2 صَمُوئيل 23

١ 1 وَهَذِهِ كَلِمَاتُ دَاوُدَ الأَخِيرَةُ: هَذَا مَا أُوْحِيَ بِهِ إِلَى دَاوُدَ بْنِ يَسَّى، وَمَا تَنَبَّأَ بِهِ الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي عَظَّمَهُ الْعَلِيُّ، الرَّجُلُ الَّذِي مَسَحَهُ إِلَهُ يَعْقُوبَ. هَذَا هُوَ مُرَتِّلُ إِسْرَائِيلَ الْمَحْبُوبُ.

Now these are the last words of David. David the son of Jesse saith, And the man who was raised on high saith, The anointed of the God of Jacob, And the sweet psalmist of Israel:

٢ 2 «تَكَلَّمَ رُوحُ الرَّبِّ بِفَمِي، وَكَلِمَتُهُ نَطَقَ بِهَا لِسَانِي.

The Spirit of Jehovah spake by me, And his word was upon my tongue.

٣ 3 إِلَهُ إِسْرَائِيلَ تَكَلَّمَ، صَخْرَةُ إِسْرَائِيلَ قَالَ لِي: عِنْدَمَا يَحْكُمُ إِنْسَانٌ بِعَدْلٍ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَيَتَسَلَّطُ بِمَخَافَةِ اللهِ،

The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spake to me: One that ruleth over men righteously, That ruleth in the fear of God,

٤ 4 فَإِنَّهُ يُشْرِقُ عَلَيْهِمْ كَنُورِ الْفَجْرِ، وَكَالشَّمْسِ يَشِعُّ عَلَيْهِمْ فِي صَبَاحٍ صَافٍ، وَكَالْمَطَرِ الَّذِي يَسْتَنْبِتُ عُشْبَ الأَرْضِ.

[He shall be] as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, A morning without clouds, [When] the tender grass [springeth] out of the earth, Through clear shining after rain.

٥ 5 أَلَيْسَتْ هَكَذَا عَلاَقَةُ بَيْتِي بِاللهِ؟ أَلَمْ يُبْرِمْ مَعِي عَهْداً أَبَدِيّاً كَامِلاً وَمُؤَمَّناً؟ أَلاَ يُكَلِّلُ خَلاَصِي بِالْفَلاَحِ وَيَضْمَنُ تَحْقِيقَ رَغَائِبِي؟

Verily my house is not so with God; Yet he hath made with me an everlasting covenant, Ordered in all things, and sure: For it is all my salvation, and all [my] desire, Although he maketh it not to grow.

٦ 6 أَمَّا الأَشْرَارُ فَيُطْرَحُونَ جَمِيعاً كَالشَّوْكِ، لأَنَّهُمْ يَجْرَحُونَ الْيَدَ الَّتِي تَلْمُسُهُمْ.

But the ungodly shall be all of them as thorns to be thrust away, Because they cannot be taken with the hand;

٧ 7 وَكُلُّ مَنْ يَمَسُّهُمْ يَتَسَلَّحُ بِحَدِيدٍ وقَنَاةِ رُمْحٍ، وَتَلْتَهِمُهُمُ النَّارُ جَمِيعاً فِي مَكَانِهِمْ».

But the man that toucheth them Must be armed with iron and the staff of a spear: And they shall be utterly burned with fire in [their] place.

٨ 8 وَهَذِهِ أَسْمَاءُ رِجَالِ دَاوُدَ الأَبْطَالِ: يُوشَيْبُ بَشَّبَثُ التَّحْكَمُونِيُّ، وَكَانَ قَائِدَ الثَّلاَثَةِ، هَاجَمَ بِرُمْحِهِ ثَمَانِي مِئَةٍ وَقَتَلَهُمْ دَفْعَةً وَاحِدَةً.

These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb-basshebeth a Tahchemonite, chief of the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite, against eight hundred slain at one time.

٩ 9 وَيَلِيهِ أَلِعَازَارُ بْنُ دُودُو بْنِ أَخُوخِي، وَهُوَ أَحَدُ الأَبْطَالِ الثَّلاَثَةِ الَّذِينَ كَانُوا مَعَ دَاوُدَ حِينَ عَيَّرُوا الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ (فِي أَفَسِ دَمِّيمَ) الْمُجْتَمِعِينَ هُنَاكَ لِلْحَرْبِ، وَعِنْدَمَا تَقَهْقَرَ رِجَالُ إِسْرَائِيلَ،

And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodai the son of an Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away.

١٠ 10 صَمَدَ هُوَ وَظَلَّ يُهَاجِمُ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ حَتَّى كَلَّتْ يَدُهُ وَلَصِقَتْ بِالسَّيْفِ، وَوَهَبَهُ الرَّبُّ نَصْراً مُؤَزَّراً فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ، وَمَا لَبِثَ أَنْ رَجَعَ الشَّعْبُ لِنَهْبِ الْغَنَائِمِ فَقَطْ.

He arose, and smote the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand clave unto the sword; and Jehovah wrought a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to take spoil.

١١ 11 وَيَعْقُبُهُ شَمَّةُ بْنُ أَجِي الْهَرَارِيُّ. وَكَانَ الْفِلِسْطِينِيُّونَ قَدْ حَشَدُوا جَيْشاً فِي قِطْعَةِ حَقْلٍ مَزْرُوعَةٍ بِالْعَدَسِ، فَهَرَبَ الإِسْرَائِيلِيُّونَ أَمَامَهُمْ.

And after him was Shammah the son of Agee a Hararite. And the Philistines were gathered together into a troop, where was a plot of ground full of lentils; and the people fled from the Philistines.

١٢ 12 لَكِنَّ شَمَّةَ ثَبَتَ فِي مَكَانِهِ وَسَطَ قِطْعَةِ الْحَقْلِ، وَقَضَى عَلَى الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ، وَأَنْقَذَ الْحَقْلَ مِنْهُمْ، فَوَهَبَهُ اللهُ النَّصْرَ عَلَيْهِمْ.

But he stood in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and slew the Philistines; and Jehovah wrought a great victory.

١٣ 13 وَفِي مَوْسِمِ الْحَصَادِ، أَقْبَلَ هَؤُلاَءِ الثَّلاَثَةُ مِنْ بَيْنِ الثَّلاَثِينَ رَئِيساً إِلَى دَاوُدَ اللاَّجِئِ إِلَى مَغَارَةِ عَدُلاَّمَ، وَكَانَ جَيْشُ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ آنَئِذٍ مُعَسْكِراً فِي وَادِي الرَّفَائِيِّينَ،

And three of the thirty chief men went down, and came to David in the harvest time unto the cave of Adullam; and the troop of the Philistines was encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

١٤ 14 بَيْنَمَا دَاوُدُ مُعْتَصِماً فِي الْحِصْنِ، وَحَامِيَةُ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ نَازِلةً فِي بَيْتِ لَحْمٍ.

And David was then in the stronghold; and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Beth-lehem.

١٥ 15 فَتَأَوَّهَ دَاوُدُ قَائِلاً: «مَنْ يَسْقِينِي مَاءً مِنْ بِئْرِ بَيْتِ لَحْمٍ الْقَائِمَةِ عِنْدَ بَوَّابَةِ الْمَدِينَةِ؟»

And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me water to drink of the well of Beth-lehem, which is by the gate!

١٦ 16 فَاقْتَحَمَ الأَبْطَالُ الثَّلاَثَةُ مُعَسْكَرَ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ، وَجَلَبُوا مَاءً مِنْ بِئْرِ بَيْتِ لَحْمٍ الْقَائِمَةِ عِنْدَ الْبَوَّابَةِ، وَحَمَلُوهُ إِلَى دَاوُدَ. فَلَمْ يَشَأْ أَنْ يَشْرَبَهُ بَلْ سَكَبَهُ لِلرَّبِّ،

And the three mighty men brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Beth-lehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but he would not drink thereof, but poured it out unto Jehovah.

١٧ 17 قَائِلاً: «مَعَاذَ اللهِ أَنْ أَفْعَلَ هَذَا! إِنَّهُ دَمُ الرِّجَالِ الَّذِينَ جَازَفُوا بِأَنْفُسِهِمْ». وَهَكَذَا أَبَى أَنْ يَشْرَبَهُ. هَذَا مَا قَامَ بِهِ هَؤُلاَءِ الأَبْطَالُ الثَّلاَثَةُ.

And he said, Be it far from me, O Jehovah, that I should do this: [shall I drink] the blood of the men that went in jeopardy of their lives? therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.

١٨ 18 وَكَانَ أَبِيشَايُ أَخُو يُوآبَ وَابْنُ صُرُويَّةَ رَئِيسَ ثَلاَثَةٍ أَيْضاً. هَذَا جَابَهَ بِرُمْحِهِ ثَلاَثَ مِئَةٍ وَقَتَلَهُمْ، فَذَاعَتْ شُهْرَتُهُ بَيْنَ الثَّلاَثَةِ،

And Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief of the three. And he lifted up his spear against three hundred and slew them, and had a name among the three.

١٩ 19 وَارْتَفَعَتْ مَكَانَتُهُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَصَارَ لَهُمْ رَئِيساً، إِلاَّ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَصِلْ إِلَى مَرْتَبَةِ الثَّلاَثَةِ الأُوَلِ.

Was he not most honorable of the three? therefore he was made their captain: howbeit he attained not unto the [first] three.

٢٠ 20 وَكَانَ بَنَايَاهُو بْنُ يَهُويَادَاعَ مُحَارِباً مُجِيداً مِنْ قَبْصِئِيلَ، هَذَا صَرَعَ بَطَلَيْ مُوآبَ، وَنَزَلَ إِلَى وَسَطِ جُبٍّ فِي يَوْمٍ مُثْلِجٍ وَقَتَلَ أَسَداً،

And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, he slew the two [sons of] Ariel of Moab: he went down also and slew a lion in the midst of a pit in time of snow.

٢١ 21 كَمَا قَضَى عَلَى رَجُلٍ مِصْرِيٍّ عِمْلاَقٍ كَانَ يَحْمِلُ بِيَدِهِ رُمْحاً، فَتَصَدَّى لَهُ بِعَصاً وَخَطَفَ الرُّمْحَ مِنْ يَدِهِ وَقَتَلَهُ بِهِ.

And he slew an Egyptian, a goodly man: and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and slew him with his own spear.

٢٢ 22 هَذَا مَا صَنَعَهُ بَنَايَاهُو بْنُ يَهُويَادَاعَ فَذَاعَتْ شُهْرَتُهُ بَيْنَ الأَبْطَالِ الثَّلاَثَةِ.

These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and had a name among the three mighty men.

٢٣ 23 وَارْتَفَعَتْ مَكَانَتُهُ عَلَى الثَّلاَثِينَ قَائِداً، وَلَكِنَّهُ لَمْ يَبْلُغْ مَرْتَبَةَ الثَّلاَثَةِ الأُوَلِ فَعَيَّنَهُ دَاوُدُ قَائِداً لِحَرَسِهِ الْخَاصِّ.

He was more honorable than the thirty, but he attained not to the [first] three. And David set him over his guard.

٢٤ 24 وَكَانَ عَسَائِيلُ أَخُو يُوآبَ وَاحِداً مِنَ الثَّلاَثِينَ رَئِيساً، وَكَذَلِكَ أَلْحَانَانُ بْنُ دُودُو مِنْ بَيْتِ لَحْمٍ،

Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Beth-lehem,

٢٥ 25 وَشَمَّةُ الْحَرُودِيُّ وَأَلِيقَا الْحَرُودِيُّ

Shammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,

٢٦ 26 وَحَالَصُ الْفَلْطِيُّ، وَعِيرَا بْنُ عِقِّيشَ التَّقُوعِيُّ

Helez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,

٢٧ 27 وَأَبِيعَزَرُ الْعَنَاثُوثِيُّ، وَمَبُونَايُ الْحُوشَاتِيُّ.

Abiezer the Anathothite, Mebunnai the Hushathite,

٢٨ 28 وَصَلْمُونُ الأَخُوخِيُّ، وَمَهْرَايُ النَّطُوفَاتِيُّ.

Zalmon the Ahohite, Maharai the Netophathite,

٢٩ 29 وَخَالَبُ بْنُ بَعْنَةَ النَّطُوفَاتِيُّ، وَإِتَّايُ بْنُ رِيبَايَ مِنْ جِبْعَةِ بِنِي بَنْيَامِينَ،

Heleb the son of Baanah the Netophathite, Ittai the son of Ribai of Gibeah of the children of Benjamin,

٣٠ 30 وَبَنَايَا الْفَرْعَتُونِيُّ، وَهِدَّايُ مِنْ أَوْدِيَةِ جَاعَشَ.

Benaiah a Pirathonite, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash.

٣١ 31 وَأَبُو عَلْبُونَ الْعَرَبَاتِيُّ، وَعَزْمُوتُ الْبَرْحُومِيُّ.

Abi-albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth the Barhumite,

٣٢ 32 وَأَلْيَحْبَا الشَّعْلُبُّونِيُّ، وَيُونَاثَانُ مِنْ بَنِي يَاشَنَ.

Eliahba the Shaalbonite, the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,

٣٣ 33 وَشَمَّةُ الْهَرَارِيُّ، وَأَخِيآمُ بْنُ شَارَارَ الأَرَارِيُّ،

Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Ararite,

٣٤ 34 وَأَلِيفَلَطُ بْنُ أَحَسْبَايَ ابْنُ الْمَعْكِيِّ، وَأَلِيعَامُ بْنُ أَخِيتُوفَلَ الْجِيلُونِيُّ.

Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai, the son of the Maacathite, Eliam the son of Ahithophel the Gilonite,

٣٥ 35 وَحَصْرَايُ الْكَرْمَلِيُّ، وَفَعْرَايُ الأَرَبِيُّ،

Hezro the Carmelite, Paarai the Arbite,

٣٦ 36 وَيَجْآلُ بْنُ نَاثَانَ مِنْ صُوبَةَ، وَبَانِي الْجَادِيُّ،

Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite,

٣٧ 37 وَصَالَقُ الْعَمُّوِنيُّ، وَنَحْرَايُ الْبَئِيرُوتِيُّ حَامِلُ سِلاحِ يُوآبَ بْنِ صُرُويَّةَ،

Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai the Beerothite, armorbearers to Joab the son of Zeruiah,

٣٨ 38 وَعِيرَا الْيِثْرِيُّ، وَجَارَبُ الْيِثْرِيُّ،

Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,

٣٩ 39 وَأُورِيَّا الْحِثِّيُّ. وَهُمْ فِي جُمْلَتِهِمْ سَبْعَةٌ وَثَلاَثُونَ بَطَلاً.

Uriah the Hittite: thirty and seven in all.
