin daidi bekaturic, ceren Iaincoaganic iayo içan baita.
No child of God sins, because God’s nature dwells in them. They can’t live in sin, because they are God’s children.
10 Hunetan agueri dirade Iaincoaren haourrac eta deabruaren haourrac: norc-ere iustitia ezpaitu eguiten, eta ezpaitu bere anayea onhesten hura ezta Iaincoaganic.
By this it is made clear who are the children of God and who are the devil’s: anyone who doesn’t do what is right or doesn’t love others is not a child of God.
11 Ecen haur da hatseandanic ençun vkan duçuen mandatalgoá, Elkarri on eritzi dieçogun.
For this is the message we heard from the beginning: we are to love one another.
12 Ez Cainec beçala, cein baitzén Gaichtoaganic, eta ceinec hil baitzuen bere anayea. Eta cergatic hil vkan çuen? ceren haren obrác gaichto baitziraden, eta haren anayearenac iusto.
We must not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. Why did he kill him? Because his actions were evil, and his brother’s were righteous.
13 Ene anayeác, ezteçaçuela mirets baldin çuey gaitz badaritzue munduac.
Do not be suprised, friends, if the world hates you.
14 Guc badaquigu ecen iragan garela heriotic vicitzera, ecen on dariztegu anayey: anayeari on eztaritzana, herioan dago.
We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love each other. The person who does not love remains in a state of death.
15 Norc-ere gaitz baitaritza bere anayeri hura guicerhaile da: eta badaquiçue guicerhailec batec-ere eztuela vicitze eternal bere baithan dagoena. (aiōnios g166)
The person who hates another is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life dwelling within them. (aiōnios g166)
16 Hunetan eçagutu vkan dugu charitatea, ceren harc bere vicia guregatic eçarri vkan baitu, guc-ere beraz gure viciac anayeacgatic eçarri behar ditugu.
This is how we know what love is: Christ gave his life for us. So we should lay down our own lives for each other.
17 Bada norc vkanen baituque munduco onetaric, eta ikussiren baituque haren anayeac necessitate duqueela eta ertsiren baitrautza bere halsarrac, nolatan Iaincoaren charitatea egoiten da hura baithan?
If anyone has material possessions, and sees one of our own in need, but closes their heart against that person, how can it be said that the love of God is within them?
18 Ene haourtoác, ezteçagula on eritzi hitzez ezeta mihiz, baina obraz eta eguiaz:
My children, our love must not be mere words or talk. It must be true and show itself in actions.
19 Eta hunetan eçagutzen dugu ecen eguiatic garela, eta haren aitzinean seguraturen ditugu gure bihotzac.
This is how we will know we belong to the truth and reassure ourselves in God’s presence:
20 Ecen baldin condemna baguitza gure bihotzac, handiago da Iaincoa gure bihotza baino, eta eçagutzen ditu gauça guciac.
though our conscience condemns us, God is greater than our conscience and knows everything.
21 Maiteác, baldin gure bihotzac condemnatzen ezpagaitu, segurança dugu Iaincoa baithan.
Dear friends, if our conscience does not condemn us, then we approach God with confidence,
22 Eta ceren-ere esca bagaitez, recebitzen dugu harenganic: ecen haren manamenduac beguiratzen ditugu, eta haren aitzinean placént diraden gauçác eguiten ditugu.
and we receive from him whatever we ask, because we are keeping his commands, and are doing what pleases him.
23 Eta haur da haren manamendua, Sinhets deçagun Iesus Christ haren Semearen icenean, eta elkarri on daritzogun, manamendu eman dracun beçala.
His command is that we should believe in his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, as Christ commanded us.
24 Eta haren manamenduac beguiratzen dituena, hura baithan egoiten da, eta hura haina baithan: eta huneçaz eçagutzen dugu ecen hura egoiten dela gutan, da iaquiteco, eman vkan draucun Spirituaz.
The person who keeps his commands dwells in God and God dwells in them. And we are sure he lives in us because of the Spirit he has given us.
