أَمْثَالٌ 10

١ 1 أَمْثَالُ سُلَيْمَانَ: اَلِٱبْنُ ٱلْحَكِيمُ يَسُرُّ أَبَاهُ، وَٱلِٱبْنُ ٱلْجَاهِلُ حُزْنُ أُمِّهِ.

The Proverbs of Solomon: A wise son, maketh a glad father, but, a foolish son, is the grief of his mother.

٢ 2 كُنُوزُ ٱلشَّرِّ لَا تَنْفَعُ، أَمَّا ٱلْبِرُّ فَيُنَجِّي مِنَ ٱلْمَوْتِ.

The treasures of lawlessness, do not profit, but, righteousness, delivereth from death.

٣ 3 اَلرَّبُّ لَا يُجِيعُ نَفْسَ ٱلصِّدِّيقِ، وَلَكِنَّهُ يَدْفَعُ هَوَى ٱلْأَشْرَارِ.

Yahweh, suffereth not to famish, the soul of the righteous, but, the desire of the lawless, he thrusteth away.

٤ 4 اَلْعَامِلُ بِيَدٍ رَخْوَةٍ يَفْتَقِرُ، أَمَّا يَدُ ٱلْمُجْتَهِدِينَ فَتُغْنِي.

He becometh poor, who dealeth with a slack hand, but, the hand of the diligent, maketh rich.

٥ 5 مَنْ يَجْمَعُ فِي ٱلصَّيْفِ فَهُوَ ٱبْنٌ عَاقِلٌ، وَمَنْ يَنَامُ فِي ٱلْحَصَادِ فَهُوَ ٱبْنٌ مُخْزٍ.

He that gathereth in summer, is a prudent son, he that sleepeth long in harvest, is a son causing shame.

٦ 6 بَرَكَاتٌ عَلَى رَأْسِ ٱلصِّدِّيقِ، أَمَّا فَمُ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ فَيَغْشَاهُ ظُلْمٌ.

Blessings, are for the head of the righteous man, but, the mouth of the lawless, covereth up wrong.

٧ 7 ذِكْرُ ٱلصِّدِّيقِ لِلْبَرَكَةِ، وَٱسْمُ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ يَنْخَرُ.

The memory of the righteous, yieldeth blessing, but, the name of the lawless, dieth out.

٨ 8 حَكِيمُ ٱلْقَلْبِ يَقْبَلُ ٱلْوَصَايَا، وَغَبِيُّ ٱلشَّفَتَيْنِ يُصْرَعُ.

The wise in heart, will accept commandments, but, he that is foolish with his lips, shall be thrust away.

٩ 9 مَنْ يَسْلُكُ بِٱلِٱسْتِقَامَةِ يَسْلُكُ بِٱلْأَمَانِ، وَمَنْ يُعَوِّجُ طُرُقَهُ يُعَرَّفُ.

He that walketh uprightly, may walk securely, but, he that maketh crooked his ways, shall be found out.

١٠ 10 مَنْ يَغْمِزُ بِٱلْعَيْنِ يُسَبِّبُ حُزْنًا، وَٱلْغَبِيُّ ٱلشَّفَتَيْنِ يُصْرَعُ.

He that winketh with the eye, causeth sorrow, and, he that is foolish with his lips, shall be thrust aside.

١١ 11 فَمُ ٱلصِّدِّيقِ يَنْبُوعُ حَيَاةٍ، وَفَمُ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ يَغْشَاهُ ظُلْمٌ.

A well-spring of life, is the mouth of the righteous, but, the mouth of the lawless, covereth wrong.

١٢ 12 اَلْبُغْضَةُ تُهَيِّجُ خُصُومَاتٍ، وَٱلْمَحَبَّةُ تَسْتُرُ كُلَّ ٱلذُّنُوبِ.

Hatred, stirreth up strifes, but, over all transgressions, love throweth a covering.

١٣ 13 فِي شَفَتَيِ ٱلْعَاقِلِ تُوجَدُ حِكْمَةٌ، وَٱلْعَصَا لِظَهْرِ ٱلنَّاقِصِ ٱلْفَهْمِ.

In the lips of the intelligent, is found wisdom, but, a rod, is for the back of him that lacketh sense.

١٤ 14 اَلْحُكَمَاءُ يَذْخَرُونَ مَعْرِفَةً، أَمَّا فَمُ ٱلْغَبِيِّ فَهَلَاكٌ قَرِيبٌ.

Wise men, treasure up knowledge, but, the mouth of the foolish, is a terror near at hand.

١٥ 15 ثَرْوَةُ ٱلْغَنِيِّ مَدِينَتُهُ ٱلْحَصِينَةُ. هَلَاكُ ٱلْمَسَاكِينِ فَقْرُهُمْ.

The substance of the rich, is his strong city, the terror of the poor, is their poverty.

١٦ 16 عَمَلُ ٱلصِّدِّيقِ لِلْحَيَاةِ. رِبْحُ ٱلشِّرِّيرِ لِلْخَطِيَّةِ.

The labour of the righteous, [leadeth] to life, the increase of the lawless, to sin.

١٧ 17 حَافِظُ ٱلتَّعْلِيمِ هُوَ فِي طَرِيقِ ٱلْحَيَاةِ، وَرَافِضُ ٱلتَّأْدِيبِ ضَالٌّ.

On the way to life, is he that heedeth correction, but, he that hateth reproof, is going astray.

١٨ 18 مَنْ يُخْفِي ٱلْبُغْضَةَ فَشَفَتَاهُ كَاذِبَتَانِ، وَمُشِيعُ ٱلْمَذَمَّةِ هُوَ جَاهِلٌ.

He that concealeth hatred, hath false lips, and he that sendeth forth slander, the same, is a dullard.

١٩ 19 كَثْرَةُ ٱلْكَلَامِ لَا تَخْلُو مِنْ مَعْصِيَةٍ، أَمَّا ٱلضَّابِطُ شَفَتَيْهِ فَعَاقِلٌ.

In the multitude of words, there wanteth not transgression, but, he that restraineth his lips, sheweth prudence.

٢٠ 20 لِسَانُ ٱلصِّدِّيقِ فِضَّةٌ مُخْتَارَةٌ. قَلْبُ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ كَشَيْءٍ زَهِيدٍ.

Choice silver, is the tongue of the righteous, but, the sense of the lawless, is very small.

٢١ 21 شَفَتَا ٱلصِّدِّيقِ تَهْدِيَانِ كَثِيرِينَ، أَمَّا ٱلْأَغْبِيَاءُ فَيَمُوتُونَ مِنْ نَقْصِ ٱلْفَهْمِ.

The lips of the righteous, feed multitudes, but, the foolish, for lack of sense, shall die.

٢٢ 22 بَرَكَةُ ٱلرَّبِّ هِيَ تُغْنِي، وَلَا يَزِيدُ مَعَهَا تَعَبًا.

The blessing of Yahweh, itself maketh rich, and he addeth no grievance therewith.

٢٣ 23 فِعْلُ ٱلرَّذِيلَةِ عِنْدَ ٱلْجَاهِلِ كَٱلضِّحْكِ، أَمَّا ٱلْحِكْمَةُ فَلِذِي فَهْمٍ.

It is, mere sport to a stupid man, to commit lewdness, but, wisdom, pertaineth to a man of understanding.

٢٤ 24 خَوْفُ ٱلشِّرِّيرِ هُوَ يَأْتِيهِ، وَشَهْوَةُ ٱلصِّدِّيقِينَ تُمْنَحُ.

The dread of the lawless one, the same, shall overtake him, but, the desire of the righteous, shall he granted.

٢٥ 25 كَعُبُورِ ٱلزَّوْبَعَةِ فَلَا يَكُونُ ٱلشِّرِّيرُ، أَمَّا ٱلصِّدِّيقُ فَأَسَاسٌ مُؤَبَّدٌ.

Like the passing away of a tempest, so the lawless one is not, but, the righteous, [hath] an age-abiding foundation.

٢٦ 26 كَٱلْخَلِّ لِلْأَسْنَانِ، وَكَالدُّخَانِ لِلْعَيْنَيْنِ، كَذَلِكَ ٱلْكَسْلَانُ لِلَّذِينَ أَرْسَلُوهُ.

As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so, is the sluggard, to them who send him.

٢٧ 27 مَخَافَةُ ٱلرَّبِّ تَزِيدُ ٱلْأَيَّامَ، أَمَّا سِنُو ٱلْأَشْرَارِ فَتُقْصَرُ.

The reverence of Yahweh, addeth days, but, the years of the lawless, shall be shortened.

٢٨ 28 مُنْتَظَرُ ٱلصِّدِّيقِينَ مُفَرِّحٌ، أَمَّا رَجَاءُ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ فَيَبِيدُ.

The hope of the righteous, shall be gladness, but, the expectation of the lawless, shall vanish.

٢٩ 29 حِصْنٌ لِلِٱسْتِقَامَةِ طَرِيقُ ٱلرَّبِّ، وَٱلْهَلَاكُ لِفَاعِلِي ٱلْإِثْمِ.

A refuge for the blameless, is the path of Yahweh, but, destruction, [awaiteth] the workers of iniquity.

٣٠ 30 اَلصِّدِّيقُ لَنْ يُزَحْزَحَ أَبَدًا، وَٱلْأَشْرَارُ لَنْ يَسْكُنُوا ٱلْأَرْضَ.

The righteous, to times age-abiding, shall remain unshaken, but, the lawless, shall not inhabit the earth.

٣١ 31 فَمُ ٱلصِّدِّيقِ يُنْبِتُ ٱلْحِكْمَةَ، أَمَّا لِسَانُ ٱلْأَكَاذِيبِ فَيُقْطَعُ.

The mouth of the righteous, beareth the fruit of wisdom, but, a perverse tongue, shall be cut off.

٣٢ 32 شَفَتَا ٱلصِّدِّيقِ تَعْرِفَانِ ٱلْمَرْضِيَّ، وَفَمُ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ أَكَاذِيبُ.

The lips of the righteous, know what is pleasing, but, the mouth of the lawless, [speaketh] perversities.
