Psalmet 53

1 Njeriu i pamend në zemër të vet ka thënë: “Perëndi nuk ka”. Janë të korruptuar, bëjnë gjëra të neveritshme; s’ka njeri që të bëjë të mirën.

To the Chief Musician. On Mahalath. A Psalm of Instruction, of David. The impious hath said in his heart, There is no God! They have acted corruptly, They have wrought abominable perversity, There is none that doeth good: —

2 Perëndia shikon nga qielli bijtë e njerëzve, për të parë në se ndonjë prej tyre ka mend dhe kërkon Perëndinë.

God, out of the heavens, looked down upon the sons of men, —To see whether there was one that showed wisdom, Enquiring after God.

3 Të gjithë janë shmangur, të gjithë janë prishur; nuk ka njeri që të bëjë të mirën, as edhe një.

They all, have turned back, together have they become tainted, —There is none that doeth good, Not so much as, one!

4 Nuk kanë asnjë dije këta veprues të paudhësisë që gllabërojnë popullin tim sikur të hanin bukë, dhe nuk kërkojnë Perëndinë?

Are the workers of iniquity, without knowledge? Devouring my people, [as] they devour food? Upon God, have they not called.

5 Sepse i ka zënë një frikë e madhe, aty kur nuk kishte arsye për frikë, sepse Perëndia i ka shpërndarë eshtrat e atyre që ngrihen kundër teje. Ti e mbulove me turp, sepse Perëndia i ka hedhur poshtë.

There have they been in great dread where no dread was, Because, God, hath scattered the bones of thy besieger, —Thou hast put [him] to shame, Because, God, had, rejected, them.

6 Kush do të dërgojë nga Sioni shpëtimin e Izraelit? Kur Perëndia do të rivendosë fatin e popullit të tij në robëri, Jakobi do të ngazëllojë, Izraeli do të gëzohet.

Oh that, out of Zion, were granted the salvations of Israel! When God bringeth back the captives of his people, Jacob, shall exult, Israel, shall be glad.
