Gjyqtarët 12

1 Njerëzit e Efraimit u mblodhën, kaluan në Tsafon dhe i thanë Jefteut: “Pse shkove të luftosh kundër bijve të Amonit dhe nuk na thirre të vinin bashkë me ty? Ne do t’i vëmë zjarrin shtëpisë sate bashkë me ty brenda”.

And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said to Jephthah, Why didst thou pass over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thy house upon thee with fire.

2 Jefteu iu përgjegj atyre: “Unë dhe populli im kemi pasur një grindje të madhe me bijtë e Amonit; dhe kur ju kërkova ndihmë nuk më liruat nga duart e tyre.

And Jephthah said to them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, ye delivered me not out of their hands.

3 Kështu, duke parë se nuk më vinit në ndihmë, vura në rrezik jetën time dhe marshova kundër bijve të Amonit, dhe Zoti m’i dha në duart e mia. Pse, pra, jeni ngritur sot kundër meje për të më luftuar?”.

And when I saw that ye delivered me not, I put my life in my hands, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and the LORD delivered them into my hand: why then have ye come up to me this day, to fight against me?

4 Pastaj Jefteu mblodhi tërë njerëzit e Galaadit dhe u ndesh me Efraimin; dhe njerëzit e Galaadit e mundën Efraimin, sepse këta thonin: “Ju Galaaditët jeni ikanakë të Efraimit në mes të Efraimit dhe në mes të Manasit!”.

Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.

5 Njerëzit e Galaadit zunë vatë e Jordanit para se të arrinin ata të Efraimit; kështu kur ndonje nga ikanakët e Efraimit thoshte: “M lini të kaloj”, njerëzit e Galaadit e pyesnin: “A je ti një Efraimit?”. Në rast se ai përgjigjej: “Jo”, Galaaditët i thonin:

And the Gileadites took the fords of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so, that when those Ephraimites who had escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said to him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay;

6 “Atëherë thuaj Shiboleth; në rast se ai thoshte “Shiboleth”, sepse nuk mund ta shqiptonte si duhet, e kapnin dhe e vrisnin pranë vaut të Jordanit. Në atë kohë u vranë në këtë mënyrë dyzet e dy mijë njerëz të Efraimit.

Then said they to him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the fords of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand.

7 Jefteu ushtroi funksionin e gjyqtarit gjashtë vjet me radhë. Pastaj Jefteu, Galaaditi, vdiq dhe u varros në një nga qytetet e Galaadit.

And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then died Jephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.

8 Mbas tij gjyqtar i Izraelit u bë Ibtsani nga Betlemi.

And after him Ibzan of Bethlehem judged Israel.

9 Ai pati tridhjetë bij; martoi tridhjetë bijat e tij dhe solli nga jashtë tridhjetë vajza për bijtë e tij. Qe gjyqtar i Izraelit shtatë vjet me radhë.

And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters, whom he sent abroad, and took in thirty daughters from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.

10 Pastaj Ibtsani vdiq dhe u varros në Betlem.

Then died Ibzan, and was buried at Bethlehem.

11 Mbas tij gjyqtar i Izraelit u bë Eloni, Zabulonit; qe gjyqtar i Izraelit dhjetë vjet me radhë.

And after him Elon, a Zebulonite, judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years.

12 Pastaj Eloni, Zabulonit, vdiq dhe e varrosën në Ajalon, në vendin e Zabulonit.

And Elon the Zebulonite died, and was buried in Aijalon in the country of Zebulun.

13 Mbas tij qe gjyqtar i Izraelit Abdoni, bir i Hilelit, Pirathoniti.

And after him Abdon the son of Hillel, a Pirathonite, judged Israel.

14 Ai pati dyzet bij dhe tridhjetë nipa, që u hipnin shtatëdhjetë gomarëve të vegjël. Ai qe gjyqtar i Izraelit tetë vjet me radhë.

And he had forty sons and thirty grandsons, that rode on seventy young donkeys: and he judged Israel eight years.

15 Pastaj Abdoni, bir i Hilelit, Pirathoniti, vdiq dhe e varrosën në Pirathon, në vendin e Efraimit, në krahinën malore të Amalekut.

And Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the mount of the Amalekites.
