أفَسُس 5

١ 1 فَكُونُوا مُتَمَثِّلِينَ بِٱللهِ كَأَوْلَادٍ أَحِبَّاءَ،

Therfor be ye foloweris of God, as moost dereworthe sones;

٢ 2 وَٱسْلُكُوا فِي ٱلْمَحَبَّةِ كَمَا أَحَبَّنَا ٱلْمَسِيحُ أَيْضًا وَأَسْلَمَ نَفْسَهُ لِأَجْلِنَا، قُرْبَانًا وَذَبِيحَةً لِلهِ رَائِحَةً طَيِّبَةً.

and walke ye in loue, as Crist louyde vs, and yaf hym silf for vs an offryng and a sacrifice to God, in to the odour of swetnesse.

٣ 3 وَأَمَّا ٱلزِّنَا وَكُلُّ نَجَاسَةٍ أَوْ طَمَعٍ فَلَا يُسَمَّ بَيْنَكُمْ كَمَا يَلِيقُ بِقِدِّيسِينَ،

And fornycacioun, and al vnclennesse, or aueryce, be not named among you, as it bicometh holi men;

٤ 4 وَلَا ٱلْقَبَاحَةُ وَلَا كَلَامُ ٱلسَّفَاهَةِ وَٱلْهَزْلُ ٱلَّتِي لَا تَلِيقُ، بَلْ بِٱلْحَرِيِّ ٱلشُّكْرُ.

ethir filthe, or foli speche, or harlatrye, that perteyneth not to profit, but more doyng of thankyngis.

٥ 5 فَإِنَّكُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ هَذَا: أَنَّ كُلَّ زَانٍ أَوْ نَجِسٍ أَوْ طَمَّاعٍ -ٱلَّذِي هُوَ عَابِدٌ لِلْأَوْثَانِ- لَيْسَ لَهُ مِيرَاثٌ فِي مَلَكُوتِ ٱلْمَسِيحِ وَٱللهِ.

For wite ye this, and vndurstonde, that ech letchour, or vnclene man, or coueytouse, that serueth to mawmetis, hath not eritage in the kingdom of Crist and of God.

٦ 6 لَا يَغُرَّكُمْ أَحَدٌ بِكَلَامٍ بَاطِلٍ، لِأَنَّهُ بِسَبَبِ هَذِهِ ٱلْأُمُورِ يَأْتِي غَضَبُ ٱللهِ عَلَى أَبْنَاءِ ٱلْمَعْصِيَةِ.

No man disseyue you bi veyn wordis; for whi for these thingis the wraththe of God cam on the sones of vnbileue.

٧ 7 فَلَا تَكُونُوا شُرَكَاءَهُمْ.

Therfor nyle ye be maad parteneris of hem.

٨ 8 لِأَنَّكُمْ كُنْتُمْ قَبْلًا ظُلْمَةً، وَأَمَّا ٱلْآنَ فَنُورٌ فِي ٱلرَّبِّ. ٱسْلُكُوا كَأَوْلَادِ نُورٍ.

For ye weren sum tyme derknessis, but now `ye ben liyt in the Lord. Walke ye as the sones of liyt.

٩ 9 لِأَنَّ ثَمَرَ ٱلرُّوحِ هُوَ فِي كُلِّ صَلَاحٍ وَبِرٍّ وَحَقٍّ.

For the fruyt of liyt is in al goodnesse, and riytwisnesse, and treuthe.

١٠ 10 مُخْتَبِرِينَ مَا هُوَ مَرْضِيٌّ عِنْدَ ٱلرَّبِّ.

And preue ye what `thing is wel plesynge to God.

١١ 11 وَلَا تَشْتَرِكُوا فِي أَعْمَالِ ٱلظُّلْمَةِ غَيْرِ ٱلْمُثْمِرَةِ بَلْ بِٱلْحَرِيِّ وَبِّخُوهَا.

And nyle ye comyne to vnfruytouse werkis of derknessis; but more repreue ye.

١٢ 12 لِأَنَّ ٱلْأُمُورَ ٱلْحَادِثَةَ مِنْهُمْ سِرًّا، ذِكْرُهَا أَيْضًا قَبِيحٌ.

For what thingis ben don of hem in priuy, it is foule, yhe, to speke.

١٣ 13 وَلَكِنَّ ٱلْكُلَّ إِذَا تَوَبَّخَ يُظْهَرُ بِٱلنُّورِ. لِأَنَّ كُلَّ مَا أُظْهِرَ فَهُوَ نُورٌ.

And alle thingis that ben repreuyd of the liyt, ben opynli schewid; for al thing that is schewid, is liyt.

١٤ 14 لِذَلِكَ يَقُولُ: «ٱسْتَيْقِظْ أَيُّهَا ٱلنَّائِمُ وَقُمْ مِنَ ٱلْأَمْوَاتِ فَيُضِيءَ لَكَ ٱلْمَسِيحُ».

For which thing he seith, Rise thou that slepist, and rise vp fro deth, and Crist schal liytne thee.

١٥ 15 فَٱنْظُرُوا كَيْفَ تَسْلُكُونَ بِٱلتَّدْقِيقِ، لَا كَجُهَلَاءَ بَلْ كَحُكَمَاءَ،

Therfor, britheren, se ye, hou warli ye schulen go;

١٦ 16 مُفْتَدِينَ ٱلْوَقْتَ لِأَنَّ ٱلْأَيَّامَ شِرِّيرَةٌ.

not as vnwise men, but as wise men, ayenbiynge tyme, for the daies ben yuele.

١٧ 17 مِنْ أَجْلِ ذَلِكَ لَا تَكُونُوا أَغْبِيَاءَ بَلْ فَاهِمِينَ مَا هِيَ مَشِيئَةُ ٱلرَّبِّ.

Therfor nyle ye be maad vnwise, but vndurstondynge which is the wille of God.

١٨ 18 وَلَا تَسْكَرُوا بِٱلْخَمْرِ ٱلَّذِي فِيهِ ٱلْخَلَاعَةُ، بَلِ ٱمْتَلِئُوا بِٱلرُّوحِ،

And nyle ye be drunkun of wyn, in which is letcherie, but be ye fillid with the Hooli Goost; and speke ye to you silf in salmes,

١٩ 19 مُكَلِّمِينَ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا بِمَزَامِيرَ وَتَسَابِيحَ وَأَغَانِيَّ رُوحِيَّةٍ، مُتَرَنِّمِينَ وَمُرَتِّلِينَ فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ لِلرَّبِّ.

and ymnes, and spiritual songis, syngynge and seiynge salm in youre hertis to the Lord;

٢٠ 20 شَاكِرِينَ كُلَّ حِينٍ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ فِي ٱسْمِ رَبِّنَا يَسُوعَ ٱلْمَسِيحِ، لِلهِ وَٱلْآبِ.

euermore doynge thankingis for alle thingis in the name of oure Lord Jhesu Crist to God and to the fadir.

٢١ 21 خَاضِعِينَ بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ فِي خَوْفِ ٱللهِ.

Be ye suget togidere in the drede of Crist.

٢٢ 22 أَيُّهَا ٱلنِّسَاءُ، ٱخْضَعْنَ لِرِجَالِكُنَّ كَمَا لِلرَّبِّ،

Wymmen, be thei suget to her hosebondis,

٢٣ 23 لِأَنَّ ٱلرَّجُلَ هُوَ رَأْسُ ٱلْمَرْأَةِ كَمَا أَنَّ ٱلْمَسِيحَ أَيْضًا رَأْسُ ٱلْكَنِيسَةِ، وَهُوَ مُخَلِّصُ ٱلْجَسَدِ.

as to the Lord, for the man is heed of the wymman, as Crist is heed of the chirche; he is sauyour of his bodi.

٢٤ 24 وَلَكِنْ كَمَا تَخْضَعُ ٱلْكَنِيسَةُ لِلْمَسِيحِ، كَذَلِكَ ٱلنِّسَاءُ لِرِجَالِهِنَّ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ.

But as the chirche is suget to Crist, so wymmen to her hosebondis in alle thingis.

٢٥ 25 أَيُّهَا ٱلرِّجَالُ، أَحِبُّوا نِسَاءَكُمْ كَمَا أَحَبَّ ٱلْمَسِيحُ أَيْضًا ٱلْكَنِيسَةَ وَأَسْلَمَ نَفْسَهُ لِأَجْلِهَا،

Men, loue ye youre wyues, as Crist louyde the chirche, and yaf hym silf for it, to make it holi;

٢٦ 26 لِكَيْ يُقَدِّسَهَا، مُطَهِّرًا إِيَّاهَا بِغَسْلِ ٱلْمَاءِ بِٱلْكَلِمَةِ،

and clenside it with the waisching of watir, in the word of lijf,

٢٧ 27 لِكَيْ يُحْضِرَهَا لِنَفْسِهِ كَنِيسَةً مَجِيدَةً، لَا دَنَسَ فِيهَا وَلَا غَضْنَ أَوْ شَيْءٌ مِنْ مِثْلِ ذَلِكَ، بَلْ تَكُونُ مُقَدَّسَةً وَبِلَا عَيْبٍ.

to yyue the chirche gloriouse to hym silf, that it hadde no wem, ne ryueling, or ony siche thing, but that it be hooli and vndefoulid.

٢٨ 28 كَذَلِكَ يَجِبُ عَلَى ٱلرِّجَالِ أَنْ يُحِبُّوا نِسَاءَهُمْ كَأَجْسَادِهِمْ. مَنْ يُحِبُّ ٱمْرَأَتَهُ يُحِبُّ نَفْسَهُ.

So and men `schulen loue her wyues, as her owne bodies. He that loueth his wijf, loueth hym silf;

٢٩ 29 فَإِنَّهُ لَمْ يُبْغِضْ أَحَدٌ جَسَدَهُ قَطُّ، بَلْ يَقُوتُهُ وَيُرَبِّيهِ، كَمَا ٱلرَّبُّ أَيْضًا لِلْكَنِيسَةِ.

for no man hatide euere his owne fleisch, but nurischith and fostrith it, as Crist doith the chirche.

٣٠ 30 لِأَنَّنَا أَعْضَاءُ جِسْمِهِ، مِنْ لَحْمِهِ وَمِنْ عِظَامِهِ.

And we ben membris of his bodi, of his fleisch, and of his boonys.

٣١ 31 «مِنْ أَجْلِ هَذَا يَتْرُكُ ٱلرَّجُلُ أَبَاهُ وَأُمَّهُ وَيَلْتَصِقُ بِٱمْرَأَتِهِ، وَيَكُونُ ٱلِٱثْنَانِ جَسَدًا وَاحِدًا».

For this thing a man schal forsake his fadir and modir, and he schal drawe to his wijf; and thei schulen be tweyne in o fleisch.

٣٢ 32 هَذَا ٱلسِّرُّ عَظِيمٌ، وَلَكِنَّنِي أَنَا أَقُولُ مِنْ نَحْوِ ٱلْمَسِيحِ وَٱلْكَنِيسَةِ.

This sacrament is greet; yhe, Y seie in Crist, and in the chirche.

٣٣ 33 وَأَمَّا أَنْتُمُ ٱلْأَفْرَادُ، فَلْيُحِبَّ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ ٱمْرَأَتَهُ هَكَذَا كَنَفْسِهِ، وَأَمَّا ٱلْمَرْأَةُ فَلْتَهَبْ رَجُلَهَا.

Netheles ye alle, ech man loue his wijf as hym silf; and the wijf drede hir hosebonde.
