1 Efrayimin dağlıq bölgəsində yerləşən Ramatayim-Sofim şəhərində Elqana adlı bir adam yaşayırdı. O, Efrayim sakini olub Suf tayfasından – Suf oğlu Toxu oğlu Elihu oğlu Yeroxamın oğlu idi.
Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim, a Zuphite of the hill country of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Toah, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite.
2 Elqananın Xanna və Peninna adında iki arvadı vardı. Peninnanın uşaqları var idi, amma Xannanın övladı olmurdu.
And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of other Peninnah. And Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children.
3 Elqana Ordular Rəbbinə səcdə qılmaq və qurban kəsmək üçün hər il öz şəhərindən Şiloya gedərdi. Orada Elinin iki oğlu – Xofni və Pinxas Rəbbin kahinləri idi.
This man went up out of his city from year to year to worship and to sacrifice to YHWH of hosts in Shiloh. The two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, priests of YHWH, were there.
4 Elqana qurban kəsilən gün arvadı Peninnaya, oğul və qızlarının hamısına pay verərdi.
When the day came that Elkanah sacrificed, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions:
5 Xannaya isə ikiqat pay verərdi. Rəbb onun bətnini bağlamışdı, buna baxmayaraq Elqana onu çox sevirdi.
but to Hannah he gave a double portion; for he loved Hannah, but YHWH had shut up her womb.

Her rival taunted her severely, to irritate her, because YHWH had shut up her womb.
7 Bu, illərlə belə davam edirdi. Xanna hər dəfə Rəbbin ibadətgahına gedəndə günüsü ona söz atar, Xanna da ağlayar, yemək yeməzdi.
As he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of YHWH, so she taunted her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.
8 Bir gün əri Elqana ona dedi: «Xanna, niyə ağlayırsan? Niyə yemək yemirsən? Axı niyə kədərlisən? Mən sənə on oğuldan da artıq deyiləmmi?»
Elkanah her husband said to her, "Hannah, why do you weep? Why do you not eat? Why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?"
9 Onlar Şiloda yeyib-içəndən sonra Xanna ayağa qalxdı. Kahin Eli Rəbbin məbədinin qapısının yanındakı kürsüdə oturmuşdu.
So Hannah rose after eating and drinking in Shiloh, and stood before YHWH. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat by the doorpost of the temple of YHWH.
10 Xanna ürək yanğısı ilə dua edərək acı-acı ağlayırdı.
She was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to YHWH, and wept bitterly.
11 Rəbbə yalvararaq əhdini belə söylədi: «Ey Ordular Rəbbi, Öz dərdli bəndənin vəziyyətini görürsən. Mən bəndəni unutmayıb bir oğul versən, oğlumun həyatını Sənə həsr etmək üçün verər və qoymaram ki, onun başına ülgüc dəysin».
She vowed a vow, and said, "YHWH of hosts, if you will indeed look on the affliction of your handmaid, and remember me, and not forget your handmaid, but will give to your handmaid a son, then I will set him before you as a Nazirite until the day of his death. And he will not drink wine or strong drink, and no razor will come on his head."
12 Xanna Rəbbin hüzurunda uzun müddət dua etdi. Eli isə onun ağzına baxırdı.
It happened, as she multiplied prayers before YHWH, that Eli saw her mouth.
13 Xanna qəlbində yalvardığı üçün yalnız dodaqları tərpənirdi, səsi eşidilmirdi. Eli elə güman etdi ki, o sərxoşdur.
And she was speaking in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk.
14 Ona görə də dedi: «Nə vaxta qədər sərxoşluq edəcəksən? Bəsdir, at bu şərabı».
So Eli said to her, "How long will you make yourself drunk? Put away your wine from you."
15 Xanna cavabında dedi: «Xeyr, ağam, mən nə şərab içmişəm, nə də başqa kefləndirici içki. Könlü qəm-qüssəli bir qadınam ki, sadəcə Rəbbin hüzurunda ürəyimi boşaldıram.
And Hannah answered, "No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but I poured out my soul before YHWH.
16 Kənizini pis qadın sanma. Bu yalvarışım indiyədək çəkdiyim böyük qayğı və əziyyətə görədir».
Do not count your handmaid as a worthless woman; for I have been speaking out of the abundance of my distress and my anguish."
17 Eli cavab verib dedi: «Salamat get, qoy İsrailin Allahı səni muradına çatdırsın!»
Then Eli answered, "Go in peace; and may the God of Israel grant your petition that you have asked of him."
18 Xanna «təki bəndən sənin gözlərində lütf tapsın» deyib yolu ilə getdi və yemək yedi. Artıq çöhrəsi kədərli deyildi.
She said, "Let your handmaid find favor in your sight." So the woman went her way, and entered her quarters, and ate; and her facial expression wasn't sad any more.
19 Ertəsi gün onlar sübh tezdən qalxıb Rəbbə səcdə qılandan sonra Ramadakı evlərinə qayıtdılar. Elqana arvadı Xanna ilə yaxınlıq etdi və Rəbb də Xannanı yada saldı.
They rose up in the morning early, and worshiped before YHWH, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and YHWH remembered her.
20 Vaxt keçdi, Xanna hamilə olub bir oğul doğdu. «Onu Rəbdən dilədim» deyərək adını Şamuel qoydu.
It happened, when the time had come, that Hannah conceived, and bore a son; and she named him Samuel, saying, "Because I have asked him of YHWH."
21 Elqana Rəbbə illik qurbanını və əhdini yerinə yetirmək üçün evdəkilərlə bərabər Şiloya getdi.
The man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer to YHWH the yearly sacrifice, and to redeem his vow and all the tithes of his land.
22 Amma Xanna getmədi. Ərinə «körpəni süddən kəsəndən sonra onu Rəbbə xidmət etmək üçün aparacağam və ömrü boyu orada qalacaq» dedi.
But Hannah did not go up; for she said to her husband, "Not until the child is weaned; then I will bring him, that he may appear before YHWH, and stay there forever."
23 Əri Elqana ona dedi: «Gözündə nə xoşdursa, elə də et, onu süddən ayırana qədər evdə otur. Qoy Rəbb Öz vədini yerinə yetirsin». Qadın evdə qalıb oğlunu süddən ayırana qədər əmizdirdi.
Elkanah her husband said to her, "Do what seems good in your eyes. Wait until you have weaned him; only may YHWH establish what you have said." So the woman waited and nursed her son, until she weaned him.
24 Uşağı süddən ayırandan sonra Xanna onu üç buğa, bir efa un və bir tuluq şərabla birlikdə Rəbbin Şilodakı ibadətgahına apardı. Uşaq isə hələ balaca idi.
And she went up with him to Shiloh with a three-year old bull, and bread, and one ephah of flour, and a skin of wine, and brought him to the house of YHWH in Shiloh. And the child was with them. And they went before YHWH, and his father slaughtered the sacrifice, which he did annually to YHWH. And he brought the child,
25 Buğanı kəsəndən sonra uşağı Eliyə verdilər.
and he slaughtered the bull. And Hannah, the mother of the child, brought him to Eli.
26 Xanna dedi: «Ey ağam, canına and olsun, burada – sənin yanında durub Rəbbə yalvaran qadın mənəm.
She said, "Oh, my lord, as your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood by you here, praying to YHWH.
27 Yalvarışım bu uşaq üçün idi, Rəbb muradımı yerinə yetirdi.
For this child I prayed; and YHWH has given me my petition which I asked of him.
28 Mən onu Rəbbə əhd etmişdim və ömrü boyu Rəbbə həsr olunmalıdır». Sonra uşaq orada Rəbbə səcdə etdi.
Therefore also I have lent him to YHWH. As long as he lives he is lent to YHWH." He worshiped YHWH there.
