اَلتَّكْوِينُ 11
| وَكَانَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ كُلُّهَا لِسَانًا وَاحِدًا وَلُغَةً وَاحِدَةً. | ١ 1 |
Now the whole earth used one language and had the same words.
| وَحَدَثَ فِي ٱرْتِحَالِهِمْ شَرْقًا أَنَّهُمْ وَجَدُوا بُقْعَةً فِي أَرْضِ شِنْعَارَ وَسَكَنُوا هُنَاكَ. | ٢ 2 |
As they journeyed in the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar and they settled there.
| وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ: «هَلُمَّ نَصْنَعُ لِبْنًا وَنَشْوِيهِ شَيًّا». فَكَانَ لَهُمُ ٱللِّبْنُ مَكَانَ ٱلْحَجَرِ، وَكَانَ لَهُمُ ٱلْحُمَرُ مَكَانَ ٱلطِّينِ. | ٣ 3 |
They said to one another, “Come, let us make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They had brick instead of stone and tar as mortar.
| وَقَالُوا: «هَلُمَّ نَبْنِ لِأَنْفُسِنَا مَدِينَةً وَبُرْجًا رَأْسُهُ بِٱلسَّمَاءِ. وَنَصْنَعُ لِأَنْفُسِنَا ٱسْمًا لِئَلَّا نَتَبَدَّدَ عَلَى وَجْهِ كُلِّ ٱلْأَرْضِ». | ٤ 4 |
They said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower whose top will reach to the sky, and let us make a name for ourselves. If we do not, we will be scattered across the surface of the whole earth.”
| فَنَزَلَ ٱلرَّبُّ لِيَنْظُرَ ٱلْمَدِينَةَ وَٱلْبُرْجَ ٱللَّذَيْنِ كَانَ بَنُو آدَمَ يَبْنُونَهُمَا. | ٥ 5 |
So Yahweh came down to see the city and the tower which the descendants of Adam had built.
| وَقَالَ ٱلرَّبُّ: «هُوَذَا شَعْبٌ وَاحِدٌ وَلِسَانٌ وَاحِدٌ لِجَمِيعِهِمْ، وَهَذَا ٱبْتِدَاؤُهُمْ بِٱلْعَمَلِ. وَٱلْآنَ لَا يَمْتَنِعُ عَلَيْهِمْ كُلُّ مَا يَنْوُونَ أَنْ يَعْمَلُوهُ. | ٦ 6 |
Yahweh said, “Look, they are one people with the same language, and they are beginning to do this! Soon nothing that they intend to do will be impossible for them.
| هَلُمَّ نَنْزِلْ وَنُبَلْبِلْ هُنَاكَ لِسَانَهُمْ حَتَّى لَا يَسْمَعَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِسَانَ بَعْضٍ». | ٧ 7 |
Come, let us go down and confuse their language there, so that they may not understand each other.”
| فَبَدَّدَهُمُ ٱلرَّبُّ مِنْ هُنَاكَ عَلَى وَجْهِ كُلِّ ٱلْأَرْضِ، فَكَفُّوا عَنْ بُنْيَانِ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ، | ٨ 8 |
So Yahweh scattered them from there across the surface of all the earth and they stopped building the city.
| لِذَلِكَ دُعِيَ ٱسْمُهَا «بَابِلَ» لِأَنَّ ٱلرَّبَّ هُنَاكَ بَلْبَلَ لِسَانَ كُلِّ ٱلْأَرْضِ. وَمِنْ هُنَاكَ بَدَّدَهُمُ ٱلرَّبُّ عَلَى وَجْهِ كُلِّ ٱلْأَرْضِ. | ٩ 9 |
Therefore, its name was called Babel, because there Yahweh confused the language of the whole earth and from there Yahweh scattered them abroad over the surface of all the earth.
| هَذِهِ مَوَالِيدُ سَامٍ: لَمَّا كَانَ سَامٌ ٱبْنَ مِئَةِ سَنَةٍ وَلَدَ أَرْفَكْشَادَ، بَعْدَ ٱلطُّوفَانِ بِسَنَتَيْنِ. | ١٠ 10 |
These were the descendants of Shem. Shem was a hundred years old, and he became the father of Arphaxad two years after the flood.
| وَعَاشَ سَامٌ بَعْدَ مَا وَلَدَ أَرْفَكْشَادَ خَمْسَ مِئَةِ سَنَةٍ، وَوَلَدَ بَنِينَ وَبَنَاتٍ. | ١١ 11 |
Shem lived five hundred years after he became the father of Arphaxad. He also became the father of other sons and daughters.
| وَعَاشَ أَرْفَكْشَادُ خَمْسًا وَثَلَاثِينَ سَنَةً وَوَلَدَ شَالَحَ. | ١٢ 12 |
When Arphaxad had lived thirty-five years, he became the father of Shelah.
| وَعَاشَ أَرْفَكْشَادُ بَعْدَ مَا وَلَدَ شَالَحَ أَرْبَعَ مِئَةٍ وَثَلَاثَ سِنِينَ، وَوَلَدَ بَنِينَ وَبَنَاتٍ. | ١٣ 13 |
Arphaxad lived 403 years after he became the father of Shelah. He also became the father of other sons and daughters.
| وَعَاشَ شَالَحُ ثَلَاثِينَ سَنَةً وَوَلَدَ عَابِرَ. | ١٤ 14 |
When Shelah had lived thirty years, he became the father of Eber.
| وَعَاشَ شَالَحُ بَعْدَ مَا وَلَدَ عَابِرَ أَرْبَعَ مِئَةٍ وَثَلَاثَ سِنِينَ، وَوَلَدَ بَنِينَ وَبَنَاتٍ. | ١٥ 15 |
Shelah lived 403 years after he became the father of Eber. He also became the father of other sons and daughters.
| وَعَاشَ عَابِرُ أَرْبَعًا وَثَلَاثِينَ سَنَةً وَوَلَدَ فَالَجَ. | ١٦ 16 |
When Eber had lived thirty-four years, he became the father of Peleg.
| وَعَاشَ عَابِرُ بَعْدَ مَا وَلَدَ فَالَجَ أَرْبَعَ مِئَةٍ وَثَلَاثِينَ سَنَةً، وَوَلَدَ بَنِينَ وَبَنَاتٍ. | ١٧ 17 |
Eber lived 430 years after he became the father of Peleg. He also became the father of other sons and daughters.
| وَعَاشَ فَالَجُ ثَلَاثِينَ سَنَةً وَوَلَدَ رَعُوَ. | ١٨ 18 |
When Peleg had lived thirty years, he became the father of Reu.
| وَعَاشَ فَالَجُ بَعْدَ مَا وَلَدَ رَعُوَ مِئَتَيْنِ وَتِسْعَ سِنِينَ، وَوَلَدَ بَنِينَ وَبَنَاتٍ. | ١٩ 19 |
Peleg lived 209 years after he became the father of Reu. He also became the father of other sons and daughters.
| وَعَاشَ رَعُو ٱثْنَتَيْنِ وَثَلَاثِينَ سَنَةً وَوَلَدَ سَرُوجَ. | ٢٠ 20 |
When Reu had lived thirty-two years, he became the father of Serug.
| وَعَاشَ رَعُو بَعْدَ مَا وَلَدَ سَرُوجَ مِئَتَيْنِ وَسَبْعَ سِنِينَ، وَوَلَدَ بَنِينَ وَبَنَاتٍ. | ٢١ 21 |
Reu lived 207 years after he became the father of Serug. He also became the father of other sons and daughters.
| وَعَاشَ سَرُوجُ ثَلَاثِينَ سَنَةً وَوَلَدَ نَاحُورَ. | ٢٢ 22 |
When Serug had lived thirty years, he became the father of Nahor.
| وَعَاشَ سَرُوجُ بَعْدَ مَا وَلَدَ نَاحُورَ مِئَتَيْ سَنَةٍ، وَوَلَدَ بَنِينَ وَبَنَاتٍ. | ٢٣ 23 |
Serug lived two hundred years after he became the father of Nahor. He also became the father of other sons and daughters.
| وَعَاشَ نَاحُورُ تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً وَوَلَدَ تَارَحَ. | ٢٤ 24 |
When Nahor had live twenty-nine years, he became the father of Terah.
| وَعَاشَ نَاحُورُ بَعْدَ مَا وَلَدَ تَارَحَ مِئَةً وَتِسْعَ عَشَرَةَ سَنَةً، وَوَلَدَ بَنِينَ وَبَنَاتٍ. | ٢٥ 25 |
Nahor lived 119 years after he became the father of Terah. He also became the father of other sons and daughters.
| وَعَاشَ تَارَحُ سَبْعِينَ سَنَةً، وَوَلَدَ أَبْرَامَ وَنَاحُورَ وَهَارَانَ. | ٢٦ 26 |
After Terah had lived seventy years, he became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
| وَهَذِهِ مَوَالِيدُ تَارَحَ: وَلَدَ تَارَحُ أَبْرَامَ وَنَاحُورَ وَهَارَانَ. وَوَلَدَ هَارَانُ لُوطًا. | ٢٧ 27 |
Now these were the descendants of Terah. Terah became the father of Abram, Nahor, and Haran, and Haran became the father of Lot.
| وَمَاتَ هَارَانُ قَبْلَ تَارَحَ أَبِيهِ فِي أَرْضِ مِيلَادِهِ فِي أُورِ ٱلْكَلْدَانِيِّينَ. | ٢٨ 28 |
Haran died in the presence of his father Terah in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldeans.
| وَٱتَّخَذَ أَبْرَامُ وَنَاحُورُ لِأَنْفُسِهِمَا ٱمْرَأَتَيْنِ: ٱسْمُ ٱمْرَأَةِ أَبْرَامَ سَارَايُ، وَٱسْمُ ٱمْرَأَةِ نَاحُورَ مِلْكَةُ بِنْتُ هَارَانَ، أَبِي مِلْكَةَ وَأَبِي يِسْكَةَ. | ٢٩ 29 |
Abram and Nahor took wives. The name of Abram's wife was Sarai and the name of Nahor's wife was Milkah, a daughter of Haran, who was the father of Milkah and Iskah.
| وَكَانَتْ سَارَايُ عَاقِرًا لَيْسَ لَهَا وَلَدٌ. | ٣٠ 30 |
Now Sarai was barren; she had no child.
| وَأَخَذَ تَارَحُ أَبْرَامَ ٱبْنَهُ، وَلُوطًا بْنَ هَارَانَ، ٱبْنَ ٱبْنِهِ، وَسَارَايَ كَنَّتَهُ ٱمْرَأَةَ أَبْرَامَ ٱبْنِهِ، فَخَرَجُوا مَعًا مِنْ أُورِ ٱلْكَلْدَانِيِّينَ لِيَذْهَبُوا إِلَى أَرْضِ كَنْعَانَ. فَأَتَوْا إِلَى حَارَانَ وَأَقَامُوا هُنَاكَ. | ٣١ 31 |
Terah took Abram his son, Lot the son of his son Haran, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, his son Abram's wife, and together they left Ur of the Chaldeans, to go into the land of Canaan. But they came to Haran and stayed there.
| وَكَانَتْ أَيَّامُ تَارَحَ مِئَتَيْنِ وَخَمْسَ سِنِينَ. وَمَاتَ تَارَحُ فِي حَارَانَ. | ٣٢ 32 |
Terah lived 205 years and then died in Haran.
