ՏԻՏՈՍ 1

1 Պօղոս, Աստուծոյ ծառայ եւ Յիսուս Քրիստոսի առաքեալ՝ համաձայն Աստուծոյ ընտրեալներուն հաւատքին ու բարեպաշտութեամբ եղած ճշմարտութեան գիտակցութեան,

Paul, a servant of God, and an emissary of Yeshua the Messiah, according to the faith of God's chosen ones, and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness,

2 յաւիտենական կեանքի յոյսով՝ որ անսուտն Աստուած խոստացաւ դարերու ժամանակներէն առաջ (aiōnios g166)

in hope of everlasting life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began; (aiōnios g166)

3 - բայց յատուկ ատենին իր խօսքը բացայայտեց քարոզութեամբ՝ որ վստահուեցաւ ինծի մեր Փրկիչ Աստուծոյ հրամանով -,

but in his own time revealed his word in the message with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior;

4 Տիտոսի՝ հարազատ զաւակիս հասարակաց հաւատքին համեմատ. շնորհք եւ խաղաղութիւն Հայր Աստուծմէ ու Տէր Յիսուս Քրիստոսէ՝ մեր Փրկիչէն:

to Titus, my true child according to a common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Messiah Yeshua our Savior.

5 Ես ձգեցի քեզ Կրետէ, որպէսզի ուղղես բոլոր պակաս մնացած բաները ու երէցներ նշանակես ամէն քաղաքի մէջ՝ ինչպէս պատուիրեցի քեզի.

I left you in Crete for this reason, that you would set in order the things that were lacking, and appoint elders in every city, as I directed you;

6 եթէ մէկը ըլլայ անմեղադրելի, մէկ կնոջ ամուսին, եւ ունենայ հաւատարիմ զաւակներ, որոնք անառակութեան համար ամբաստանուած կամ ըմբոստ չըլլան:

if anyone is blameless, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, who are not accused of loose or unruly behavior.

7 Որովհետեւ եպիսկոպոսը՝ իբր Աստուծոյ տնտես՝ պէտք է ըլլայ անմեղադրելի. ոչ ինքնահաւան, ոչ բարկացող, ոչ գինեմոլ, ոչ զարնող, ոչ ամօթալի շահախնդրութեան հետամուտ եղող,

For the overseer must be blameless, as God's steward; not self-pleasing, not easily angered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for dishonest gain;

8 հապա՝ հիւրասէր, բարեսէր, խոհեմ, արդար, սուրբ, ժուժկալ,

but given to hospitality, as a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy, and disciplined;

9 հաստատ բռնելով վարդապետութեան հաւատարիմ խօսքը, որպէսզի կարենայ թէ՛ յորդորել ողջամիտ վարդապետութեամբ, թէ՛ կշտամբել հակաճառողները:

holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict those who contradict him.

10 Քանի որ շատ են ըմբոստները, դատարկախօսներն ու հրապուրողները, մա՛նաւանդ անոնք՝ որ թլփատութենէն են:

For there are many rebellious people, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,

11 Պէտք է պապանձեցնել զանոնք. անոնք կը կործանեն ամբողջ տուներ, եւ կը սորվեցնեն անպատեհ բաներ՝ ամօթալի շահախնդրութեան համար:

whose mouths must be silenced; who are upsetting whole families, teaching things which they should not, for the sake of dishonest gain.

12 Անոնցմէ մէկը՝ իրենց սեփական մարգարէն՝ ըսած է. «Կրետացիները միշտ ստախօս են, չար գազաններ, դատարկապորտներ»:

One of them, a prophet of their own, said, "Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, and idle gluttons."

13 Այս վկայութիւնը ճշմարիտ է. ուստի սաստիկ կշտամբէ՛ զանոնք, որպէսզի առողջանան հաւատքին մէջ,

This testimony is true. For this cause, reprove them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,

14 ուշադրութիւն չդարձնելով հրէական առասպելներուն ու ճշմարտութենէն խոտորող մարդոց պատուէրներուն:

not paying attention to Jewish myths and commandments of people who reject the truth.

15 Մաքուրներուն՝ ամէն բան մաքուր է. բայց պիղծերուն եւ անհաւատներուն՝ ոչինչ մաքուր է, հապա անոնց միտքն ալ, խղճմտանքն ալ պղծուած են:

To the pure, all things are pure; but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.

16 Կը դաւանին թէ կը ճանչնան Աստուած. բայց կ՚ուրանան զայն իրենց գործերով, ըլլալով գարշելի եւ անհնազանդ, ու խոտելի՝ ամէն բարի գործի հանդէպ:

They profess that they know God, but by their works they deny him, being abominable, disobedient, and unfit for any good work.
