1 Bir fahişədən doğulan Gileadlı İftah igid döyüşçü idi. Onun atası Gilead idi.
Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valour, and he was the son of an harlot: and Gilead begat Jephthah.
2 Gileadın arvadı ona oğullar doğdu və bu qadının oğulları böyüyən zaman İftahı qovub belə dedilər: «Atamızın evindən sənə miras düşmür, ona görə ki sən başqa qadının oğlusan».
And Gilead’s wife bore him sons; and his wife’s sons grew up, and they thrust out Jephthah, and said to him, Thou shalt not inherit in our father’s house; for thou art the son of a another woman.
3 İftah qardaşlarının yanından qaçıb Tov diyarında yaşadı. İftahın başına macəraçı adamlar yığıldı və onunla birgə basqınçılıq edirdilər.
Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered worthless men to Jephthah, and they went out with him.
4 Bir müddətdən sonra Ammon övladları İsraillilərə qarşı döyüşə çıxdılar.
And it came to pass in process of time, that the children of Ammon made war against Israel.
5 Ammon övladları İsraillilərə qarşı çıxan zaman Gilead ağsaqqalları İftahı Tov diyarından gətirmək üçün onun yanına getdilər.
And it was so, that when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to bring Jephthah out of the land of Tob:
6 Onlar İftaha dedilər: «Gəl bizə sərkərdəlik et və Ammon övladlarına qarşı birgə vuruşaq».
And they said to Jephthah, Come, and be our captain, that we may fight with the children of Ammon.
7 İftah Gilead ağsaqqallarına dedi: «Mənə nifrət edib atamın evindən məni qovan siz deyildinizmi? Bəs indi niyə çətinliyə düşəndə mənim yanıma gəlmisiniz?»
And Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, Did ye not hate me, and drive me out of my father’s house? and why have ye come to me now when ye are in distress?
8 Gilead ağsaqqalları İftaha dedilər: «Sənin yanına ona görə gəlmişik ki, indi sən bizimlə gedib Ammon övladlarına qarşı döyüşəsən və bizə – bütün Gilead əhalisinə sərkərdə olasan».
And the elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, Therefore we turn again to thee now, that thou mayest go with us, and fight against the children of Ammon, and be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead.
9 İftah Gilead ağsaqqallarına dedi: «Yaxşı, Ammon övladlarına qarşı döyüşmək üçün məni geri aparırsınız. Bəs Rəbb qarşımda onları mənə təslim edəndə sizin başçınız mən olacağammı?»
And Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, If ye bring me home again to fight against the children of Ammon, and the LORD deliver them before me, shall I be your head?
10 Gilead ağsaqqalları İftaha dedilər: «Səninlə bizim aramızda qoy Rəbb şahid olsun! Biz mütləq sənin sözünə əməl edəcəyik».
And the elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, The LORD be a witness between us, if we do not so according to thy words.
11 İftah Gilead ağsaqqalları ilə bərabər getdi və xalq da onu özünə başçı – sərkərdə etdi. İftah Mispada, Rəbbin önündə bütün şərtlərini təkrar etdi.
Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and captain over them: and Jephthah uttered all his words before the LORD in Mizpeh.
12 Bundan sonra Ammon padşahının yanına qasidlər göndərib dedi: «Bizim aramızda nə olub ki, torpağımda mənimlə vuruşmağa gəlmisiniz?»
And Jephthah sent messengers to the king of the children of Ammon, saying, What hast thou to do with me, that thou hast come against me to fight in my land?
13 Ammon padşahı İftahın qasidlərinə dedi: «Ona görə ki İsraillilər Misirdən çıxan zaman mənim torpaqlarımı Arnondan Yabboq və İordan çaylarına qədər alıb. Gəlin onları mənə sülh yolu ilə geri qaytarın».
And the king of the children of Ammon answered to the messengers of Jephthah, Because Israel took away my land, when they came out of Egypt, from Arnon even to Jabbok, and to Jordan: now therefore restore those lands again peaceably.
14 İftah yenə də Ammon xalqının padşahının yanına qasidlər göndərib dedi:
And Jephthah sent messengers again to the king of the children of Ammon:
15 İftah belə deyir: «İsraillilər Moav torpağını, Ammon övladlarının torpağını almayıb.
And said to him, Thus saith Jephthah, Israel took not away the land of Moab, nor the land of the children of Ammon:
16 Amma İsraillilər Misirdən çıxanda Qırmızı dənizə qədər səhradan keçərək Qadeşə gəlib və
But when Israel came up from Egypt, and walked through the wilderness to the Red sea, and came to Kadesh;
17 Edom padşahının yanına qasidlər göndərib belə demişdilər: “Rica edib torpağından keçmək üçün səndən izin istəyirəm”. Lakin Edom padşahı onlara qulaq asmadı və sonra İsraillilər Moav padşahının yanına adamlar göndərdi, o da razı olmadı. Ona görə də İsraillilər Qadeşdə qalmışdılar.
Then Israel sent messengers to the king of Edom, saying, Let me, I pray thee, pass through thy land: but the king of Edom would not hearken to it. And in like manner they sent to the king of Moab: but he would not consent: and Israel abode in Kadesh.
18 İsraillilər səhra ilə gedib Edomla Moav torpaqlarının ətrafından keçərək Moav ölkəsinin şərqinə çatdı və Arnon vadisinin o biri tərəfində düşərgə saldılar. Lakin Moavın sərhədini keçmədilər, ona görə ki Arnon Moavın sərhədi idi.
Then they went along through the wilderness, and went around the land of Edom, and the land of Moab, and came by the east side of the land of Moab, and encamped on the other side of Arnon, but came not within the border of Moab: for Arnon was the border of Moab.
19 İsraillilər Emorluların padşahı – Xeşbon padşahı Sixonun yanına qasidlər göndərib demişdi: “Rica edirik, öz ölkəmizə çatana qədər sənin torpağından keçmək üçün bizə izin verəsən”.
And Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, the king of Heshbon; and Israel said to him, Let us pass, we pray thee, through thy land to my place.
20 Amma Sixon öz torpağını yol keçmək üçün İsraillilərə etibar etmədi və bütün xalqını toplayaraq Yahsada ordugah qurub İsraillilərə qarşı döyüşdü.
But Sihon trusted not Israel to pass through his land: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and encamped in Jahaz, and fought against Israel.
21 İsrailin Allahı Rəbb Sixonu və onun bütün xalqını İsraillilərə təslim edəndə onları məğlub etdilər. Beləliklə, İsraillilər o yerdə yaşayan Emorluların torpağını irs olaraq aldı.
And the LORD God of Israel delivered Sihon and all his people into the hand of Israel, and they smote them: so Israel possessed all the land of the Amorites, the inhabitants of that country.
22 Arnondan Yabboq çayına qədər, səhradan İordan çayına qədər bütün Emor torpaqlarını İsraillilər irs olaraq aldı.
And they possessed all the land of the Amorites, from Arnon even to Jabbok, and from the wilderness even to Jordan.
23 İndi İsrailin Allahı Rəbb Öz xalqı İsraillilərin qarşısından Emorluları qovandan sonra sənmi buraya sahib çıxacaqsan?
So now the LORD God of Israel hath dispossessed the Amorites from before his people Israel, and shouldest thou possess it?
24 Allahın Kemoşun sənə verdiyi torpağı özünə irs etməzsənmi? Biz də Allahımız Rəbbin bizə verdiyi torpağı özümüzə irs edəcəyik.
Wilt not thou possess that which Chemosh thy god giveth thee to possess? So whomever the LORD our God shall drive out from before us, them will we possess.
25 İndi sənin Moav padşahı Sippor oğlu Balaqdan nəyin yaxşıdır? Gör o, İsraillə heç çəkişdimi? Yaxud onlara qarşı heç döyüşdümü?
And now art thou any thing better than Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab? did he ever strive against Israel, or did he ever fight against them,
26 Üç yüz il İsrail Xeşbon ilə Aroerdə, bunların ətraf qəsəbələrində və Arnon vadisi boyunca yerləşən bütün şəhərlərdə yaşadığı müddətdə niyə bu torpaqları geri almadınız?
While Israel dwelt in Heshbon and her towns, and in Aroer and her towns, and in all the cities that are along by the banks of Arnon, three hundred years? why therefore did ye not recover them within that time?
27 Mən sənə qarşı günah etmədim. Lakin sən mənə qarşı döyüşməklə mənə pislik edirsən. Qoy hakim olan Rəbb bu gün İsrail övladları ilə Ammon övladları arasında hökm etsin».
Therefore I have not sinned against thee, but thou doest me wrong to war against me: the LORD the Judge be judge this day between the children of Israel and the children of Ammon.
28 Lakin Ammon padşahı İftahın ona göndərdiyi sözlərə qulaq asmadı.
But the king of the children of Ammon hearkened not to the words of Jephthah which he sent him.
29 İftahın üzərinə Rəbbin Ruhu endi. O, Gileaddan və Menaşşedən keçdi, sonra Gileaddakı Mispadan keçib Ammon övladlarının üstünə getdi.
Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon Jephthah, and he passed over Gilead, and Manasseh, and passed over Mizpeh of Gilead, and from Mizpeh of Gilead he passed over to the children of Ammon.
30 İftah Rəbbə əhd edib dedi: «Əgər Ammon övladlarını, həqiqətən, mənə təslim etsən,
And Jephthah vowed a vow to the LORD, and said, If thou shalt without fail deliver the children of Ammon into my hands,
31 o zaman Ammon övladları ilə döyüşdən sağ-salamat qayıdanda mənim evimin darvazasından qarşıma birinci nə çıxarsa, Rəbbin olacaq və onu yandırma qurbanı edəcəyəm».
Then it shall be, that whatever cometh out of the doors of my house to meet me, when I return in peace from the children of Ammon, shall surely be the LORD’S, and I will offer it for a burnt offering.
32 İftah Ammon övladları ilə döyüşə çıxdı. Rəbb də Ammon övladlarını İftaha təslim etdi.
So Jephthah passed over to the children of Ammon to fight against them; and the LORD delivered them into his hands.
33 Aroerdən Minnitə çatana qədər iyirmi şəhəri və Avel-Keramimə qədər Ammon övladlarını çox böyük məğlubiyyətə uğratdı. Onlar İsraillilərə tabe oldular.
And he smote them from Aroer, even till thou comest to Minnith, even twenty cities, and to the plain of the vineyards, with a very great slaughter. Thus the children of Ammon were subdued before the children of Israel.
34 İftah Mispaya, öz evinə qayıtdı. Budur, İftahın qızı dəf çalıb oynayaraq onu qarşılamağa çıxdı. Bu onun yeganə övladı idi, ondan başqa nə oğlu, nə də qızı var idi.
And Jephthah came to Mizpeh to his house, and, behold, his daughter came out to meet him with timbrels and with dances: and she was his only child; beside her he had neither son nor daughter.
35 O, qızını görəndə paltarını cırıb dedi: «Vay, qızım! Belimi əydin, qəddimi əyənlərdən biri də sən oldun! Mən Rəbbə əhd etmişəm, artıq sözümdən dönə bilmərəm».
And it came to pass, when he saw her, that he tore his clothes, and said, Alas, my daughter! thou hast brought me very low, and thou art one of them that trouble me: for I have opened my mouth to the LORD, and I cannot go back.
36 Qızı ona dedi: «Ata, sən Rəbbə əhd etmisən. Madam ki Rəbb düşmənlərindən, Ammon övladlarından sənin üçün qisas aldı, söz ağzından necə çıxıbsa, mənə eləcə də et».
And she said to him, My father, if thou hast opened thy mouth to the LORD, do to me according to that which hath proceeded out of thy mouth; forasmuch as the LORD hath taken vengeance for thee of thy enemies, even of the children of Ammon.
37 Sonra qız atasına dedi: «Ancaq bu arzumu yerinə yetir: mənə iki ay izin ver, qoy rəfiqələrimlə dağları gəzib-dolaşaraq öz nakam qızlığım üçün ağlayım».
And she said to her father, Let this thing be done for me: let me alone two months, that I may go up and down upon the mountains, and bewail my virginity, I and my companions.
38 Atası ona «yaxşı, gedə bilərsən» deyərək ona iki ay müddətinə izin verdi. O da rəfiqələri ilə bərabər gedib dağlarda öz nakam qızlığına ağladı.
And he said, Go. And he sent her away for two months: and she went with her companions, and bewailed her virginity upon the mountains.
39 İki ay keçəndən sonra atasının yanına qayıtdı və atası onun barəsində etdiyi əhdi yerinə yetirdi. Qız ərə getməmişdi. Bundan sonra İsraildə belə bir adət oldu:
And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned to her father, who did with her according to his vow which he had vowed: and she knew no man. And it was a custom in Israel,
40 hər il İsrail qızları gedib Gileadlı İftahın qızı üçün ildə dörd gün yas tutdular.
That the daughters of Israel went yearly to lament the daughter of Jephthah the Gileadite four days in a year.
