Esdra 5

1 Por profetët Axhe dhe Zakaria, bir i Idos, u profetizuan Judejve që ishin në Judë dhe në Jeruzalem në emër të Perëndisë të Izraelit që ishte mbi ta.

And prophesied have the prophets, (Haggai the prophet, and Zechariah son of Iddo) unto the Jews who [are] in Judah and in Jerusalem, in the name of the God of Israel — unto them.

2 Atëherë Zorobabeli, bir i Shealtielit, dhe Jeshua, bir i Jotsadakut, u ngritën dhe nisën të ndërtojnë shtëpinë e Perëndisë në Jeruzalem; dhe me ta ishin profetët e Perëndisë, që i ndihmonin.

Then have Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua son of Jozadak, risen, and begun to build the house of God, that [is] in Jerusalem, and with them are the prophets of God supporting them.

3 Në atë kohë erdhën tek ata Tatenai, qeveritar i krahinës matanë Lumit, Shethar-Boznai dhe kolegët e tyre dhe u folën kështu: “Kush ju dha urdhër të ndërtoni këtë tempull dhe të rindërtoni këto mure?”.

At that time come to them hath Tatnai, governor beyond the river, and Shethar-Boznai, and their companions, and thus they are saying to them, 'Who hath made for you a decree this house to build, and this wall to finish?'

4 Pastaj ne u treguam atyre emrat e njerëzve që ndërtonin këtë godinë.

Then thus we have said to them, 'What [are] the names of the men who are building this building?'

5 Por pleqtë e Judejve i ruante syri i Perëndisë të tyre; dhe ata nuk mundën t’i bëjnë të ndërprisnin punën deri sa t’i dërgohej një raport Darit dhe të vinte një përgjigje për këtë çështje.

And the eye of their God hath been upon the elders of the Jews, and they have not caused them to cease till the matter goeth to Darius, and then they send back a letter concerning this thing.

6 Kjo është një kopje e letrës që iu dërgua mbretit Dari nga Tatenai, qeveritar i krahinës matanë Lumit, nga Shethar-Boznai dhe nga kolegët e tij, Afarsekitët, që ishin matanë Lumit.

The copy of a letter that Tatnai, governor beyond the river, hath sent, and Shethar-Boznai and his companions, the Apharsachites who [are] beyond the river, unto Darius the king.

7 I dërguan një letër të shkruar në këtë mënyrë: “Mbretit Dari, shëndet të plotë!

A letter they have sent unto him, and thus is it written in it:

8 I bëjmë të njohur mbretit që ne kemi vajtur në krahinën e Judës, në tempullin e Perëndisë të madh. Ai po ndërtohet me gurë të mëdhenj dhe po vihet lëndë druri për ndarëset e tij. Kjo punë po kryhet me kujdes dhe po ecën mirë në duart e tyre.

'To Darius the king, all peace! be it known to the king that we have gone to the province of Judah, to the great house of God, and it is built [with] rolled stones, and wood is placed in the walls, and this work is done speedily, and prospering in their hand.

9 Ne kemi pyetur ata pleq dhe u kemi folur kështu: “Kush ju ka dhënë urdhër të ndërtoni këtë tempull dhe të ndërtoni këto mure?”.

Then we have asked of these elders, thus we have said to them, Who hath made for you a decree this house to build, and this wall to finish?

10 U kemi kërkuar edhe emrat e tyre, me qëllim që të vinim me shkrim emrat e njerëzve që janë në krye të tyre, dhe pastaj të t’i bënim të njohur.

And also their names we have asked of them, to let thee know, that we might write the names of the men who [are] at their head.

11 Dhe ata na janë përgjigjur kështu, duke thënë: “Ne jemi shërbëtorët e Perëndisë të qiellit dhe të dheut dhe rindërtojmë tempullin që ishte ndërtuar shumë vjet më parë; një mbret i madh i Izraelit e kishte ndërtuar dhe mbaruar.

'And thus they have returned us word, saying, We [are] servants of the God of heaven and earth, and are building the house that was built many years before this, that a great king of Israel built and finished:

12 Duke qenë se etërit tanë kanë provokuar zemërimin e Perëndisë të qiellit, ai i dha në duart e Nebukadnetsarit, mbretit të Babilonisë, Kaldeasit, i cili e shkatërroi këtë tempull dhe e internoi popullin në Babiloni.

but after that our fathers made the God of heaven angry, he gave them into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon the Chaldean, and this house he destroyed, and the people he removed to Babylon;

13 Por në vitin e parë të Kirit, mbretit të Babilonisë, mbreti Kir dha urdhër t’i ndërtohej kjo shtëpi Perëndisë.

but in the first year of Cyrus king of Babylon, Cyrus the king made a decree to build this house of God,

14 Përveç kësaj mbreti Kir nxori jashtë nga tempulli i Babilonisë përdorëset prej ari dhe argjendi të shtëpisë së Perëndisë, që Nebukadnetsari kishte hequr nga tempulli i Jeruzalemit dhe i kishte çuar në tempullin e Babilonisë, dhe ia dorëzoi njërit që quhej Sheshbatsar, që ai e kishte bërë qeveritar,

and also, the vessels of the house of God, of gold and silver, that Nebuchadnezzar had taken forth out of the temple that [is] in Jerusalem, and brought them to the temple of Babylon, them hath Cyrus the king brought forth out of the temple of Babylon, and they have been given to [one], Sheshbazzar [is] his name, whom he made governor,

15 duke i thënë: “Merri këto veglat dhe shko t’i vësh përsëri në tempullin që është në Jeruzalem; dhe shtëpia e Perëndisë të rindërtohet në vendin e saj.

and said to him, These vessels lift up, go, put them down in the temple that [is] in Jerusalem, and the house of God is builded on its place.

16 Atëherë vetë Sheshbatsari erdhi dhe hodhi themelet e shtëpisë së Perëndisë që është në Jeruzalem; që nga kjo kohë e deri më sot ajo është në ndërtim, dhe nuk ka mbaruar akoma”.

Then hath this Sheshbazzar come — he hath laid the foundations of the house of God that [is] in Jerusalem, and from thence even till now it hath been building, and is not finished.

17 Prandaj tani, në rast se kjo i pëlqen mbretit, të bëhen kërkime në shtëpinë e thesareve të mbretit që është në Babiloni, për të parë nëse mbreti Kir ka dhënë me të vërtetë një urdhër për të ndërtuar këtë shtëpi të Perëndisë në Jeruzalem; dhe mbreti të na çojë vendimin e tij lidhur me këtë gjë”.

'And now, if to the king it be good, let search be made in the treasure-house of the king, that [is] there in Babylon, whether it be that of Cyrus the king there was made a decree to build this house of God in Jerusalem, and the will of the king concerning this thing he doth send unto us.'
