وَذَبَحَ لِآلِهَةِ دِمَشْقَ ٱلَّذِينَ ضَارَبُوهُ وَقَالَ: «لِأَنَّ آلِهَةَ مُلُوكِ أَرَامَ تُسَاعِدُهُمْ أَنَا أَذْبَحُ لَهُمْ فَيُسَاعِدُونَنِي». وَأَمَّا هُمْ فَكَانُوا سَبَبَ سُقُوطٍ لَهُ وَلِكُلِّ إِسْرَائِيلَ. ٢٣ 23
Składał bowiem ofiary bogom z Damaszku, którzy go pokonali, i mówił: Ponieważ bogowie królów Syrii wspomagają ich, będę im składał ofiary, aby i mnie wspomagali. Ale oni stali się przyczyną upadku dla niego i całego Izraela.
