1 Şaul bir il padşah oldu və İsrailin üzərində daha iki il padşahlıq edəndən sonra
Saul reigned one year; and when he had reigned two years over Israel,

Saul chose for himself three thousand men of Israel; of which two thousand were with Saul in Michmash and in mount Bethel, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and the rest of the people he sent every man to his tent.
3 Yonatan Gevadakı Filiştlilərin keşik dəstəsinin əsgərlərini qırdı və bunu bütün Filiştlilər eşitdilər. Şaul isə İbranilər eşitsinlər deyə bütün ölkədə şeypur çaldırdı.
And Jonathan smote the garrison of the Philistines that was in Geba, and the Philistines heard of it. And Saul blew the trumpet throughout all the land, saying, Let the Hebrews hear.
4 İsraillilərin hamısı Şaulun Filiştlilərin keşik dəstəsini qırdığını, Filiştlilərin İsrailə nifrət etdiyini eşitdi. Xalq Şaulun ətrafında yığılmaq üçün Qilqala çağırıldı.
And all Israel heard it said that Saul had smitten a garrison of the Philistines, and that Israel also was held in abomination with the Philistines. And the people were called together after Saul to Gilgal.
5 Filiştlilər İsraillə vuruşmaq üçün yığıldılar. Otuz min döyüş arabası, altı min atlı və dənizdəki qum dənələrinin sayı qədər camaat çıxıb Bet-Avenin şərqində Mikmasda ordugah qurdu.
And the Philistines gathered themselves together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the sea shore in multitude: and they came up, and encamped in Michmash, eastward from Bethaven.
6 İsraillilər təhlükə qarşısında olduqlarını gördülər, çünki xalq sıxışdırıldı, xalq mağaralarda, kolluqlarda, qayalarda, məqbərələrdə və nohurlarda gizləndi.
When the men of Israel saw that they were hedged in, (for the people were distressed, ) then the people hid themselves in caves, and in thickets, and in rocks, and in high places, and in pits.
7 İbranilərdən bəzisi İordan çayından Qad və Gilead torpağına keçmişdi, lakin Şaul isə hələ Qilqalda idi və bütün xalq qorxudan əsə-əsə onun ardınca gedirdi.
And some of the Hebrews went over Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead. As for Saul, he was yet in Gilgal, and all the people followed him trembling.
8 Şaul Şamuel təyin etdiyi vaxta qədər yeddi gün gözlədi, lakin Şamuel Qilqala gəlmədi, ona görə də xalq Şaulun yanından dağılmağa başladı.
And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him.
9 Şaul dedi: «Yandırma qurbanını və ünsiyyət qurbanını yanıma gətirin». O, yandırma qurbanını təqdim etdi.
And Saul said, Bring here a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering.
10 Yandırma qurbanının təqdimi qurtaranda Şamuel gəlib çıxdı və Şaul salamlaşmaq üçün onu qarşılamağa çıxdı.
And it came to pass, that as soon as he had finished offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might bless him.
11 Şamuel dedi: «Sən nə etmisən?» Şaul isə dedi: «Gördüm ki, ətrafımdakı xalq dağılır, sən isə təyin etdiyin gün gəlmədin və Filiştlilər Mikmasda toplanıb.
And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered themselves together at Michmash;
12 Dedim ki, indi Filiştlilər Qilqala, üstümə gələcəklər, mən isə hələ Rəbbin razılığını almamışam. Ona görə də özümü məcbur edib yandırma qurbanını təqdim etdim».
Therefore said I, The Philistines will now come down upon me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication to the LORD: I forced myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering.
13 Şamuel Şaula dedi: «Ağılsızlıq etdin, Allahın Rəbbin sənə verdiyi əmrə əməl etmədin. Belə olmasaydı, Rəbb İsrail üzərində sənin padşahlığını əbədi saxlayacaqdı.
And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever.
14 Lakin indi padşahlığın davam etməyəcək. Rəbb Özü üçün Öz ürəyinə yatan bir adam tapıb. Həmin adamı Rəbb xalqına başçı təyin etdi. Çünki sən Rəbbin verdiyi əmrlərə əməl etmədin».
But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.
15 Bundan sonra Şamuel Qilqalı tərk edib Binyaminlilərin Givea şəhərinə çıxdı. Şaul yanında olan xalqı saydı: altı yüz nəfərə qədər idi.
And Samuel arose, and went up from Gilgal to Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul numbered the people that were present with him, about six hundred men.
16 Şaul, oğlu Yonatan və yanında olan xalq Binyaminlilərin Geva şəhərində qalmaqda idi. Filiştlilər isə Mikmasda ordugah qurmuşdular.
And Saul, and Jonathan his son, and the people that were present with them, abode in Gibeah of Benjamin: but the Philistines encamped in Michmash.
17 Filişt ordugahından qarətçi hücumçular üç dəstəyə bölünüb çıxdılar. Bir dəstə Ofra yoluna – Şual torpağına yönəldi.
And the spoilers came out of the camp of the Philistines in three companies: one company turned to the way that leadeth to Ophrah, to the land of Shual:
18 Digər dəstə isə Bet-Xoron yoluna, o biri dəstə isə çölə – Sevoim vadisinə baxan sərhəd yoluna yönəldi.
And another company turned the way to Bethhoron: and another company turned to the way of the border that looketh to the valley of Zeboim toward the wilderness.
19 Bütün İsrail ölkəsində bir nəfər də olsun dəmirçi yox idi. Filiştlilər demişdilər ki, qoy İbranilər qılınc, nizə düzəltməsinlər.
Now there was no smith found throughout all the land of Israel: for the Philistines said, Lest the Hebrews make them swords or spears:
20 Bütün İsraillilər kotanlarını, kərkilərini, baltalarını və oraqlarını itiləmək üçün Filiştlilərin yanına gəlirdi.
But all the Israelites went down to the Philistines, to sharpen every man his share, and his coulter, and his axe, and his mattock.
21 Kotanın, kərkinin itiləmə qiyməti bir pim idi. Bellər, baltalar, bizlər üçün isə şekelin üçdə biri qədər gümüş pul alardılar.
And there was a charge of a third of a shekel for the mattocks, and for the coulters, and for the forks, and for the axes, and to sharpen the goads.
22 Ona görə də müharibə zamanı Şaulla Yonatanın yanında olan xalqın əlində qılınc və nizə yox idi, bu silahlar ancaq Şaulun və oğlu Yonatanın əlində olardı.
So it came to pass in the day of battle, that there was neither sword nor spear found in the hand of any of the people that were with Saul and Jonathan: but with Saul and with Jonathan his son was there found.
23 Filiştlilərin keşik dəstəsi Mikmas keçidinə çıxdı.
And the garrison of the Philistines went out to the pass of Michmash.
