The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
| وَبَنُو قَهَاتَ: عَمْرَامُ وَيِصْهَارُ وَحَبْرُونُ وَعُزِّيئِيلُ. | ٢ 2 |
The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
| وَبَنُو عَمْرَامَ: هَارُونُ وَمُوسَى وَمَرْيَمُ. وَبَنُو هَارُونَ: نَادَابُ وَأَبِيهُو وَأَلِيعَازَارُ وَإِيثَامَارُ. | ٣ 3 |
The children of Amram: Aaron, Moses, and Miriam. The sons of Aaron: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.
| أَلِعَازَارُ وَلَدَ فِينَحَاسَ، وَفِينَحَاسُ وَلَدَ أَبِيشُوعَ، | ٤ 4 |
Eleazar was the father of Phinehas, Phinehas was the father of Abishua,
| وَأَبِيشُوعُ وَلَدَ بُقِّيَ، وَبُقِّي وَلَدَ عُزِّيَ، | ٥ 5 |
Abishua was the father of Bukki, Bukki was the father of Uzzi,
| وَعُزِّي وَلَدَ زَرَحْيَا، وَزَرَحْيَا وَلَدَ مَرَايُوثَ، | ٦ 6 |
Uzzi was the father of Zerahiah, Zerahiah was the father of Meraioth,
| وَمَرَايُوثُ وَلَدَ أَمَرْيَا، وَأَمَرْيَا وَلَدَ أَخِيطُوبَ، | ٧ 7 |
Meraioth was the father of Amariah, Amariah was the father of Ahitub,
| وَأَخِيطُوبُ وَلَدَ صَادُوقَ، وَصَادُوقُ وَلَدَ أَخِيمَعَصَ، | ٨ 8 |
Ahitub was the father of Zadok, Zadok was the father of Ahimaaz,
| وَأَخِيمَعَصُ وَلَدَ عَزَرْيَا، وَعَزَرْيَا وَلَدَ يُوحَانَانَ، | ٩ 9 |
Ahimaaz was the father of Azariah, Azariah was the father of Johanan,
| وَيُوحَانَانُ وَلَدَ عَزَرْيَا، وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي كَهَنَ فِي ٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلَّذِي بَنَاهُ سُلَيْمَانُ فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ، | ١٠ 10 |
Johanan was the father of Azariah (he was the one who was serving as priest when Solomon built the Temple in Jerusalem),
| وَعَزَرْيَا وَلَدَ أَمَرْيَا، وَأَمَرْيَا وَلَدَ أَخِيطُوبَ، | ١١ 11 |
Azariah was the father of Amariah, Amariah was the father of Ahitub,
| وَأَخِيطُوبُ وَلَدَ صَادُوقَ، وَصَادُوقُ وَلَدَ شَلُّومَ، | ١٢ 12 |
Ahitub was the father of Zadok, Zadok was the father of Shallum,
| وَشَلُّومُ وَلَدَ حِلْقِيَّا، وَحِلْقِيَّا وَلَدَ عَزَرْيَا، | ١٣ 13 |
Shallum was the father of Hilkiah, Hilkiah was the father of Azariah,
| وَعَزَرْيَا وَلَدَ سَرَايَا، وَسَرَايَا وَلَدَ يَهُوصَادَاقَ، | ١٤ 14 |
Azariah was the father of Seraiah, and Seraiah was the father of Jehozadak.
| وَيَهُوصَادَاقُ سَارَ فِي سَبْيِ ٱلرَّبِّ يَهُوذَا وَأُورُشَلِيمَ بِيَدِ نَبُوخَذْنَاصَّرَ. | ١٥ 15 |
Jehozadak was taken into captivity when the Lord used Nebuchadnezzar to send Judah and Jerusalem into exile.
| بَنُو لَاوِي: جَرْشُومُ وَقَهَاتُ وَمَرَارِي. | ١٦ 16 |
The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
| وَهَذَانِ ٱسْمَا ٱبْنَيْ جَرْشُومَ: لِبْنِي وَشِمْعِي. | ١٧ 17 |
These are the names of the sons of Gershon: Libni and Shimei.
| وَبَنُو قَهَاتَ: عَمْرَامُ وَيِصْهَارُ وَحَبْرُونُ وَعُزِّيئِيلُ. | ١٨ 18 |
The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.
| وَٱبْنَا مَرَارِي: مَحْلِي وَمُوشِي. فَهَذِهِ عَشَائِرُ ٱللَّاوِيِّينَ حَسَبَ آبَائِهِمْ. | ١٩ 19 |
The sons of Merari: Mahli, and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites listed in order according to their fathers:
| لِجَرْشُومَ: لِبْنِي ٱبْنُهُ، وَيَحَثُ ٱبْنُهُ، وَزِمَّةُ ٱبْنُهُ، | ٢٠ 20 |
The descendants of Gershon: Libni his son, Jehath his son, Zimmah his son,
| وَيُوآخُ ٱبْنُهُ، وَعِدُّو ٱبْنُهُ، وَزَارَحُ ٱبْنُهُ، وَيَأَثْرَايُ ٱبْنُهُ. | ٢١ 21 |
Joah his son, Iddo his son, Zerah his son, and Jeatherai his son.
| بَنُو قَهَاتَ: عَمِّينَادَابُ ٱبْنُهُ، وَقُورَحُ ٱبْنُهُ، وَأَسِّيرُ ٱبْنُهُ، | ٢٢ 22 |
The descendants of Kohath: Amminadab his son, Korah his son, Assir his son,
| وَأَلْقَانَةُ ٱبْنُهُ، وَأَبِيأَسَافُ ٱبْنُهُ، وَأَسِّيرُ ٱبْنُهُ، | ٢٣ 23 |
Elkanah his son, Ebiasaph his son, Assir his son,
| وَتَحَثُ ٱبْنُهُ، وَأُورِيئِيلُ ٱبْنُهُ، وَعُزِّيَّا ٱبْنُهُ، وَشَاوُلُ ٱبْنُهُ. | ٢٤ 24 |
Tahath his son, Uriel his son, Uzziah his son and Shaul his son.
| وَٱبْنَا أَلْقَانَةَ: عَمَاسَايُ وَأَخِيمُوتُ، | ٢٥ 25 |
The descendants of Elkanah: Amasai, Ahimoth,
| وَأَلْقَانَةُ. بَنُو أَلْقَانَةَ: صُوفَايُ ٱبْنُهُ، وَنَحَثُ ٱبْنُهُ، | ٢٦ 26 |
Elkanah his son, Zophai his son, Nahath his son,
| وَأَلِيآبُ ٱبْنُهُ، وَيَرُوحَامُ ٱبْنُهُ، وَأَلْقَانَةُ ٱبْنُهُ. | ٢٧ 27 |
Eliab his son, Jeroham his son, Elkanah his son, and Samuel his son.
| وَٱبْنَا صَمُوئِيلَ: ٱلْبِكْرُ وَشْنِي ثُمَّ أَبِيَّا. | ٢٨ 28 |
The sons of Samuel: Joel (firstborn) and Abijah (second).
| بَنُو مَرَارِي: مَحْلِي، وَلِبْنِي ٱبْنُهُ، وَشِمْعِي ٱبْنُهُ، وَعُزَّةُ ٱبْنُهُ، | ٢٩ 29 |
The descendants of Merari: Mahli, Libni his son, Shimei his son, Uzzah his son,
| وَشِمْعَى ٱبْنُهُ، وَحَجِيَّا ٱبْنُهُ، وَعَسَايَا ٱبْنُهُ. | ٣٠ 30 |
Shimea his son, Haggiah his son, and Asaiah his son.
| وَهَؤُلَاءِ هُمُ ٱلَّذِينَ أَقَامَهُمْ دَاوُدُ عَلَى يَدِ ٱلْغِنَاءِ فِي بَيْتِ ٱلرَّبِّ بَعْدَمَا ٱسْتَقَرَّ ٱلتَّابُوتُ. | ٣١ 31 |
These are the musicians David appointed to direct the music in the house of the Lord once the Ark had been placed there.
| وَكَانُوا يَخْدِمُونَ أَمَامَ مَسْكَنِ خَيْمَةِ ٱلِٱجْتِمَاعِ بِٱلْغِنَاءِ إِلَى أَنْ بَنَى سُلَيْمَانُ بَيْتَ ٱلرَّبِّ فِي أُورُشَلِيمَ، فَقَامُوا عَلَى خِدْمَتِهِمْ حَسَبَ تَرْتِيبِهِمْ. | ٣٢ 32 |
They led out in the music and singing before the Tabernacle, the Tent of Meeting, until Solomon built the Lord's Temple in Jerusalem. They served following the regulations they had been given.
| وَهَؤُلَاءِ هُمُ ٱلْقَائِمُونَ مَعَ بَنِيهِمْ. مِنْ بَنِي ٱلْقَهَاتِيِّينَ: هَيْمَانُ ٱلْمُغَنِّي ٱبْنُ يُوئِيلَ بْنِ صَمُوئِيلَ | ٣٣ 33 |
Here are the men who served, together with their sons: From the Kohathites: Heman, the singer, the son of Joel, the son of Samuel,
| بْنِ أَلْقَانَةَ بْنِ يَرُوحَامَ بْنِ إِيلِيئِيلَ بْنِ تُوحَ | ٣٤ 34 |
the son of Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Eliel, the son of Toah,
| بْنِ صُوفَ بْنِ أَلْقَانَةَ بْنِ مَحَثَ بْنِ عَمَاسَايَ | ٣٥ 35 |
the son of Zuph, the son of Elkanah, the son of Mahath, the son of Amasai,
| بْنِ أَلْقَانَةَ بْنِ يُوئِيلَ بْنِ عَزَرْيَا بْنِ صَفَنْيَا | ٣٦ 36 |
the son of Elkanah, the son of Joel, the son of Azariah, the son of Zephaniah,
| بْنِ تَحَثَ بْنِ أَسِّيرَ بْنِ أَبِيَاسَافَ بْنِ قُورَحَ | ٣٧ 37 |
the son of Tahath, the son of Assir, the son of Ebiasaph, the son of Korah,
| بْنِ يِصْهَارَ بْنِ قَهَاتَ بْنِ لَاوِي بْنِ إِسْرَائِيلَ. | ٣٨ 38 |
the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, the son of Israel.
| وَأَخُوهُ آسَافُ ٱلْوَاقِفُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ. آسَافُ بْنُ بَرَخْيَا بْنِ شِمْعِي | ٣٩ 39 |
Asaph, Heman's relative, who served beside him on the right: Asaph son of Berekiah, the son of Shimea,
| بْنِ مِيخَائِيلَ بْنِ بَعَسِيَا بْنِ مَلْكِيَا | ٤٠ 40 |
the son of Michael, the son of Baaseiah, the son of Malkijah,
| بْنِ أَثْنَايَ بْنِ زَارَحَ بْنِ عَدَايَا | ٤١ 41 |
the son of Ethni, the son of Zerah, the son of Adaiah,
| بْنِ أَيْثَانَ بْنِ زِمَّةَ بْنِ شِمْعِي | ٤٢ 42 |
the son of Ethan, the son of Zimmah, the son of Shimei,
| بْنِ يَحَثَ بْنِ جَرْشُومَ بْنِ لَاوِي. | ٤٣ 43 |
the son of Jahath, the son of Gershon, the son of Levi.
| وَبَنُو مَرَارِي إِخْوَتُهُمْ عَنِ ٱلْيَسَارِ. أَيْثَانُ بْنُ قِيشِي بْنِ عَبْدِي بْنِ مَلُّوخَ | ٤٤ 44 |
To Heman's left served sons of Merari: Ethan son of Kishi, the son of Abdi, the son of Malluch,
| بْنِ حَشَبْيَا بْنِ أَمَصْيَا بْنِ حِلْقِيَّا | ٤٥ 45 |
the son of Hashabiah, the son of Amaziah, the son of Hilkiah,
| بْنِ أَمْصِي بْنِ بَانِي بْنِ شَامِرَ | ٤٦ 46 |
the son of Amzi, the son of Bani, the son of Shemer,
| بْنِ مَحْلِي بْنِ مُوشِي بْنِ مَرَارِي بْنِ لَاوِي. | ٤٧ 47 |
the son of Mahli, the son of Mushi, the son of Merari, the son of Levi.
| وَإِخْوَتُهُمُ ٱللَّاوِيُّونَ مُقَامُونَ لِكُلِّ خِدْمَةِ مَسْكَنِ بَيْتِ ٱللهِ. | ٤٨ 48 |
The other Levites carried out all the other functions in the Tabernacle, the house of God.
| وَأَمَّا هَارُونُ وَبَنُوهُ فَكَانُوا يُوقِدُونَ عَلَى مَذْبَحِ ٱلْمُحْرَقَةِ وَعَلَى مَذْبَحِ ٱلْبَخُورِ مَعَ كُلِّ عَمَلِ قُدْسِ ٱلْأَقْدَاسِ، وَلِلتَّكْفِيرِ عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ حَسَبَ كُلِّ مَا أَمَرَ بِهِ مُوسَى عَبْدُ ٱللهِ. | ٤٩ 49 |
However, it was Aaron and his descendants who were the ones who gave offerings on the altar of burnt offering and on the altar of incense and did all the work in the Most Holy Place, making atonement for Israel according to everything Moses the servant of God had commanded.
| وَهَؤُلَاءِ بَنُو هَارُونَ: أَلِعَازَارُ ٱبْنُهُ، وَفِينَحَاسُ ٱبْنُهُ، وَأَبِيشُوعُ ٱبْنُهُ، | ٥٠ 50 |
The descendants of Aaron were: Eleazar his son, Phinehas his son, Abishua his son,
| وَبُقِّي ٱبْنُهُ، وَعُزِّي ٱبْنُهُ، وَزَرَحْيَا ٱبْنُهُ، | ٥١ 51 |
Bukki his son, Uzzi his son, Zerahiah his son,
| وَمَرَايُوثُ ٱبْنُهُ، وَأَمَرْيَا ٱبْنُهُ، وَأَخِيطُوبُ ٱبْنُهُ، | ٥٢ 52 |
Meraioth his son, Amariah his son, Ahitub his son,
| وَصَادُوقُ ٱبْنُهُ، وَأَخِيمَعَصُ ٱبْنُهُ. | ٥٣ 53 |
Zadok his son, and Ahimaaz his son.
| وَهَذِهِ مَسَاكِنُهُمْ مَعَ ضِيَاعِهِمْ وَتُخُومِهِمْ: لِبَنِي هَارُونَ، لِعَشِيرَةِ ٱلْقَهَاتِيِّينَ لِأَنَّهُ لَهُمْ كَانَتِ ٱلْقُرْعَةُ. | ٥٤ 54 |
These were the places they were given to live as their territory allotted to descendants of Aaron, beginning with the Kohathite clan, because theirs was the first lot:
| وَأَعْطَوْهُمْ حَبْرُونَ فِي أَرْضِ يَهُوذَا وَمَسَارِحَهَا حَوَالَيْهَا. | ٥٥ 55 |
They received Hebron in Judah together with its surrounding pasturelands.
| وَأَمَّا حَقْلُ ٱلْمَدِينَةِ وَدِيَارُهَا فَأَعْطَوْهَا لِكَالَبَ بْنِ يَفُنَّةَ. | ٥٦ 56 |
But the fields and villages near the town were given to Caleb son of Jephunneh.
| وَأَعْطَوْا لِبَنِي هَارُونَ مُدُنَ ٱلْمَلْجَإِ حَبْرُونَ وَلِبْنَةَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَيَتِّيرَ وَأَشْتَمُوعَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا | ٥٧ 57 |
So the descendants of Aaron received Hebron, a town of refuge, Libnah, Jattir, Eshtemoa,
| وَحِيلَيْنَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَدَبِيرَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، | ٥٨ 58 |
Hilen, Debir,
| وَعَاشَانَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَبَيْتَشَمْسَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا. | ٥٩ 59 |
Ashan, Juttah and Beth Shemesh, together with their pasturelands.
| وَمِنْ سِبْطِ بَنْيَامِينَ جَبْعَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَعَلْمَثَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَعَنَاثُوثَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا. جَمِيعُ مُدُنِهِمْ ثَلَاثَ عَشَرَةَ مَدِينَةً حَسَبَ عَشَائِرِهِمْ. | ٦٠ 60 |
From the tribe of Benjamin they received Gibeon, Geba, Alemeth, and Anathoth, together with their pasturelands. They had a total of thirteen towns among their families.
| وَلِبَنِي قَهَاتَ ٱلْبَاقِينَ مِنْ عَشِيرَةِ ٱلسِّبْطِ مِنْ نِصْفِ ٱلسِّبْطِ، نِصْفِ مَنَسَّى، بِٱلْقُرْعَةِ عَشَرُ مُدُنٍ. | ٦١ 61 |
The rest of Kohath's descendants received by lot ten towns from the half tribe of Manasseh.
| وَلِبَنِي جَرْشُومَ حَسَبَ عَشَائِرِهِمْ. مِنْ سِبْطِ يَسَّاكَرَ وَمِنْ سِبْطِ أَشِيرَ وَمِنْ سِبْطِ نَفْتَالِي وَمِنْ سِبْطِ مَنَسَّى فِي بَاشَانَ ثَلَاثَ عَشَرَةَ مَدِينَةً. | ٦٢ 62 |
The descendants of Gershon, by family, received thirteen towns from the tribes of Issachar, Asher, and Naphtali, and from the partial tribe of Manasseh in Bashan.
| لِبَنِي مَرَارِي حَسَبَ عَشَائِرِهِمْ مِنْ سِبْطِ رَأُوبَيْنَ وَمِنْ سِبْطِ جَادَ وَمِنْ سِبْطِ زَبُولُونَ بِٱلْقُرْعَةِ ٱثْنَتَا عَشَرَةَ مَدِينَةً. | ٦٣ 63 |
The descendants of Merari, by family, received twelve towns from the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Zebulun.
| فَأَعْطَى بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ ٱللَّاوِيِّينَ ٱلْمُدُنَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا. | ٦٤ 64 |
So the people of Israel gave the Levites these towns and their pasturelands.
| وَأَعْطَوْا بِٱلْقُرْعَةِ مِنْ سِبْطِ يَهُوذَا وَمِنْ سِبْطِ بَنِي شِمْعُونَ وَمِنْ سِبْطِ بَنِي بَنْيَامِينَ هَذِهِ ٱلْمُدُنَ ٱلَّتِي سَمَّوْهَا بِأَسْمَاءٍ. | ٦٥ 65 |
They allotted the towns already mentioned by name from the tribes of Judah, Simeon, and Benjamin.
| وَبَعْضُ عَشَائِرِ بَنِي قَهَاتَ كَانَتْ مُدُنُ تُخُمِهِمْ مِنْ سِبْطِ أَفْرَايِمَ. | ٦٦ 66 |
Some of the Kohathite families received as their territory towns from the tribe of Ephraim.
| وَأَعْطَوْهُمْ مُدُنَ ٱلْمَلْجَإِ: شَكِيمَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا فِي جَبَلِ أَفْرَايِمَ، وَجَازَرَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، | ٦٧ 67 |
They were given Shechem, a town of refuge, in the hill country of Ephraim, Gezer,
| وَيَقْمَعَامَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَبَيْتَ حُورُونَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، | ٦٨ 68 |
Jokmeam, Beth Horon,
| وَأَيَّلُونَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَجَتَّ رِمُّونَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا. | ٦٩ 69 |
Aijalon, and Gath Rimmon, together with their pasturelands.
| وَمِنْ نِصْفِ سِبْطِ مَنَسَّى: عَانِيرَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَبِلْعَامَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، لِعَشِيرَةِ بَنِي قَهَاتَ ٱلْبَاقِينَ. | ٧٠ 70 |
From half the tribe of Manasseh the people of Israel gave Aner and Bileam, together with their pasturelands, to the rest of the Kohathite families.
| لِبَنِي جَرْشُومَ مِنْ نِصْفِ سِبْطِ مَنَسَّى: جُولَانُ فِي بَاشَانَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَعَشْتَارُوتُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا. | ٧١ 71 |
The descendants of Gershon received the following. From the family of the half-tribe of Manasseh: Golan in Bashan, and Ashtaroth, together with their pasturelands;
| وَمِنْ سِبْطِ يَسَّاكَرَ: قَادَشُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَدَبَرَةُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، | ٧٢ 72 |
from the tribe of Issachar: Kedesh, Daberath,
| وَرَامُوتُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَعَانِيمُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا. | ٧٣ 73 |
Ramoth, and Anem, together with their pasturelands;
| وَمِنْ سِبْطِ أَشِيرَ: مَشْآلُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَعَبْدُونُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، | ٧٤ 74 |
from the tribe of Asher: Mashal, Abdon,
| وَحُقُوقُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَرَحُوبُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا. | ٧٥ 75 |
Hukok, and Rehob, together with their pasturelands;
| وَمِنْ سِبْطِ نَفْتَالِي: قَادَشُ فِي ٱلْجَلِيلِ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَحَمُّونُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَقَرْيَتَايِمُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا. | ٧٦ 76 |
and from the tribe of Naphtali: Kedesh in Galilee, Hammon, and Kiriathaim, together with their pasturelands.
| لِبَنِي مَرَارِي ٱلْبَاقِينَ مِنْ سِبْطِ زَبُولُونَ: رِمُّونُو وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَتَابُورُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا. | ٧٧ 77 |
The rest of the descendants of Merari received the following. From the tribe of Zebulun: Jokneam, Kartah, Rimmono, and Tabor, together with their pasturelands;
| وَفِي عَبْرِ أُرْدُنِّ أَرِيحَا شَرْقِيَّ ٱلْأُرْدُنِّ، مِنْ سِبْطِ رَأُوبَيْنَ: بَاصَرُ فِي ٱلْبَرِّيَّةِ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَيَهْصَةُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، | ٧٨ 78 |
from the tribe of Reuben on the east side of the Jordan opposite Jericho: Bezer (in the desert), Jahzah,
| وَقَدِيمُوتُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَمَيْفَعَةُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا. | ٧٩ 79 |
Kedemoth, and Mephaath, together with their pasturelands;
| وَمِنْ سِبْطِ جَادَ: رَامُوتُ فِي جِلْعَادَ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَمَحَنَايِمُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، | ٨٠ 80 |
and from the tribe of Gad: Ramoth in Gilead, Mahanaim,
| وَحَشْبُونُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا، وَيَعْزِيرُ وَمَسَارِحَهَا. | ٨١ 81 |
Heshbon, and Jazer, together with their pasturelands.
