ԵՓԵՍԱՑԻՍ 4

1 Ուստի ես՝ Տէրոջ բանտարկեալը՝ կ՚աղաչե՛մ ձեզի, որ ձեր ընթացքը արժանավայել ըլլայ այն կոչումին՝ որով կանչուեցաք,

I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

2 լման խոնարհութեամբ ու հեզութեամբ, համբերատարութեամբ, սիրով իրարու հանդուրժելով,

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

3 ջանալով պահել Սուրբ Հոգիին միաբանութիւնը՝ խաղաղութեան կապով:

Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

4 Մէ՛կ մարմին կայ, եւ մէ՛կ Հոգի, ինչպէս մէ՛կ յոյսով կանչուեցաք ձեր կոչումին:

[There is] one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;

5 Տէրը մէ՛կ է, հաւատքը՝ մէ՛կ, մկրտութիւնը՝ մէ՛կ:

One Lord, one faith, one baptism,

6 Մէ՛կ է Աստուած եւ բոլորին Հայրը, որ բոլորէն վեր, բոլորին հետ եւ ձեր բոլորին մէջն է:

One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and through all, and in you all.

7 Բայց մեզմէ իւրաքանչիւրին շնորհք տրուած է՝ Քրիստոսի պարգեւին չափին համեմատ:

But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

8 Ուստի կ՚ըսէ. «Երբ ելաւ բարձր տեղը՝ գերեվարեց գերութիւնը եւ նուէրներ տուաւ մարդոց»:

Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

9 (Իսկ այդ «ելաւ»ը ի՞նչ ըսել է, եթէ ոչ նշանակել՝ թէ ինք նաեւ նախապէս իջաւ երկրի ստորին մասերը:

(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?

10 Ա՛ն՝ որ իջաւ, նաեւ նոյնն է՝ որ ելաւ բոլոր երկինքներէն աւելի վեր, որպէսզի լեցնէ ամէն բան: )

He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

11 Եւ ինք տուաւ ոմանք՝ առաքեալներ ըլլալու, ոմանք՝ մարգարէներ, ոմանք՝ աւետարանիչներ, ոմանք՝ հովիւներ ու վարդապետներ,

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

12 սուրբերուն կատարելութեան համար, սպասարկութեան գործին համար, Քրիստոսի մարմինին շինութեան համար.

For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

13 մինչեւ որ բոլորս հասնինք հաւատքին եւ Աստուծոյ Որդին ճանչնալու միաբանութեան, կատարեալ մարդու վիճակին, Քրիստոսի լիութեան հասակի չափին:

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

14 Որպէսզի ա՛լ ասկէ ետք մանուկ չըլլանք, տարուբերած ու վարդապետութեան ամէն հովէ հոս-հոն քշուած՝ մարդոց խաբեբայութեամբ, որոնք կը մոլորեցնեն խորամանկութեան հնարքներով.

That we [henceforth] be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

15 հապա՝ ճշմարտութիւնը խօսելով սիրոյ մէջ, ամէն բանի մէջ աճինք անո՛վ՝ որ գլուխն է, այսինքն՝ Քրիստոսով:

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, [even] Christ:

16 Անով է որ ամբողջ մարմինը, յարմարութեամբ միասին կազմուած եւ իրարու կցուած ամէն յօդի օժանդակութեամբ՝ ամէն մասի ներգործութեան չափին համեմատ, կ՚աճի սիրոյ մէջ՝ իր շինութեան համար:

From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

17 Ուրեմն սա՛ կը յայտարարեմ ու Տէրոջմով կը վկայեմ, որ դուք այլեւս չընթանաք այնպէս՝ ինչպէս ուրիշ հեթանոսները կ՚ընթանան, իրենց միտքին ունայնութեան մէջ:

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

18 Անոնց միտքը խաւարած է, եւ իրենք ուծացած են Աստուծոյ կեանքէն՝ իրենց մէջ եղած անգիտութեան եւ իրենց սիրտին կուրութեան պատճառով:

Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

19 Անզգայ դարձած՝ անձնատուր եղան ցոփութեան, որպէսզի ամէն տեսակ անմաքրութիւն գործեն ագահութեամբ:

Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.

20 Բայց դուք ա՛յսպէս չսորվեցաք Քրիստոսը,

But ye have not so learned Christ;

21 եթէ իսկապէս լսեցիք զինք եւ սորվեցաք իրմէ՝ Յիսուսի մէջ եղող ճշմարտութեան համաձայն՝

If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

22 որպէսզի թօթափէք ձեր նախկին վարքին վերաբերող հին մարդը, - որ ապականած է խաբեբայ ցանկութիւններով, -

That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

23 նորոգուիք ձեր միտքին հոգիով,

And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

24 ու հագնիք նո՛ր մարդը, որ ստեղծուած է արդարութեամբ եւ ճշմարիտ սրբութեամբ՝ Աստուծոյ պատկերին համաձայն:

And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

25 Ուստի՝ թօթափելով ստելը՝ ճշմարտութի՛ւնը խօսեցէք իրարու հետ՝՝, որովհետեւ մենք իրարու անդամներ ենք:

Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

26 Բարկացէ՛ք, բայց մի՛ մեղանչէք. արեւը թող մայր չմտնէ ձեր բարկացած վիճակին վրայ,

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

27 ու տեղ մի՛ տաք Չարախօսին:

Neither give place to the devil.

28 Ա՛ն որ կը գողնար՝ ա՛լ թող չգողնայ. այլ մանաւանդ թող աշխատի՝ իր ձեռքերով գործելով ինչ որ բարի է, որպէսզի բան մը ունենայ տալու կարօտեալին:

Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with [his] hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.

29 Ո՛չ մէկ վատ խօսք թող ելլէ ձեր բերանէն, հապա՝ ինչ որ բարի է, շինութեան կարիքին համեմատ, որպէսզի շնորհք տայ լսողներուն:

Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

30 Եւ մի՛ տրտմեցնէք Աստուծոյ Սուրբ Հոգին, որով դուք կնքուեցաք ազատագրութեան օրուան համար:

And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

31 Ամէն տեսակ դառնութիւն, զայրոյթ, բարկութիւն, գոչիւն ու հայհոյութիւն թող վերցուին ձեզմէ՝ ամէն տեսակ չարամտութեան հետ:

Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

32 Եւ քա՛ղցր եղէք իրարու հանդէպ, գթած, ներելով իրարու, ինչպէս Աստուած Քրիստոսով ներեց ձեզի:

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
