< Acts 23 >

1 Paul, looking steadfastly at the council, said, “Brothers, I have lived before God in all good conscience until today.”
Ary Paoly dia nibanjina ny Synedriona ka nanao hoe: Ry rahalahy, izaho nanompo an’ Andriamanitra tamin’ ny fieritreretana tsara mandraka androany.
2 The high priest, Ananias, commanded those who stood by him to strike him on the mouth.
Ary Ananiasy mpisoronabe nandidy izay nitsangana teo hamely ny vavany.
3 Then Paul said to him, “God will strike you, you whitewashed wall! Do you sit to judge me according to the law, and command me to be struck contrary to the law?”
Ary hoy Paoly taminy: Andriamanitra mba hamely anao, ry rafi-bato voalalotra fotsy; fa ianao va mipetraka hitsara ahy araka ny lalàna, nefa asainao kapohina tsy araka ny lalàna aho?
4 Those who stood by said, “Do you malign God’s high priest?”
Ary izay nitsangana teo dia nanao hoe: Tevatevainao va ny mpisoronaben’ Andriamanitra?
5 Paul said, “I didn’t know, brothers, that he was high priest. For it is written, ‘You shall not speak evil of a ruler of your people.’”
Ary hoy Paoly: Tsy fantatro fa mpisoronabe izy, ry rahalahy; fa voasoratra hoe: Aza miteny ratsy ny mpanapaka ny firenenao.
6 But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, “Men and brothers, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees. Concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am being judged!”
Ary rehefa fantatr’ i Paoly fa Sadoseo ny sasany, ary ny sasany kosa Fariseo, dia niantso teo amin’ ny Synedriona izy ka nanao hoe: Ry rahalahy, izaho dia Fariseo, zanaky ny Fariseo; ny amin’ ny fanantenana sy ny fitsanganan’ ny maty no itsarana ahy.
7 When he had said this, an argument arose between the Pharisees and Sadducees, and the crowd was divided.
Ary rehefa nilaza izany izy, dia nifanditra ny Fariseo sy ny Sadoseo, ka nizara roa toko ny olona maro.
8 For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, nor angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess all of these.
Fa ny Sadoseo manao hoe: Tsy misy fitsanganan’ ny maty, sady tsy misy anjely na fanahy; fa ny Fariseo kosa manaiky izany avokoa.
9 A great clamor arose, and some of the scribes of the Pharisees’ part stood up, and contended, saying, “We find no evil in this man. But if a spirit or angel has spoken to him, let’s not fight against God!”
Ary nisy antsoantso maharenina teo, ary ny mpanora-dalàna sasany, izay isan’ ny antoko atao hoe Fariseo, nitsangana dia niady hevitra ka nanao hoe: Tsy hitanay izay helok’ io lehilahy io; fa sao fanahy na anjely no niteny taminy.
10 When a great argument arose, the commanding officer, fearing that Paul would be torn in pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him by force from among them and bring him into the barracks.
Ary rehefa nitabataba be ihany izy, dia natahotra ny mpifehy arivo, fandrao hifandroritan’ ny olona Paoly ka ho samatsamaka, dia nasainy nidina ny miaramila mba haka azy an-keriny hiala teo ampovoany ary mba hitondra azy ho any anati-rova.
11 The following night, the Lord stood by him and said, “Cheer up, Paul, for as you have testified about me at Jerusalem, so you must testify also at Rome.”
Ary ny Tompo nitsangana teo anilany tamin’ iny alina iny ka nanao hoe: Matokia, fa tahaka ny nanambaranao Ahy tany Jerosalema no mbola hanambaranao Ahy any Roma koa.
12 When it was day, some of the Jews banded together and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul.
Ary nony maraina dia niray tetika ny Jiosy ka niozona sy nianiana fa tsy hihinana na hisotro izy ambara-pamonony an’ i Paoly.
13 There were more than forty people who had made this conspiracy.
Ary tsy omby efa-polo no niray tetika nanao izany.
14 They came to the chief priests and the elders, and said, “We have bound ourselves under a great curse to taste nothing until we have killed Paul.
Ary izy nankany amin’ ny mpisoronabe sy ny loholona ka nanao hoe: Efa niozona sy nianiana izahay fa tsy hanandran-javatra na inona na inona ambara-pamononay an’ i Paoly.
15 Now therefore, you with the council inform the commanding officer that he should bring him down to you tomorrow, as though you were going to judge his case more exactly. We are ready to kill him before he comes near.”
Koa ankehitriny dia milazà amin’ ny mpifehy arivo ianareo sy ny Synedriona mba hampidina azy hankatỳ aminareo, mody ta-hamototra azy marimarina kokoa ny amin’ izay nataony; ary izahay kosa dia efa vonona hamono azy, dieny tsy mbola mby akaiky izy.
16 But Paul’s sister’s son heard they were lying in wait, and he came and entered into the barracks and told Paul.
Ary nony ren’ ny zanak’ anabavin’ i Paoly ny fanotrehana, dia lasa nankany anati-rova izy ka nilaza tamin’ i Paoly.
17 Paul summoned one of the centurions and said, “Bring this young man to the commanding officer, for he has something to tell him.”
Ary Paoly niantso ny kapiteny anankiray hankeo aminy ka nanao hoe: Ento mankany amin’ ny mpifehy arivo ity zatovo ity, fa manan-teny holazaina aminy izy.
18 So he took him and brought him to the commanding officer and said, “Paul, the prisoner, summoned me and asked me to bring this young man to you. He has something to tell you.”
Koa dia nandray azy ilay kapiteny ka nitondra azy ho any amin’ ny mpifehy arivo, dia nanao hoe: Paoly mpifatotra niantso ahy hankeo aminy ka nangataka ahy hitondra ity zatovo ity hanketo aminao, fa manan-teny holazaina aminao, hono, izy.
19 The commanding officer took him by the hand, and going aside, asked him privately, “What is it that you have to tell me?”
Ary ny mpifehy arivo nitantana azy, ary nony efa nitokana tao amin’ ny mangingina izy, dia nanontaniany hoe: Inona moa no teny holazainao amiko?
20 He said, “The Jews have agreed to ask you to bring Paul down to the council tomorrow, as though intending to inquire somewhat more accurately concerning him.
Dia hoy ilay zatovo: Ny Jiosy efa nifanaiky hangataka aminao hampidina an’ i Paoly ho any amin’ ny Synedriona rahampitso, mody ta-hanadina azy marimarina kokoa.
21 Therefore don’t yield to them, for more than forty men lie in wait for him, who have bound themselves under a curse to neither eat nor drink until they have killed him. Now they are ready, looking for the promise from you.”
Koa aza manaiky azy ianao, fa misy tsy omby efa-polo lahy izy manotrika hisambotra an’ i Paoly, ka efa niozona sy nianiana izy fa tsy hihinana na hisotro ambara-pamonony azy; ary efa vonona izy ankehitriny ka miandry ny teny avy aminao.
22 So the commanding officer let the young man go, charging him, “Tell no one that you have revealed these things to me.”
Ary ny mpifehy arivo nampandeha ilay zatovo ka nandidy azy hoe: Aza milaza amin’ olona fa efa nilaza izany tamiko ianao.
23 He called to himself two of the centurions, and said, “Prepare two hundred soldiers to go as far as Caesarea, with seventy horsemen and two hundred men armed with spears, at the third hour of the night.”
Ary niantso kapiteny roa lahy hankeo aminy izy ka nanao hoe: Manomàna miaramila roan-jato lahy sy an-tsoavaly fito-polo ary mpiloka lefona roan-jato hankany Kaisaria anio alina amin’ ny ora fahatelo;
24 He asked them to provide mounts, that they might set Paul on one, and bring him safely to Felix the governor.
ary itondray biby koa hitaingenan’ i Paoly hitondra azy soa aman-tsara ho any amin’ i Feliksa mpanapaka.
25 He wrote a letter like this:
Ary izy nanoratra taratasy nisy izao teny izao:
26 “Claudius Lysias to the most excellent governor Felix: Greetings.
Klaodio Lysia miarahaba an’ i Feliksa, mpanapaka tsara indrindra.
27 “This man was seized by the Jews, and was about to be killed by them when I came with the soldiers and rescued him, having learned that he was a Roman.
Ity lehilahy ity dia nosamborin’ ny Jiosy ka efa saiky novonoiny; fa nony fantatro fa Romana izy, dia nitondra ny miaramila aho ka namonjy azy.
28 Desiring to know the cause why they accused him, I brought him down to their council.
Ary satria ta-hahalala tsara izay niampangany azy aho, dia nentiko nidina ho eo amin’ ny Synedriona izy;
29 I found him to be accused about questions of their law, but not to be charged with anything worthy of death or of imprisonment.
dia hitako fa ady hevitra ny amin’ ny lalàny no niampangany azy, fa tsy nisy niampangany azy izay tokony hahafaty na hamatorana azy.
30 When I was told that the Jews lay in wait for the man, I sent him to you immediately, charging his accusers also to bring their accusations against him before you. Farewell.”
Ary rehefa voalaza tamiko fa nisy nikasa hanotrika hisambotra an-dralehilahy, dia naniraka faingana hitondra azy aminao aho, ary ny mpiampanga koa nasaiko hilaza atỳ anatrehanao izay iampangany azy.
31 So the soldiers, carrying out their orders, took Paul and brought him by night to Antipatris.
Dia nalain’ ny miaramila Paoly araka ny nandidiana azy ka nentiny tamin’ iny alina iny ho any Antipatria.
32 But on the next day they left the horsemen to go with him, and returned to the barracks.
Ary nony ampitso dia navelany handeha hiaraka aminy ny an-tsoavaly, fa izy kosa niverina ho any anati-rova.
33 When they came to Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, they also presented Paul to him.
Rehefa tonga tany Kaisaria ireo, dia nanolotra ny taratasy tamin’ ny mpanapaka sady nanolotra an’ i Paoly ho eo anatrehany koa.
34 When the governor had read it, he asked what province he was from. When he understood that he was from Cilicia, he said,
Ary rehefa novakiny ilay taratasy, dia nanontany izay zara-fanapahana nihaviany izy; ary rehefa fantany fa avy tany Kilikia izy,
35 “I will hear you fully when your accusers also arrive.” He commanded that he be kept in Herod’s palace.
dia hoy izy: Hihaino tsara ny teninao aho, rehefa tongay ny mpiampanga anao. Dia nasainy nambenana tao an-dapan’ i Heroda izy.
