ܪ̈ܗܘܡܝܐ 10

1 ܐܚܝ ܨܒܝܢܐ ܕܠܒܝ ܘܒܥܘܬܝ ܕܠܘܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܚܠܦܝܗܘܢ ܕܢܚܘܢ

Brethren! the delight of my own heart and my supplication God-ward in their behalf, are for salvation;

2 ܡܤܗܕ ܐܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܕܛܢܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܝܬ ܒܗܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܠܘ ܒܝܕܥܬܐ

For I bear them witness that they have, a zeal for God, —but not according to correct knowledge;

3 ܟܐܢܘܬܗ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܠܐ ܝܕܥܘ ܐܠܐ ܒܥܘ ܕܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܕܢܦܫܗܘܢ ܢܩܝܡܘܢ ܘܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܠܟܐܢܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܠܐ ܐܫܬܥܒܕܘ

For, not knowing God’s righteousness and, their own, seeking to establish, unto the righteousness of God, have they not submitted;

4 ܤܟܗ ܓܝܪ ܕܢܡܘܤܐ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܗܘ ܠܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܠܟܠ ܕܡܗܝܡܢ

For Christ is an end of law, for righteousness, unto every one that believeth.

5 ܡܘܫܐ ܓܝܪ ܗܟܢܐ ܟܬܒ ܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܕܒܢܡܘܤܐ ܕܡܢ ܕܢܥܒܕ ܗܠܝܢ ܢܚܐ ܒܗܝܢ

For, Moses, writeth that—as touching the righteousness that is by law, The man that hath done [it], shall live thereby;

6 ܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪܐ ܕܠܐ ܬܐܡܪ ܒܠܒܟ ܕܡܢܘ ܤܠܩ ܠܫܡܝܐ ܘܐܚܬ ܠܡܫܝܚܐ

Whereas, the righteousness by faith, thus speaketh—Do not say in thy heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? That is, to bring, Christ, down,

7 ܘܡܢܘ ܢܚܬ ܠܬܗܘܡܐ ܕܫܝܘܠ ܘܐܤܩ ܠܡܫܝܚܐ ܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܡܝܬܐ (Abyssos g12)

Or, Who shall descend into the abyss? That is, to bring up, Christ, from among the dead; (Abyssos g12)

8 ܐܠܐ ܡܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܩܪܝܒ ܗܘ ܠܟ ܦܬܓܡܐ ܠܦܘܡܟ ܘܠܠܒܟ ܗܕܐ ܗܝ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܡܟܪܙܝܢܢ

But what saith it? Near thee, is the declaration, In thy mouth and in thy heart, —that is, the declaration of the faith, which we proclaim: —

9 ܘܐܢ ܬܘܕܐ ܒܦܘܡܟ ܒܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܬܗܝܡܢ ܒܠܒܟ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܩܝܡܗ ܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܡܝܬܐ ܬܚܐ

That, if thou shalt confess the declaration with thy mouth—That Jesus is, Lord, and shalt believe with thy hear—That, God, raised him from among the dead, thou shalt be saved; —

10 ܠܒܐ ܓܝܪ ܕܡܗܝܡܢ ܒܗ ܡܙܕܕܩ ܘܦܘܡܐ ܕܡܘܕܐ ܒܗ ܚܝܐ

For, in heart, it is to be believed unto righteousness, and, by mouth, it is to be confessed unto salvation.

11 ܐܡܪ ܓܝܪ ܟܬܒܐ ܕܟܠ ܕܡܗܝܡܢ ܒܗ ܠܐ ܢܒܗܬ

For the scripture saith—No one that resteth faith thereupon, shall be put to shame?

12 ܘܒܗܕܐ ܠܐ ܦܪܫ ܠܐ ܠܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܘܠܐ ܠܐܪܡܝܐ ܚܕ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܕܟܠܗܘܢ ܕܥܬܝܪ ܒܟܠ ܕܩܪܐ ܠܗ

For there is no distinction—of Jew or Greek, —for, the same [Lord], is Lord of all, being rich unto all who call upon him;

13 ܟܠ ܓܝܪ ܕܢܩܪܐ ܫܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܢܚܐ

For, Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved: —

14 ܐܝܟܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܢܩܪܘܢ ܠܐܝܢܐ ܕܠܐ ܗܝܡܢܘ ܒܗ ܐܘ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܢܗܝܡܢܘܢ ܠܗܘ ܕܠܐ ܫܡܥܘܗܝ ܐܘ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܢܫܡܥܘܢ ܕܠܐ ܡܟܪܙܢܐ

How, then, shall men call upon one in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in one of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear, without one to proclaim?

15 ܐܘ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܢܟܪܙܘܢ ܐܢ ܠܐ ܢܫܬܠܚܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܟܬܝܒ ܕܡܐ ܝܐܝܢ ܪܓܠܝܗܘܢ ܕܡܤܒܪܝ ܫܠܡܐ ܘܕܡܤܒܪܝ ܛܒܬܐ

And how shall they proclaim, except they be sent? Even as it is written—How beautiful the feet of them that bring glad tidings of good things!

16 ܐܠܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܐܫܬܡܥܘ ܠܤܒܪܬܐ ܕܐܘܢܓܠܝܘܢ ܐܫܥܝܐ ܓܝܪ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝ ܡܢܘ ܗܝܡܢ ܠܒܪܬ ܩܠܢ

But, not all, have become obedient unto the glad tidings; —for, Isaiah, saith—Lord! who believed what we have heard?

17 ܡܟܝܠ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܡܢ ܡܫܡܥ ܐܕܢܐ ܗܝ ܘܡܫܡܥ ܐܕܢܐ ܡܢ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ

Hence, our faith, cometh by something heard, and, that which is heard, through a declaration of Christ.

18 ܐܠܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܕܠܡܐ ܠܐ ܫܡܥܘ ܘܗܐ ܒܟܠܗ ܐܪܥܐ ܢܦܩܬ ܒܪܬ ܩܠܗܘܢ ܘܒܤܘܦܝܗ ܕܬܒܝܠ ܡܠܝܗܘܢ

But I say: Have they not heard? Yea indeed, —into all the earth, hath gone forth their sound, and, unto the ends of the inhabited world, their declarations.

19 ܐܠܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܕܠܡܐ ܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܝܤܪܝܠ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܡܘܫܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܛܢܟܘܢ ܒܥܡ ܕܠܐ ܥܡ ܘܒܥܡܐ ܕܠܐ ܡܬܛܦܝܤ ܐܪܓܙܟܘܢ

But I say: Hath, Israel, not come to know? First, Moses, saith—I, will provoke you to jealousy on account of a no-nation, on account of an undiscerning nation, will I make you very angry.

20 ܐܫܥܝܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪܚ ܘܐܡܪ ܕܐܬܚܙܝܬ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܒܥܐܘܢܝ ܘܐܫܬܟܚܬ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܥܠܝ ܠܐ ܫܐܠܘ

Isaiah, however, waxeth daring, and saith, —I have been found by them who after me were not seeking, manifest have I become unto them who for me were not enquiring;

21 ܠܐܝܤܪܝܠ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܕܦܫܛܬ ܐܝܕܝ ܝܘܡܐ ܟܠܗ ܠܘܬ ܥܡܐ ܕܡܬܚܪܐ ܘܠܐ ܡܬܛܦܝܤ

Whereas, regarding Israel, he saith—All day long, have I stretched forth my hands unto a people unyielding and contradicting.
