يَشُوع 14

١ 1 فَهَذِهِ هِيَ ٱلَّتِي ٱمْتَلَكَهَا بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ فِي أَرْضِ كَنْعَانَ، ٱلَّتِي مَلَّكَهُمْ إِيَّاهَا أَلِعَازَارُ ٱلْكَاهِنُ وَيَشُوعُ بْنُ نُونَ وَرُؤَسَاءُ آبَاءِ أَسْبَاطِ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ.

These are the inheritances which the children of Israel took in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of ancestral houses of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed to them,

٢ 2 نَصِيبُهُمْ بِٱلْقُرْعَةِ كَمَا أَمَرَ ٱلرَّبُّ عَنْ يَدِ مُوسَى لِلتِّسْعَةِ ٱلْأَسْبَاطِ وَنِصْفِ ٱلسِّبْطِ.

by the lot of their inheritance, as YHWH commanded by the hand of Moses, to give to the nine tribes, and for the half-tribe.

٣ 3 لِأَنَّ مُوسَى أَعْطَى نَصِيبَ ٱلسِّبْطَيْنِ وَنِصْفِ ٱلسِّبْطِ فِي عَبْرِ ٱلْأُرْدُنِّ. وَأَمَّا ٱللَّاوِيُّونَ فَلَمْ يُعْطِهِمْ نَصِيبًا فِي وَسَطِهِمْ.

For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half-tribe beyond the Jordan; but to the Levites he gave no inheritance among them.

٤ 4 لِأَنَّ بَنِي يُوسُفَ كَانُوا سِبْطَيْنِ: مَنَسَّى وَأَفْرَايِمَ. وَلَمْ يُعْطُوا ٱللَّاوِيِّينَ قِسْمًا فِي ٱلْأَرْضِ إِلَّا مُدُنًا لِلسَّكَنِ، وَمَسَارِحَهَا لِمَوَاشِيهِمْ وَمُقْتَنَاهُمْ.

For the descendants of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: and they gave no portion to the Levites in the land, except cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their livestock and for their property.

٥ 5 كَمَا أَمَرَ ٱلرَّبُّ مُوسَى هَكَذَا فَعَلَ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ وَقَسَمُوا ٱلْأَرْضَ.

The children of Israel did as YHWH commanded Moses, and they divided the land.

٦ 6 فَتَقَدَّمَ بَنُو يَهُوذَا إِلَى يَشُوعَ فِي ٱلْجِلْجَالِ. وَقَالَ لَهُ كَالَبُ بْنُ يَفُنَّةَ ٱلْقَنِزِّيُّ: «أَنْتَ تَعْلَمُ ٱلْكَلَامَ ٱلَّذِي كَلَّمَ بِهِ ٱلرَّبُّ مُوسَى رَجُلَ ٱللهِ مِنْ جِهَتِي وَمِنْ جِهَتِكَ فِي قَادَشِ بَرْنِيعَ.

Then the descendants of Judah drew near to Joshua in Gilgal. Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, "You know the thing that YHWH spoke to Moses the man of God concerning me and concerning you in Kadesh Barnea.

٧ 7 كُنْتُ ٱبْنَ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً حِينَ أَرْسَلَنِي مُوسَى عَبْدُ ٱلرَّبِّ مِنْ قَادَشِ بَرْنِيعَ لِأَتَجَسَّسَ ٱلْأَرْضَ. فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَيْهِ بِكَلَامٍ عَمَّا فِي قَلْبِي.

I was forty years old when Moses the servant of YHWH sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land. I brought him word again as it was in my heart.

٨ 8 وَأَمَّا إِخْوَتِيَ ٱلَّذِينَ صَعِدُوا مَعِي فَأَذَابُوا قَلْبَ ٱلشَّعْبِ. وَأَمَّا أَنَا فَٱتَّبَعْتُ تَمَامًا ٱلرَّبَّ إِلَهِي.

Nevertheless, my brothers who went up with me made the heart of the people melt; but I wholly followed YHWH my God.

٩ 9 فَحَلَفَ مُوسَى فِي ذَلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمِ قَائِلًا: إِنَّ ٱلْأَرْضَ ٱلَّتِي وَطِئَتْهَا رِجْلُكَ لَكَ تَكُونُ نَصِيبًا وَلِأَوْلَادِكَ إِلَى ٱلْأَبَدِ، لِأَنَّكَ ٱتَّبَعْتَ ٱلرَّبَّ إِلَهِي تَمَامًا.

Moses swore on that day, saying, 'Surely the land where you walked shall be an inheritance to you and to your children forever, because you have wholly followed YHWH my God.'

١٠ 10 وَٱلْآنَ فَهَا قَدِ ٱسْتَحْيَانِيَ ٱلرَّبُّ كَمَا تَكَلَّمَ هَذِهِ ٱلْخَمْسَ وَٱلْأَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً، مِنْ حِينَ كَلَّمَ ٱلرَّبُّ مُوسَى بِهَذَا ٱلْكَلَامِ حِينَ سَارَ إِسْرَائِيلُ فِي ٱلْقَفْرِ. وَٱلْآنَ فَهَا أَنَا ٱلْيَوْمَ ٱبْنُ خَمْسٍ وَثَمَانِينَ سَنَةً.

Now, look, YHWH has kept me alive, as he spoke, these forty-five years, from the time that YHWH spoke this word to Moses, while Israel walked in the wilderness. Now, look, I am eighty-five years old, today.

١١ 11 فَلَمْ أَزَلِ ٱلْيَوْمَ مُتَشَدِّدًا كَمَا فِي يَوْمَ أَرْسَلَنِي مُوسَى. كَمَا كَانَتْ قُوَّتِي حِينَئِذٍ، هَكَذَا قُوَّتِي ٱلْآنَ لِلْحَرْبِ وَلِلْخُرُوجِ وَلِلدُّخُولِ.

I am still as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now for war, to go out and to come in.

١٢ 12 فَٱلْآنَ أَعْطِنِي هَذَا ٱلْجَبَلَ ٱلَّذِي تَكَلَّمَ عَنْهُ ٱلرَّبُّ فِي ذَلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمِ. لِأَنَّكَ أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ فِي ذَلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمِ أَنَّ ٱلْعَنَاقِيِّينَ هُنَاكَ، وَٱلْمُدُنُ عَظِيمَةٌ مُحَصَّنَةٌ. لَعَلَّ ٱلرَّبَّ مَعِي فَأَطْرُدَهُمْ كَمَا تَكَلَّمَ ٱلرَّبُّ».

Now therefore give me this hill country, of which YHWH spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and great and fortified cities. It may be that YHWH will be with me, and I shall drive them out, as YHWH spoke."

١٣ 13 فَبَارَكَهُ يَشُوعُ، وَأَعْطَى حَبْرُونَ لِكَالَبَ بْنِ يَفُنَّةَ مُلْكًا.

Joshua blessed him; and he gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh for an inheritance.

١٤ 14 لِذَلِكَ صَارَتْ حَبْرُونُ لِكَالَبَ بْنِ يَفُنَّةَ ٱلْقَنِزِّيِّ مُلْكًا إِلَى هَذَا ٱلْيَوْمِ، لِأَنَّهُ ٱتَّبَعَ تَمَامًا ٱلرَّبَّ إِلَهَ إِسْرَائِيلَ.

Therefore Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day; because he wholly followed YHWH, the God of Israel.

١٥ 15 وَٱسْمُ حَبْرُونَ قَبْلًا قَرْيَةُ أَرْبَعَ، ٱلرَّجُلِ ٱلْأَعْظَمِ فِي ٱلْعَنَاقِيِّينَ. وَٱسْتَرَاحَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ مِنَ ٱلْحَرْبِ.

Now the name of Hebron before was Kiriath Arba, after the greatest man among the Anakim. The land had rest from war.
