إِرْمِيَا 51

١ 1 «هَكَذَا قَالَ ٱلرَّبُّ: هَأَنَذَا أُوقِظُ عَلَى بَابِلَ وَعَلَى ٱلسَّاكِنِينَ فِي وَسْطِ ٱلْقَائِمِينَ عَلَيَّ رِيحًا مُهْلِكَةً.

THE WORD THAT CAME TO JEREMIAS for all the Jews dwelling in the land of Egypt, and for those settled in Magdolo and in Taphnas, and in the land of Pathura, saying,

٢ 2 وَأُرْسِلُ إِلَى بَابِلَ مُذَرِّينَ فَيُذَرُّونَهَا وَيُفَرِّغُونَ أَرْضَهَا، لِأَنَّهُمْ يَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهَا مِنْ كُلِّ جِهَةٍ فِي يَوْمِ ٱلشَّرِّ.

Thus has the Lord God of Israel said; Ye have seen all the evils which I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon the cities of Juda; and, behold, they are desolate without inhabitants,

٣ 3 عَلَى ٱلنَّازِعِ فِي قَوْسِهِ، فَلْيَنْزِعِ ٱلنَّازِعُ، وَعَلَى ٱلْمُفْتَخِرِ بِدِرْعِهِ، فَلَا تُشْفِقُوا عَلَى مُنْتَخَبِيهَا، بَلْ حَرِّمُوا كُلَّ جُنْدِهَا.

because of their wickedness, which they have wrought to provoke me, [by] going to burn incense to other gods, whom ye knew not.

٤ 4 فَتَسْقُطَ ٱلْقَتْلَى فِي أَرْضِ ٱلْكَلْدَانِيِّينَ، وَٱلْمَطْعُونُونَ فِي شَوَارِعِهَا.

yet I sent to you my servants the prophets early in the morning, and I sent, saying, Do not ye this abominable thing which I hate.

٥ 5 لِأَنَّ إِسْرَائِيلَ وَيَهُوذَا لَيْسَا بِمَقْطُوعَيْنِ عَنْ إِلَهِهِمَا، عَنْ رَبِّ ٱلْجُنُودِ، وَإِنْ تَكُنْ أَرْضُهُمَا مَلْآنَةً إِثْمًا عَلَى قُدُّوسِ إِسْرَائِيلَ.

But they hearkened not to me, and inclined not their ear to turn from their wickedness, so as not to burn incense to strange gods.

٦ 6 ٱهْرُبُوا مِنْ وَسْطِ بَابِلَ، وَٱنْجُوا كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ بِنَفْسِهِ. لَا تَهْلِكُوا بِذَنْبِهَا، لِأَنَّ هَذَا زَمَانُ ٱنْتِقَامِ ٱلرَّبِّ، هُوَ يُؤَدِّي لَهَا جَزَاءَهَا.

So mine anger and my wrath dropped [upon them], and was kindled in the gates of Juda, and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they became a desolation and a waste, as at this day.

٧ 7 بَابِلُ كَأْسُ ذَهَبٍ بِيَدِ ٱلرَّبِّ تُسْكِرُ كُلَّ ٱلْأَرْضِ. مِنْ خَمْرِهَا شَرِبَتِ ٱلشُّعُوبُ. مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ جُنَّتِ ٱلشُّعُوبُ.

And now thus has the Lord Almighty said, Wherefore do ye commit [these] great evils against your souls? to cut off man and woman of you, infant and suckling from the midst of Juda, to the end that not one of you should be left;

٨ 8 سَقَطَتْ بَابِلُ بَغْتَةً وَتَحَطَّمَتْ. وَلْوِلُوا عَلَيْهَا. خُذُوا بَلَسَانًا لِجُرْحِهَا لَعَلَّهَا تُشْفَى!

by provoking me with the works of your hands, to burn incense to other gods in the land of Egypt, into which ye entered to dwell there, that ye might be cut off, and that ye might become a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?

٩ 9 دَاوَيْنَا بَابِلَ فَلَمْ تُشْفَ. دَعُوهَا، وَلْنَذْهَبْ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ إِلَى أَرْضِهِ، لِأَنَّ قَضَاءَهَا وَصَلَ إِلَى ٱلسَّمَاءِ، وَٱرْتَفَعَ إِلَى ٱلسَّحَابِ.

Have ye forgotten the sins of your fathers, and the sins of the kings of Juda, and the sins of your princes, and the sins of your wives, which they wrought in the land of Juda, and in the streets of Jerusalem?

١٠ 10 قَدْ أَخْرَجَ ٱلرَّبُّ بِرَّنَا. هَلُمَّ فَنَقُصُّ فِي صِهْيَوْنَ عَمَلَ ٱلرَّبِّ إِلَهِنَا.

And have not ceased even to this day, and they have not kept to my ordinances, which I set before their fathers.

١١ 11 سُنُّوا ٱلسِّهَامَ. أَعِدُّوا ٱلْأَتْرَاسَ. قَدْ أَيْقَظَ ٱلرَّبُّ رُوحَ مُلُوكِ مَادِي، لِأَنَّ قَصْدَهُ عَلَى بَابِلَ أَنْ يُهْلِكَهَا. لِأَنَّهُ نَقْمَةُ ٱلرَّبِّ، نَقْمَةُ هَيْكَلِهِ.

Therefore thus saith the Lord; Behold I do set my face against [you]

١٢ 12 عَلَى أَسْوَارِ بَابِلَ ٱرْفَعُوا ٱلرَّايَةَ. شَدِّدُوا ٱلْحِرَاسَةَ. أَقِيمُوا ٱلْحُرَّاسَ. أَعِدُّوا ٱلْكَمِينَ، لِأَنَّ ٱلرَّبَّ قَدْ قَصَدَ وَأَيْضًا فَعَلَ مَا تَكَلَّمَ بِهِ عَلَى سُكَّانِ بَابِلَ.

to destroy all the remnant that are in Egypt; and they shall fall by the sword, and by famine, and shall be consumed small and great: and they shall be for reproach, and for destruction, and for a curse.

١٣ 13 أَيَّتُهَا ٱلسَّاكِنَةُ عَلَى مِيَاهٍ كَثِيرَةٍ، ٱلْوَافِرَةُ ٱلْخَزَائِنِ، قَدْ أَتَتْ آخِرَتُكِ، كَيْلُ ٱغْتِصَابِكِ.

And I will visit them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have visited Jerusalem, with sword and with famine:

١٤ 14 قَدْ حَلَفَ رَبُّ ٱلْجُنُودِ بِنَفْسِهِ: إِنِّي لَأَمْلَأَنَّكِ أُنَاسًا كَٱلْغَوْغَاءِ، فَيَرْفَعُونَ عَلَيْكِ جَلَبَةً.

and there shall not one be preserved of the remnant of Juda that sojourn in the land of Egypt, to return to the land of Juda, to which they hope in their hearts to return: they shall not return, but only they that escape.

١٥ 15 «صَانِعُ ٱلْأَرْضِ بِقُوَّتِهِ، وَمُؤَسِّسُ ٱلْمَسْكُونَةِ بِحِكْمَتِهِ، وبِفَهْمِهِ مَدَّ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ.

Then all the men that knew that their wives burned incense, and all the women, a great multitude, and all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathura, answered Jeremias, saying,

١٦ 16 إِذَا أَعْطَى قَوْلًا تَكُونُ كَثْرَةُ مِيَاهٍ فِي ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ، وَيُصْعِدُ ٱلسَّحَابَ مِنْ أَقَاصِي ٱلْأَرْضِ. صَنَعَ بُرُوقًا لِلْمَطَرِ، وَأَخْرَجَ ٱلرِّيحَ مِنْ خَزَائِنِهِ.

[As for] the word which thou hast spoken to us in the name of the Lord, we will not hearken to thee.

١٧ 17 بَلُدَ كُلُّ إِنْسَانٍ بِمَعْرِفَتِهِ. خَزِيَ كُلُّ صَائِغٍ مِنَ ٱلتِّمْثَالِ لِأَنَّ مَسْبُوكَهُ كَذِبٌ وَلَا رُوحٌ فِيهِ.

For we will surely perform every word that shall proceed out of our mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour drink-offerings to her, as we and our fathers have done, and our kings and princes, in the cities of Juda, and in the streets of Jerusalem: and [so] we were filled with bread, and were well, and saw no evils.

١٨ 18 هِيَ بَاطِلَةٌ، صَنْعَةُ ٱلْأَضَالِيلِ. فِي وَقْتِ عِقَابِهَا تَبِيدُ.

But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, we have all been brought low, and have been consumed by sword and by famine.

١٩ 19 لَيْسَ كَهَذِهِ نَصِيبُ يَعْقُوبَ، لِأَنَّهُ مُصَوِّرُ ٱلْجَمِيعِ، وَقَضِيبُ مِيرَاثِهِ، رَبُّ ٱلْجُنُودِ ٱسْمُهُ.

And whereas we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured drink-offerings to her, did we make cakes to her, and pour drink-offerings to her, without our husbands?

٢٠ 20 أَنْتَ لِي فَأْسٌ وَأَدَوَاتُ حَرْبٍ، فَأَسْحَقُ بِكَ ٱلْأُمَمَ، وَأُهْلِكُ بِكَ ٱلْمَمَالِكَ،

Then Jeremias answered all the people, the mighty men, and the women, and all the people that returned him [these] words for answer, saying,

٢١ 21 وَأُكَسِّرُ بِكَ ٱلْفَرَسَ وَرَاكِبَهُ، وَأَسْحَقُ بِكَ ٱلْمَرْكَبَةَ وَرَاكِبَهَا،

Did not the Lord remember the incense which ye burned in the cities of Juda, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, and your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land? and came it not into his heart?

٢٢ 22 وَأَسْحَقُ بِكَ ٱلرَّجُلَ وَٱلْمَرْأَةَ، وَأَسْحَقُ بِكَ ٱلشَّيْخَ وَٱلْفَتَى، وَأَسْحَقُ بِكَ ٱلْغُلَامَ وَٱلْعَذْرَاءَ،

And the Lord could no longer bear [you], because of the wickedness of your doings, and because of your abominations which ye wrought; and so your land became a desolation and a waste, and a curse, as at this day;

٢٣ 23 وَأَسْحَقُ بِكَ ٱلرَّاعِيَ وَقَطِيعَهُ، وَأَسْحَقُ بِكَ ٱلْفَلَّاحَ وَفَدَّانَهُ، وَأَسْحَقُ بِكَ ٱلْوُلَاةَ وَٱلْحُكَّامَ.

because of your burning incense, and [because] of the things wherein ye sinned against the Lord: and ye have not hearkened to the voice of the Lord, and have not walked in his ordinances, and in his law, and in his testimonies; and so these evils have come upon you.

٢٤ 24 وَأُكَافِئُ بَابِلَ وَكُلَّ سُكَّانِ أَرْضِ ٱلْكَلْدَانِيِّينَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَرِّهِمِ ٱلَّذِي فَعَلُوهُ فِي صِهْيَوْنَ، أَمَامَ عُيُونِكُمْ، يَقُولُ ٱلرَّبُّ.

And Jeremias said to the people, and to the women, Hear ye the word of the Lord.

٢٥ 25 هَأَنَذَا عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا ٱلْجَبَلُ ٱلْمُهْلِكُ، يَقُولُ ٱلرَّبُّ، ٱلْمُهْلِكُ كُلَّ ٱلْأَرْضِ، فَأَمُدُّ يَدِي عَلَيْكَ وَأُدَحْرِجُكَ عَنِ ٱلصُّخُورِ، وَأَجْعَلُكَ جَبَلًا مُحْرَقًا،

Thus has the Lord God of Israel said; Ye women have spoken with your mouth, and ye fulfilled [it] with your hands, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour drink-offerings to her: full well did ye keep to your vows, and ye have indeed performed [them].

٢٦ 26 فَلَا يَأْخُذُونَ مِنْكَ حَجَرًا لِزَاوِيَةٍ، وَلَا حَجَرًا لِأُسُسٍ، بَلْ تَكُونُ خَرَابًا إِلَى ٱلْأَبَدِ، يَقُولُ ٱلرَّبُّ.

Therefore hear ye the word of the Lord, all Jews dwelling in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the Lord, my name shall no longer be in the mouth of every Jew to say, The Lord lives, in all the land of Egypt.

٢٧ 27 «اِرْفَعُوا ٱلرَّايَةَ فِي ٱلْأَرْضِ. ٱضْرِبُوا بِٱلْبُوقِ فِي ٱلشُّعُوبِ. قَدِّسُوا عَلَيْهَا ٱلْأُمَمَ. نَادُوا عَلَيْهَا مَمَالِكَ أَرَارَاطَ وَمِنِّي وَأَشْكَنَازَ. أَقِيمُوا عَلَيْهَا قَائِدًا. أَصْعِدُوا ٱلْخَيْلَ كَغَوْغَاءَ مُقْشَعِرَّةٍ.

For I have watched over them, to hurt them, and not to do them good: and all the Jews dwelling in the land of Egypt shall perish by sword and by famine, until they are utterly consumed.

٢٨ 28 قَدِّسُوا عَلَيْهَا ٱلشُّعُوبَ، مُلُوكَ مَادِي، وُلَاتَهَا وَكُلَّ حُكَّامِهَا وَكُلَّ أَرْضِ سُلْطَانِهَا،

And they that escape the sword shall return to the land of Juda few in number, and the remnant of Juda, who have continued in the land [of] Egypt to dwell there, shall know whose word shall stand.

٢٩ 29 فَتَرْتَجِفَ ٱلْأَرْضُ وَتَتَوَجَّعَ، لِأَنَّ أَفْكَارَ ٱلرَّبِّ تَقُومُ عَلَى بَابِلَ، لِيَجْعَلَ أَرْضَ بَابِلَ خَرَابًا بِلَا سَاكِنٍ.

And this [shall be] a sign to you, that I will visit you for evil.

٣٠ 30 كَفَّ جَبَابِرَةُ بَابِلَ عَنِ ٱلْحَرْبِ، وَجَلَسُوا فِي ٱلْحُصُونِ. نَضَبَتْ شَجَاعَتُهُمْ. صَارُوا نِسَاءً. حَرَقُوا مَسَاكِنَهَا. تَحَطَّمَتْ عَوَارِضُهَا.

Thus said the Lord; Behold, I [will] give Uaphres king of Egypt into the hands of his enemy, and into the hands of one that seeks his life; as I gave Sedekias king of Juda into the hands of Nabuchodonosor king of Babylon, his enemy, and who sought his life.

٣١ 31 يَرْكُضُ عَدَّاءٌ لِلِقَاءِ عَدَّاءٍ، وَمُخْبِرٌ لِلِقَاءِ مُخْبِرٍ، لِيُخْبِرَ مَلِكَ بَابِلَ بِأَنَّ مَدِينَتَهُ قَدْ أُخِذَتْ عَنْ أقْصَى،

THE WORD WHICH JEREMIAS THE PROPHET spoke to Baruch son of Nerias, when he wrote these words in the book from the mouth of Jeremias, in the fourth year of Joakim the son of Josias king of Juda.

٣٢ 32 وَأَنَّ ٱلْمَعَابِرَ قَدْ أُمْسِكَتْ، وَٱلْقَصَبَ أَحْرَقُوهُ بِٱلنَّارِ، وَرِجَالُ ٱلْحَرْبِ ٱضْطَرَبَتْ.

Thus has the Lord said to thee, O Baruch.

٣٣ 33 لِأَنَّهُ هَكَذَا قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْجُنُودِ إِلَهُ إِسْرَائِيلَ: إِنَّ بِنْتَ بَابِلَ كَبَيْدَرٍ وَقْتَ دَوْسِهِ. بَعْدَ قَلِيلٍ يَأْتِي عَلَيْهَا وَقْتُ ٱلْحَصَادِ».

Whereas thou hast said, Alas! alas! for the Lord has laid a grievous trouble upon me; I lay down in groaning, I found no rest;

٣٤ 34 «أَكَلَنِي أَفْنَانِي نَبُوخَذْرَاصَّرُ مَلِكُ بَابِلَ. جَعَلَنِي إِنَاءً فَارِغًا. ٱبْتَلَعَنِي كَتِنِّينٍ، وَمَلَأَ جَوْفَهُ مِنْ نِعَمِي. طَوَّحَنِي.

say thou to him, Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I pull down those whom I have built up, and I pluck up those whom I have planted.

٣٥ 35 ظُلْمِي وَلَحْمِي عَلَى بَابِلَ» تَقُولُ سَاكِنَةُ صِهْيَوْنَ. «وَدَمِي عَلَى سُكَّانِ أَرْضِ ٱلْكَلْدَانِيِّينَ» تَقُولُ أُورُشَلِيمُ.

And wilt thou seek great things for thyself? seek [them] not: for, behold, I bring evil upon all flesh, saith the Lord: but I will give [to thee] thy life for a spoil in every place whither thou shalt go.

٣٦ 36 لِذَلِكَ هَكَذَا قَالَ ٱلرَّبُّ: «هَأَنَذَا أُخَاصِمُ خُصُومَتَكِ، وَأَنْتَقِمُ نَقْمَتَكِ، وَأُنَشِّفُ بَحْرَهَا، وَأُجَفِّفُ يَنْبُوعَهَا.

٣٧ 37 وَتَكُونُ بَابِلُ كُوَمًا، وَمَأْوَى بَنَاتِ آوَى، وَدَهَشًا وَصَفِيرًا بِلَا سَاكِنٍ.

٣٨ 38 يُزَمْجِرُونَ مَعًا كَأَشْبَالٍ. يَزْأَرُونَ كَجِرَاءِ أُسُودٍ.

٣٩ 39 عِنْدَ حَرَارَتِهِمْ أُعِدُّ لَهُمْ شَرَابًا وَأُسْكِرُهُمْ، لِكَيْ يَفْرَحُوا وَيَنَامُوا نَوْمًا أَبَدِيًّا، وَلَا يَسْتَيْقِظُوا، يَقُولُ ٱلرَّبُّ.

٤٠ 40 أُنَزِّلُهُمْ كَخِرَافٍ لِلذَّبْحِ وَكَكِبَاشٍ مَعَ أَعْتِدَةٍ.

٤١ 41 «كَيْفَ أُخِذَتْ شِيشَكُ، وَأُمْسِكَتْ فَخْرُ كُلِّ ٱلْأَرْضِ؟ كَيْفَ صَارَتْ بَابِلُ دَهَشًا فِي ٱلشُّعُوبِ؟

٤٢ 42 طَلَعَ ٱلْبَحْرُ عَلَى بَابِلَ، فَتَغَطَّتْ بِكَثْرَةِ أَمْوَاجِهِ.

٤٣ 43 صَارَتْ مُدُنُهَا خَرَابًا، أَرْضًا نَاشِفَةً وَقَفْرًا، أَرْضًا لَا يَسْكُنُ فِيهَا إِنْسَانٌ وَلَا يَعْبُرُ فِيهَا ٱبْنُ آدَمَ.

٤٤ 44 وَأُعَاقِبُ بِيلَ فِي بَابِلَ، وَأُخْرِجُ مِنْ فَمِهِ مَا ٱبْتَلَعَهُ، فَلَا تَجْرِي إِلَيْهِ ٱلشُّعُوبُ بَعْدُ، وَيَسْقُطُ سُورُ بَابِلَ أَيْضًا.

٤٥ 45 اُخْرُجُوا مِنْ وَسَطِهَا يَا شَعْبِي، وَلْيُنَجِّ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ نَفْسَهُ مِنْ حُمُوِّ غَضَبِ ٱلرَّبِّ.

٤٦ 46 وَلَا يَضْعُفْ قَلْبُكُمْ فَتَخَافُوا مِنَ ٱلْخَبَرِ ٱلَّذِي سُمِعَ فِي ٱلْأَرْضِ، فَإِنَّهُ يَأْتِي خَبَرٌ فِي هَذِهِ ٱلسَّنَةِ، ثُمَّ بَعْدَهُ فِي ٱلسَّنَةِ ٱلْأُخْرَى، خَبَرٌ وَظُلْمٌ فِي ٱلْأَرْضِ، مُتَسَلِّطٌ عَلَى مُتَسَلِّطٍ.

٤٧ 47 لِذَلِكَ هَا أَيَّامٌ تَأْتِي وَأُعَاقِبُ مَنْحُوتَاتِ بَابِلَ، فَتَخْزَى كُلُّ أَرْضِهَا وَتَسْقُطُ كُلُّ قَتْلَاهَا فِي وَسْطِهَا.

٤٨ 48 فَتَهْتِفُ عَلَى بَابِلَ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتُ وَٱلْأَرْضُ وَكُلُّ مَا فِيهَا، لِأَنَّ ٱلنَّاهِبِينَ يَأْتُونَ عَلَيْهَا مِنَ ٱلشِّمَالِ، يَقُولُ ٱلرَّبُّ.

٤٩ 49 كَمَا أَسْقَطَتْ بَابِلُ قَتْلَى إِسْرَائِيلَ، تَسْقُطُ أَيْضًا قَتْلَى بَابِلَ فِي كُلِّ ٱلْأَرْضِ.

٥٠ 50 أَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاجُونَ مِنَ ٱلسَّيْفِ ٱذْهَبُوا. لَا تَقِفُوا. ٱذْكُرُوا ٱلرَّبَّ مِنْ بَعِيدٍ، وَلْتَخْطُرْ أُورُشَلِيمُ بِبَالِكُمْ.

٥١ 51 قَدْ خَزِينَا لِأَنَّنَا قَدْ سَمِعْنَا عَارًا. غَطَّى ٱلْخَجَلُ وُجُوهَنَا لِأَنَّ ٱلْغُرَبَاءَ قَدْ دَخَلُوا مَقَادِسَ بَيْتِ ٱلرَّبِّ.

٥٢ 52 لِذَلِكَ هَا أَيَّامٌ تَأْتِي، يَقُولُ ٱلرَّبُّ، وَأُعَاقِبُ مَنْحُوتَاتِهَا، وَيَتَنَهَّدُ ٱلْجَرْحَى فِي كُلِّ أَرْضِهَا.

٥٣ 53 فَلَوْ صَعِدَتْ بَابِلُ إِلَى ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ، وَلَوْ حَصَّنَتْ عَلْيَاءَ عِزِّهَا، فَمِنْ عِنْدِي يَأْتِي عَلَيْهَا ٱلنَّاهِبُونَ، يَقُولُ ٱلرَّبُّ.

٥٤ 54 «صَوْتُ صُرَاخٍ مِنْ بَابِلَ وَٱنْحِطَامٌ عَظِيمٌ مِنْ أَرْضِ ٱلْكَلْدَانِيِّينَ،

٥٥ 55 لِأَنَّ ٱلرَّبَّ مُخْرِبٌ بَابِلَ وَقَدْ أَبَادَ مِنْهَا ٱلصَّوْتَ ٱلْعَظِيمَ، وَقَدْ عَجَّتْ أَمْوَاجُهُمْ كَمِيَاهٍ كَثِيرَةٍ وَأُطْلِقَ ضَجِيجُ صَوْتِهِمْ.

٥٦ 56 لِأَنَّهُ جَاءَ عَلَيْهَا، عَلَى بَابِلَ، ٱلْمُخْرِبُ، وَأُخِذَ جَبَابِرَتُهَا، وَتَحَطَّمَتْ قِسِيُّهُمْ، لِأَنَّ ٱلرَّبَّ إِلَهُ مُجَازَاةٍ يُكَافِئُ مُكَافَأَةً.

٥٧ 57 وَأُسْكِرُ رُؤَسَاءَهَا وَحُكَمَاءَهَا وَوُلَاتَهَا وَحُكَّامَهَا وَأَبْطَالَهَا فَيَنَامُونَ نَوْمًا أَبَدِيًّا، وَلَا يَسْتَيْقِظُونَ، يَقُولُ ٱلْمَلِكُ رَبُّ ٱلْجُنُودِ ٱسْمُهُ.

٥٨ 58 هَكَذَا قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْجُنُودِ: إِنَّ أَسْوَارَ بَابِلَ ٱلْعَرِيضَةَ تُدَمَّرُ تَدْمِيرًا، وَأَبْوَابُهَا ٱلشَّامِخَةَ تُحْرَقُ بِٱلنَّارِ، فَتَتْعَبُ ٱلشُّعُوبُ لِلْبَاطِلِ، وَٱلْقَبَائِلُ لِلنَّارِ حَتَّى تَعْيَا».

٥٩ 59 اَلْأَمْرُ ٱلَّذِي أَوْصَى بِهِ إِرْمِيَا ٱلنَّبِيُّ سَرَايَا بْنَ نِيرِيَّا بْنِ مَحْسِيَّا، عِنْدَ ذَهَابِهِ مَعَ صِدْقِيَّا مَلِكِ يَهُوذَا إِلَى بَابِلَ فِي ٱلسَّنَةِ ٱلرَّابِعَةِ لِمُلْكِهِ، وَكَانَ سَرَايَا رَئِيسَ ٱلْمَحَلَّةِ،

٦٠ 60 فَكَتَبَ إِرْمِيَا كُلَّ ٱلشَّرِّ ٱلْآتِي عَلَى بَابِلَ فِي سِفْرٍ وَاحِدٍ، كُلَّ هَذَا ٱلْكَلَامِ ٱلْمَكْتُوبِ عَلَى بَابِلَ،

٦١ 61 وَقَالَ إِرْمِيَا لِسَرَايَا: «إِذَا دَخَلْتَ إِلَى بَابِلَ وَنَظَرْتَ وَقَرَأْتَ كُلَّ هَذَا ٱلْكَلَامِ،

٦٢ 62 فَقُلْ: أَنْتَ يَارَبُّ قَدْ تَكَلَّمْتَ عَلَى هَذَا ٱلْمَوْضِعِ لِتَقْرِضَهُ حَتَّى لَا يَكُونَ فِيهِ سَاكِنٌ مِنَ ٱلنَّاسِ إِلَى ٱلْبَهَائِمِ، بَلْ يَكُونُ خِرَبًا أَبَدِيَّةً.

٦٣ 63 وَيَكُونُ إِذَا فَرَغْتَ مِنْ قِرَاءَةِ هَذَا ٱلسِّفْرِ أَنَّكَ تَرْبُطُ بِهِ حَجَرًا وَتَطْرَحُهُ إِلَى وَسْطِ ٱلْفُرَاتِ

٦٤ 64 وَتَقُولُ: هَكَذَا تَغْرَقُ بَابِلُ وَلَا تَقُومُ، مِنَ ٱلشَّرِّ ٱلَّذِي أَنَا جَالِبُهُ عَلَيْهَا وَيَعْيَوْنَ». إِلَى هُنَا كَلَامُ إِرْمِيَا.
