حَجَّي 2

١ 1 فِي ٱلشَّهْرِ ٱلسَّابِعِ فِي ٱلْحَادِي وَٱلْعِشْرِينَ مِنَ ٱلشَّهْرِ، كَانَتْ كَلِمَةُ ٱلرَّبِّ عَنْ يَدِ حَجَّي ٱلنَّبِيِّ قَائِلًا:

In the seventh [month], in the twenty and first of the month, hath a word of Jehovah been by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:

٢ 2 «كَلِّمْ زَرُبَّابِلَ بْنَ شَأَلْتِيئِيلَ وَالِيَ يَهُوذَا، وَيَهُوشَعَ بْنِ يَهُوصَادِقَ ٱلْكَاهِنِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ وَبَقِيَّةِ ٱلشَّعْبِ قَائِلًا:

'Speak, I pray thee, unto Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and unto Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest, and unto the remnant of the people, saying:

٣ 3 مَنِ ٱلْبَاقِي فِيكُمُ ٱلَّذِي رَأَى هَذَا ٱلْبَيْتَ فِي مَجْدِهِ ٱلْأَوَّلِ؟ وَكَيْفَ تَنْظُرُونَهُ ٱلْآنَ؟ أَمَا هُوَ فِي أَعْيُنِكُمْ كَلَا شَيْءٍ!

Who among you hath been left that saw this house in its former honour? And what are ye seeing it now? Is it not, compared with it, as nothing in your eyes?

٤ 4 فَٱلْآنَ تَشَدَّدْ يَا زَرُبَّابِلُ، يَقُولُ ٱلرَّبُّ. وَتَشَدَّدْ يَا يَهُوشَعُ بْنُ يَهُوصَادِقَ ٱلْكَاهِنُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ، وَتَشَدَّدُوا يَا جَمِيعَ شَعْبِ ٱلْأَرْضِ، يَقُولُ ٱلرَّبُّ. وَٱعْمَلُوا فَإِنِّي مَعَكُمْ، يَقُولُ رَبُّ ٱلْجُنُودِ.

And now, be strong, O Zerubbabel, An affirmation of Jehovah, And be strong, O Joshua, son of Josedech, the high priest, And be strong, all ye people of the land, An affirmation of Jehovah, And do ye — (for I [am] with you, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts) —

٥ 5 حَسَبَ ٱلْكَلَامِ ٱلَّذِي عَاهَدْتُكُمْ بِهِ عِنْدَ خُرُوجِكُمْ مِنْ مِصْرَ، وَرُوحِي قَائِمٌ فِي وَسَطِكُمْ. لَا تَخَافُوا.

The thing that I covenanted with you, In your coming forth from Egypt, And My Spirit is remaining in your midst, fear not.

٦ 6 لِأَنَّهُ هَكَذَا قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْجُنُودِ: هِيَ مَرَّةٌ، بَعْدَ قَلِيلٍ، فَأُزَلْزِلُ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ وَٱلْبَحْرَ وَٱلْيَابِسَةَ،

For thus said Jehovah of Hosts: Yet once more — it [is] a little, And I am shaking the heavens and the earth, And the sea, and the dry land,

٧ 7 وَأُزَلْزِلُ كُلَّ ٱلْأُمَمِ. وَيَأْتِي مُشْتَهَى كُلِّ ٱلْأُمَمِ، فَأَمْلَأُ هَذَا ٱلْبَيْتَ مَجْدًا، قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْجُنُودِ.

And I have shaken all the nations, And they have come [to] the desire of all the nations, And I have filled this house [with] honour, Said Jehovah of Hosts.

٨ 8 لِي ٱلْفِضَّةُ وَلِي ٱلذَّهَبُ، يَقُولُ رَبُّ ٱلْجُنُودِ.

Mine [is] the silver, and Mine the gold, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts.

٩ 9 مَجْدُ هَذَا ٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْأَخِيرِ يَكُونُ أَعْظَمَ مِنْ مَجْدِ ٱلْأَوَّلِ، قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْجُنُودِ. وَفِي هَذَا ٱلْمَكَانِ أُعْطِي ٱلسَّلَامَ، يَقُولُ رَبُّ ٱلْجُنُودِ».

Greater is the honour of this latter house, Than of the former, said Jehovah of Hosts, And in this place do I give peace, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts.'

١٠ 10 فِي ٱلرَّابِعِ وَٱلْعِشْرِينَ مِنَ ٱلشَّهْرِ ٱلتَّاسِعِ، فِي ٱلسَّنَةِ ٱلثَّانِيَةِ لِدَارِيُوسَ، كَانَتْ كَلِمَةُ ٱلرَّبِّ عَنْ يَدِ حَجَّي ٱلنَّبِيِّ قَائِلًا:

On the twenty and fourth of the ninth [month], in the second year of Darius, hath a word of Jehovah been by the hand of Haggai the prophet, saying:

١١ 11 «هَكَذَا قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْجُنُودِ: اِسْأَلِ ٱلْكَهَنَةَ عَنِ ٱلشَّرِيعَةِ قَائِلًا:

Thus said Jehovah of Hosts: 'Ask, I pray thee, the priests [of] the law, saying:

١٢ 12 إِنْ حَمَلَ إِنْسَانٌ لَحْمًا مُقَدَّسًا فِي طَرَفِ ثَوْبِهِ وَمَسَّ بِطَرَفِهِ خُبْزًا أَوْ طَبِيخًا أَوْ خَمْرًا أَوْ زَيْتًا أَوْ طَعَامًا مَّا، فَهَلْ يَتَقَدَّسُ؟» فَأَجَابَ ٱلْكَهَنَةُ وَقَالُوا: «لَا».

Lo, one doth carry holy flesh in the skirt of his garment, and he hath come with his skirt against the bread, or against the pottage, or against the wine, or against the oil, or against any food — is it holy?' And the priests answer and say, 'No.'

١٣ 13 فَقَالَ حَجَّي: «إِنْ كَانَ ٱلْمُنَجَّسُ بِمَيْتٍ يَمَسُّ شَيْئًا مِنْ هَذِهِ، فَهَلْ يَتَنَجَّسُ؟» فَأَجَابَ ٱلْكَهَنَةُ وَقَالُوا: «يَتَنَجَّسُ».

And Haggai saith, 'If the unclean of body doth come against any of these, is it unclean?' And the priests answer and say, 'It is unclean.'

١٤ 14 فَأَجَابَ حَجَّي وَقَالَ: «هَكَذَا هَذَا ٱلشَّعْبُ، وَهَكَذَا هَذِهِ ٱلْأُمَّةُ قُدَّامِي، يَقُولُ ٱلرَّبُّ، وَهَكَذَا كُلُّ عَمَلِ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا يُقَرِّبُونَهُ هُنَاكَ. هُوَ نَجِسٌ.

And Haggai answereth and saith, 'So [is] this people, and so [is] this nation before Me — an affirmation of Jehovah — and so [is] every work of their hands, and that which they bring near there — it is unclean.

١٥ 15 وَٱلْآنَ فَٱجْعَلُوا قَلْبَكُمْ مِنْ هَذَا ٱلْيَوْمِ فَرَاجِعًا، قَبْلَ وَضْعِ حَجَرٍ عَلَى حَجَرٍ فِي هَيْكَلِ ٱلرَّبِّ.

And now, lay [it], I pray you, to your heart, From this day, and onwards, Before the laying of stone to stone in the temple of Jehovah.

١٦ 16 مُذْ تِلْكَ ٱلْأَيَّامِ كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ يَأْتِي إِلَى عَرَمَةِ عِشْرِينَ فَكَانَتْ عَشَرَةً. أَتَى إِلَى حَوْضِ ٱلْمِعْصَرَةِ لِيَغْرُفَ خَمْسِينَ فُورَةً فَكَانَتْ عِشْرِينَ.

From that time [one] hath come to a heap of twenty, And it hath been ten, He hath come unto the wine-fat to draw out fifty purahs, And it hath been twenty.

١٧ 17 قَدْ ضَرَبْتُكُمْ بِٱللَّفْحِ وَبِالْيَرَقَانِ وَبِالْبَرَدِ فِي كُلِّ عَمَلِ أَيْدِيكُمْ، وَمَا رَجَعْتُمْ إِلَيَّ، يَقُولُ ٱلرَّبُّ.

I have smitten you with blasting, And with mildew, and with hail — All the work of your hands, And there is none of you with Me, An affirmation of Jehovah.

١٨ 18 فَٱجْعَلُوا قَلْبَكُمْ مِنْ هَذَا ٱلْيَوْمِ فَصَاعِدًا، مِنَ ٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلرَّابِعِ وَٱلْعِشْرِينَ مِنَ ٱلشَّهْرِ ٱلتَّاسِعِ، مِنَ ٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلَّذِي فِيهِ تَأَسَّسَ هَيْكَلُ ٱلرَّبِّ، ٱجْعَلُوا قَلْبَكُمْ.

Set [it], I pray you, to your heart, from this day and onwards, from the twenty and fourth day of the ninth [month], even from the day that the temple of Jehovah hath been founded, set [it] to your heart.

١٩ 19 هَلِ ٱلْبَذْرُ فِي ٱلْأَهْرَاءِ بَعْدُ؟ وَٱلْكَرْمُ وَٱلتِّينُ وَٱلرُّمَّانُ وَٱلزَّيْتُونُ لَمْ يَحْمِلْ بَعْدُ. فَمِنْ هَذَا ٱلْيَوْمِ أُبَارِكُ».

Is the seed yet in the barn? And hitherto the vine and the fig, And the pomegranate, and the olive-tree, Have not borne — from this day I bless.'

٢٠ 20 وَصَارَتْ كَلِمَةُ ٱلرَّبِّ ثَانِيَةً إِلَى حَجَّي، فِي ٱلرَّابِعِ وَٱلْعِشْرِينَ مِنَ ٱلشَّهْرِ قَائِلًا:

And there is a word of Jehovah a second time unto Haggai, on the twenty and fourth of the month, saying:

٢١ 21 «كَلِّمْ زَرُبَّابِلَ وَالِيَ يَهُوذَا قَائِلًا: إِنِّي أُزَلْزِلُ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلْأَرْضَ،

'Speak unto Zerubbabel governor of Judah, saying: I am shaking the heavens and the earth,

٢٢ 22 وَأَقْلِبُ كُرْسِيَّ ٱلْمَمَالِكِ، وَأُبِيدُ قُوَّةَ مَمَالِكِ ٱلْأُمَمِ، وَأَقْلِبُ ٱلْمَرْكَبَاتِ وَٱلرَّاكِبِينَ فِيهَا، وَيَنْحَطُّ ٱلْخَيْلُ وَرَاكِبُوهَا، كُلٌّ مِنْهَا بِسَيْفِ أَخِيهِ.

And have overturned the throne of kingdoms, And I have destroyed the strength of kingdoms of the nations, And overturned chariot and its charioteers, And come down have horses and their riders, Each by the sword of his brother.

٢٣ 23 فِي ذَلِكَ ٱلْيَوْمِ، يَقُولُ رَبُّ ٱلْجُنُودِ، آخُذُكَ يَا زَرُبَّابِلُ عَبْدِي ٱبْنُ شَأَلْتِيئِيلَ، يَقُولُ ٱلرَّبُّ، وَأَجْعَلُكَ كَخَاتِمٍ، لِأَنِّي قَدِ ٱخْتَرْتُكَ، يَقُولُ رَبُّ ٱلْجُنُودِ».

In that day — an affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts, I take thee, Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, My servant — an affirmation of Jehovah, And have set thee as a signet, for on thee I have fixed, An affirmation of Jehovah of Hosts!
