أَمْثَالٌ 13

١ 1 اَلِٱبْنُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ يَقْبَلُ تَأْدِيبَ أَبِيهِ، وَٱلْمُسْتَهْزِئُ لَا يَسْمَعُ ٱنْتِهَارًا.

A son wise [the] discipline of a father and a mocker not he listens to a rebuke.

٢ 2 مِنْ ثَمَرَةِ فَمِهِ يَأْكُلُ ٱلْإِنْسَانُ خَيْرًا، وَمَرَامُ ٱلْغَادِرِينَ ظُلْمٌ.

From [the] fruit of [the] mouth of a person he eats good thing[s] and [the] appetite of treacherous [people] [is] violence.

٣ 3 مَنْ يَحْفَظُ فَمَهُ يَحْفَظُ نَفْسَهُ. مَنْ يَشْحَرْ شَفَتَيْهِ فَلَهُ هَلَاكٌ.

[one who] guards Mouth his [is] protecting life his [one who] opens lips his ruin [belongs] to him.

٤ 4 نَفْسُ ٱلْكَسْلَانِ تَشْتَهِي وَلَا شَيْءَ لَهَا، وَنَفْسُ ٱلْمُجْتَهِدِينَ تَسْمَنُ.

[is] coveting And nothing appetite his a sluggard and [the] appetite of diligent [people] it will be made fat.

٥ 5 اَلصِّدِّيقُ يُبْغِضُ كَلَامَ كَذِبٍ، وَٱلشِّرِّيرُ يُخْزِي وَيُخْجِلُ.

A word of falsehood he hates a righteous [person] and a wicked [person] he acts odiously and he may act shamefully.

٦ 6 اَلْبِرُّ يَحْفَظُ ٱلْكَامِلَ طَرِيقَهُ، وَٱلشَّرُّ يَقْلِبُ ٱلْخَاطِئَ.

Righteousness it preserves integrity of way and wickedness it subverts sin.

٧ 7 يُوجَدُ مَنْ يَتَغَانَى وَلَا شَيْءَ عِنْدَهُ، وَمَنْ يَتَفَاقَرُ وَعِنْدَهُ غِنًى جَزِيلٌ.

There [is one who] enriches himself and there not [is] anything [one who] impoverishes himself and wealth great.

٨ 8 فِدْيَةُ نَفْسِ رَجُلٍ غِنَاهُ، أَمَّا ٱلْفَقِيرُ فَلَا يَسْمَعُ ٱنْتِهَارًا.

[the] ransom of [the] life of A person [is] wealth his and a poor [person] not he hears a threat.

٩ 9 نُورُ ٱلصِّدِّيقِينَ يُفَرِّحُ، وَسِرَاجُ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ يَنْطَفِئُ.

[the] light of Righteous [people] it rejoices and [the] lamp of wicked [people] it is extinguished.

١٠ 10 اَلْخِصَامُ إِنَّمَا يَصِيرُ بِٱلْكِبْرِيَاءِ، وَمَعَ ٱلْمُتَشَاوِرِينَ حِكْمَةٌ.

Only with pride it gives contention and [is] with [those who] receive advice wisdom.

١١ 11 غِنَى ٱلْبُطْلِ يَقِلُّ، وَٱلْجَامِعُ بِيَدِهِ يَزْدَادُ.

Wealth from vanity it will become small and [one who] gathers on hand he will increase.

١٢ 12 ٱلرَّجَاءُ ٱلْمُمَاطَلُ يُمْرِضُ ٱلْقَلْبَ، وَٱلشَّهْوَةُ ٱلْمُتَمَّمَةُ شَجَرَةُ حَيَاةٍ.

Hope deferred [is] making sick [the] heart and [is] a tree of life a desire [which] comes.

١٣ 13 مَنِ ٱزْدَرَى بِٱلْكَلِمَةِ يُخْرِبُ نَفْسَهُ، وَمَنْ خَشِيَ ٱلْوَصِيَّةَ يُكَافَأُ.

[one who] despises A word he will be pledged to it and [one] fearing a commandment he he will be rewarded.

١٤ 14 شَرِيعَةُ ٱلْحَكِيمِ يَنْبُوعُ حَيَاةٍ لِلْحَيَدَانِ عَنْ أَشْرَاكِ ٱلْمَوْتِ.

[the] instruction of A wise [person] [is] a fountain of life to turn aside from [the] snares of death.

١٥ 15 اَلْفِطْنَةُ ٱلْجَيِّدَةُ تَمْنَحُ نِعْمَةً، أَمَّا طَرِيقُ ٱلْغَادِرِينَ فَأَوْعَرُ.

Insight good it gives favor and [the] way of treacherous [people] [is] enduring.

١٦ 16 كُلُّ ذَكِيٍّ يَعْمَلُ بِٱلْمَعْرِفَةِ، وَٱلْجَاهِلُ يَنْشُرُ حُمْقًا.

Every sensible [person] he acts with knowledge and a fool he spreads out foolishness.

١٧ 17 اَلرَّسُولُ ٱلشِّرِّيرُ يَقَعُ فِي ٱلشَّرِّ، وَٱلسَّفِيرُ ٱلْأَمِينُ شِفَاءٌ.

A messenger wicked he falls in trouble and an envoy of faithfulness [is] healing.

١٨ 18 فَقْرٌ وَهَوَانٌ لِمَنْ يَرْفُضُ ٱلتَّأْدِيبَ، وَمَنْ يُلَاحِظ ٱلتَّوْبِيخَ يُكْرَمْ.

Poverty and shame [one who] ignores discipline and [one who] keeps correction he is honored.

١٩ 19 اَلشَّهْوَةُ ٱلْحَاصِلَةُ تَلُذُّ ٱلنَّفْسَ، أَمَّا كَرَاهَةُ ٱلْجُهَّالِ فَهِيَ ٱلْحَيَدَانُ عَنِ ٱلشَّرِّ.

A desire done is pleasing to a person and [is] an abomination of fools to turn aside from evil.

٢٠ 20 اَلْمُسَايِرُ ٱلْحُكَمَاءَ يَصِيرُ حَكِيمًا، وَرَفِيقُ ٱلْجُهَّالِ يُضَرُّ.

([one who] walks *QK) With wise [people] (he will become wise *QK) and [one who] associates with fools he will be harmed.

٢١ 21 اَلشَّرُّ يَتْبَعُ ٱلْخَاطِئِينَ، وَٱلصِّدِّيقُونَ يُجَازَوْنَ خَيْرًا.

Sinners it pursues calamity and righteous [people] it rewards good.

٢٢ 22 اَلصَّالِحُ يُورِثُ بَنِي ٱلْبَنِينَ، وَثَرْوَةُ ٱلْخَاطِئِ تُذْخَرُ لِلصِّدِّيقِ.

A good [person] he leaves an inheritance to children of children and [is] stored up for the righteous [the] wealth of a sinner.

٢٣ 23 فِي حَرْثِ ٱلْفُقَرَاءِ طَعَامٌ كَثِيرٌ، وَيُوجَدُ هَالِكٌ مِنْ عَدَمِ ٱلْحَقِّ.

Abundance of food [the] unplowed ground of poor [people] and there [is what] is swept away in not justice.

٢٤ 24 مَنْ يَمْنَعُ عَصَاهُ يَمْقُتِ ٱبْنَهُ، وَمَنْ أَحَبَّهُ يَطْلُبُ لَهُ ٱلتَّأْدِيبَ.

[one who] restrains Rod his [is] hating son his and [one who] loves him he seeks early him discipline.

٢٥ 25 اَلصِّدِّيقُ يَأْكُلُ لِشَبَعِ نَفْسِهِ، أَمَّا بَطْنُ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ فَيَحْتَاجُ.

A righteous [person] [is] eating to [the] satiety of appetite his and [the] belly of wicked [people] it is lacking.
