উপদেশক 12

1 ১ বৃদ্ধকালৰ দুখ-কষ্টৰ দিন আৰু বছৰবোৰ অহাৰ আগেয়েই তুমি যৌৱন কালতেই তোমাৰ সৃষ্টিকর্তাক সোঁৱৰণ কৰা; সেই দিনবোৰত তুমি ক’বা, “জীয়াই থকাত মই আৰু সন্তোষ নাপাওঁ।”

Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw near, when you shall say, I have no pleasure in them;

2 ২ সূর্য, চন্দ্র আৰু তৰাবোৰৰ জ্যোতি তোমাৰ ওচৰত অন্ধকাৰ হৈ অহাৰ আগেয়েই, বৰষুণৰ পাছতেই পুনৰায় ক’লা ডাঁৱৰ অহাৰ আগেয়েই তুমি সৃষ্টিকর্তাক সোৱঁৰা।

While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain:

3 ৩ সেই সময়ত তোমাৰ ঘৰৰ প্রহৰী কঁপিব, শক্তিশালী লোক কুঁজা হৈ যাব, যি সকল তিৰোতাই জাঁত পিহে, তেওঁলোক তাকৰ হোৱাৰ বাবে পিহিবলৈ এৰিব আৰু খিড়িকিয়েদি চোৱাজনে স্পষ্টকৈ দেখা নাপাব।

In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened,

4 ৪ সেইসময়ত বাটৰ ফালৰ দুৱাৰ বন্ধ হ’ব, জাঁত পিহাৰ শব্দও বন্ধ হৈ যাব, এটি চৰাইৰ মাততে মানুহ চমকি সাৰ পাব, গায়িকাসকলৰ কণ্ঠৰ সুৰ কমি যাব।

And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of music shall be brought low;

5 ৫ সেই সময়ত মানুহে ওখ ঠাইত উঠি যাবলৈ ভয় খাব আৰু বাটত থকা বাধা-বিঘিনিৰ ওপৰেদি খোজ কাঢ়ি যাবলৈ ভয় খাব। তেতিয়া বাদাম গছত বগা ফুল ফুলিব, ফৰিঙৰ দৰে নিজকে টানি টানি খোজ কাঢ়িব, স্বাভাৱিক কামনা-বাসনা উত্তেজিত নহ’ব। তাৰ পাছতে মানুহ নিজৰ অনন্তকালৰ ঘৰলৈ গুছি যায় আৰু বিলাপকাৰীসকল শোভাযাত্রাৰ পথলৈ নামি যায়।

Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goes to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:

6 ৬ সেয়ে ৰূপৰ তাঁৰ ছিঙি যোৱাৰ পূর্বেই বা সোনৰ পাত্র ভাঙি যোৱাৰ পূর্বেই, নিজৰাৰ কাষত কলহ চূর্ণ-বিচূর্ণ হোৱাৰ পূর্বেই তোমাৰ সৃষ্টিকর্তাক সোঁৱৰণ কৰা।

Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.

7 ৭ মাটিৰ পৰা অহা ধুলি মাটিলৈ ঘূৰি যোৱাৰ পূর্বেই আৰু ঈশ্বৰে দিয়া আত্মা তেওঁলৈ উলটি যোৱাৰ পূর্বেই তুমি যৌৱন কালত তোমাৰ সৃষ্টিকৰ্ত্তাক সোঁৱৰা।

Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return to God who gave it.

8 ৮ উপদেশকে কৈছে, অসাৰৰ অসাৰ, সকলোৱেই অসাৰ।

Vanity of vanities, says the preacher; all is vanity.

9 ৯ উপদেশক নিজে জ্ঞানী আছিল আৰু তেওঁ লোকসকলকো জ্ঞানৰ শিক্ষা দিছিল। তেওঁ চিন্তা কৰি আৰু পৰীক্ষা কৰি অনেক নীতিবচন ৰচনা কৰিছিল।

And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yes, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.

10 ১০ উপদেশকে সত্যৰ ন্যায় বচন প্রাণৱন্ত ৰূপত ব্যৱহাৰ কৰি লিখিবলৈ বিচাৰিছে।

The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.

11 ১১ জ্ঞানী লোকসকলৰ কথা ৰখীয়াৰ তীক্ষ্ন লাঠিডালৰ নিচিনা। তেওঁলোকৰ কথাবোৰ একত্রিত কৰিলে ভাব হয়, সেইবোৰ গভীৰলৈকে হানি যোৱা গজালৰ নিচিনা। সেই সকলো এজন ৰখীয়াৰ দ্বাৰাই দিয়া হৈছে।

The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

12 ১২ হে মোৰ বোপা, তুমি সতৰ্ক হোৱা; অনেক পুথি লিখাৰ শেষ নাই। অধিক অধ্যয়নে শৰীৰক ক্লান্ত কৰে।

And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

13 ১৩ সকলোবোৰতো শুনা হ’ল: এতিয়া আহাঁ, আমি সকলোৱে সাৰ কথা শুনো। ঈশ্বৰলৈ ভয় ৰাখা, আৰু তেওঁৰ আজ্ঞা সমূহ পালন কৰা; কিয়নো মানুহৰ সকলো কৰ্তব্য এয়ে।

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

14 ১৪ ঈশ্বৰে ভাল কি বেয়া আটাইবোৰ গুপুত বিষয়ৰে সৈতে সকলো কৰ্মকে বিচাৰ স্থানলৈ আনিব।

For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
