1 Fjalët e urta të Salomonit, birit të Davidit, mbret i Izraelit,
The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, King of Israel:
2 për të njohur diturinë dhe për të mësuar gjykimet e mënçura;
For the knowledge of wisdom and correction, for discerning the sayings of intelligence;
3 për të ditur si të veprosh me urti, me drejtësi, me gjykim dhe ndershmëri,
For receiving the correction of prudence, righteousness and justice, and equity;
4 për t’u dhënë shkathtësi njerëzve të thjeshtë, njohje dhe reflektim të riut.
For giving To the simple shrewdness, To the young man, knowledge and discretion.
5 I urti do të dëgjojë dhe do të rritë diturinë e tij; njeriu i zgjuar do të përfitojë këshilla të urta,
A wise man, will hear, and will increase learning, and a, discreet man, wise counsels, will acquire,
6 për të kuptuar një sentencë dhe një enigmë, fjalët e të urtëve dhe thëniet e tyre të errëta.
By gaining discernment of proverb, and satire, the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.
7 Frika e Zotit është fillimi i njohjes; por njerëzit e pamend përçmojnë diturinë dhe arsimin.
The reverence of Yahweh, is the beginning of knowledge, Wisdom and correction, the foolish have despised.
8 Dëgjo, o biri im, mësimet e atit tënd dhe mos i lër pas dore mësimet e nënes sate,
Hear, my son, the correction of thy father, and do not reject the instruction of thy mother;
9 sepse janë një nur që zbukuron kokën tënde dhe një stoli në qafën tënde.
For, a wreath of beauty, shall they be to thy head, and chains of ornament, to thy neck.
10 Biri im, në qoftë se mëkatarët duan të të mashtrojnë, mos prano,
My son, if sinners entice thee, do not consent.
11 në qoftë se thonë: “Eja me ne; kemi ngritur një pritë për të derdhur gjak; i ngritëm gracka të pafajmit pa ndonjë shkak;
If they say—Come with us, —Let us lie in wait for blood, Let us watch in secret for him who is needlessly innocent;
Let us engulf them, like hades, alive, While in health, like them who are going down to the pit; (Sheol h7585)
13 ne do të gjejmë lloj-lloj pasurish të çmueshme, do t’i mbushim shtëpitë tona me plaçka;
All costly substance, shall we find, We shall fill our houses with spoil;
14 ti do ta hedhësh në short pjesën tënde me ne, dhe të gjithë ne do të kemi një qese të vetme”;
Thy lot, shalt thou cast into our midst, One purse, shall there be, for us all.
15 biri im, mos shko me ta në po atë rrugë, ndale hapin nga shtegu i tyre,
My son, do not walk in the way with them, Withhold thy foot from their path.
16 sepse këmbët e tyre turren drejt së keqes dhe ata nxitojnë të derdhin gjak.
For, their feet, to mischief, do run, and haste to the shedding of blood.
17 Shtrihet më kot rrjeta përpara çdo lloji zogjsh;
Surely, in vain, is spread the net, in the sight of aught that hath wings!
18 por këta kurdisin prita kundër gjakut të vet dhe ngrenë kurthe kundër vetë jetës së tyre.
Yet, they, for their own blood, lie in wait, They watch in secret for their own life.
19 Të tilla janë rrugët e çdo njeriu të etur për pasuri; ajo ia heq jetën atyre që e kanë.
Such are the ways of every one that graspeth with greed, The life of the owners thereof, it taketh away!
20 Dituria bërtet nëpër rrugë, zëri i saj dëgjohet nëpër sheshe;
Wisdom, in the open place, soundeth forth, in the broadways, she raiseth her voice;
21 ajo thërret në vendet ku ka turma dhe ligjëron në hyrje të portave të qytetit;
At the head of bustling streets, she crieth aloud, —at the openings of the gates in the city—her sayings, she doth utter: —
22 “Deri kur, o njerëz të thjeshtë, do t’ju pëlqejë thjeshtësia dhe tallësit do të kënaqen duke u tallur dhe budallenjtë do të urrejnë dijen?
How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and, scoffers, in scoffing, delight them? and, dullards, hate knowledge?
23 Ejani në vete nga qortimi im; ja, unë do të derdh mbi ju Frymën time dhe do t’ju bëj të njohura fjalët e mia.
Will ye turn, at my reproof? Lo! I will pour out to you my spirit, I will make known my words to you.
24 Sepse unë thirra dhe ju nuk keni dashur, shtriva dorën time dhe askush prej jush nuk i kushtoi vëmendje,
Because I called, and ye refused, I stretched out my hand, and no one regarded;
25 përkundrazi hodhët poshtë të gjitha këshillat e mia dhe nuk pranuat ndreqjen time,
But ye dismissed all my counsel, and, to my rebuke, would not yield,
26 edhe unë do të qesh me fatkeqësinë tuaj, do të tallem kur të vijë ajo që ju druani,
I also, at your calamity, will laugh, I will mock, when cometh your dread;
27 kur ajo që druani të vijë si një furtunë, dhe fatkeqësia juaj të vijë si një stuhi, kur t’ju mbulojnë fatkeqësia dhe ankthi.
When cometh as a crashing your dread, and, your calamity, as a storm-wind, overtaketh, when there come upon you, distress and anguish.
28 Atëherë ata do të më thërrasin mua, por unë nuk do të përgjigjem; do të më kërkojnë me kujdes, por nuk do të më gjejnë.
Then, will they call me, but I will not answer, they will seek me diligently, but shall not find me.
29 Sepse kanë urryer dijen dhe nuk kanë zgjedhur frikën e Zotit,
Because they hated knowledge, and, the reverence of Yahweh, did not choose;
30 nuk kanë dashur të pranojnë këshillën time dhe kanë përbuzur të gjitha qortimet e mia.
Consented not to my counsel, disdained all my rebuke,
31 Prandaj do të hanë frytin e sjelljes së tyre dhe do të ngopen me këshillat e tyre.
Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and, with their own counsels, be filled.
32 Sepse përdalja e njerëzve të thjeshtë i vret dhe qetësia e rreme e budallenjve i zhduk;
For, the turning away of the simple, will slay them, —and, the carelessness of dullards, will destroy them.
33 por ai që më dëgjon do të banojë një vend të sigurt, do të jetë me të vërtetë i qetë, pa frikë nga çfarëdo e keqe”.
Whereas, he that hearkeneth unto me, shall dwell safely, and be at rest, without dread of misfortune.
